  • 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene(EDOT)을 ferric-toluenesulfonate(FTS)로 doping하여 합성하였다.

  • In this paper, we studied the electrical and the microwave properties of the amorphous $As_{10}Ge_{15}Te_{75}$ thin film. The electrical properties of a-$As_{10}Ge_{15}Te_{75}$ thin film were examined d.c. and a.c. bias with annealing condition. As the result of the electrical properties, we observed the physical characteristics of a-$As_{10}Ge_{15}Te_{75}$ thin film such as the density of defect states, characteristic relaxation time, localized density of states, and localized wave function by using CBH and QMT model. We also examined the microwave conduction properties before and after d.e. switching.

  • Fuel cells of proton exchange membrane type (PEMFC) working with hydrogen in the anode and ambient air in the cathode ('air breathing') have been prepared and characterized. The cells have been studied with variable thickness of the cathode catalyst layer ($L_{CL}$), maintaining constant the platinum and ionomer loads. Polarization curves and electrochemical active area measurements have been carried out. The polarization curves are analyzed in terms of a model for a flooded passive air breathing cathode. The analysis shows that $L_{CL}$ affects to electrochemical kinetics and mass transport processes inside the electrode, as reflected by two parameters of the polarization curves: the Tafel slope and the internal resistance. The observed decrease in Tafel slope with decreasing $L_{CL}$ shows improvements in the oxygen reduction kinetics which we attribute to changes in the catalyst layer structure. A decrease in the internal resistance with $L_{CL}$ is attributed to lower protonic resistance of thinner catalyst layers, although the observed decrease is lower than expected probably because the electronic conduction starts to be hindered by more hydrophilic character and thicker ionomer film.

  • A study on the operation of a heat pipe with two heat sources has been performed to optimize the heat distribution of satellite equipment. A numerical modeling is used to predict the temperature profile for the heat pipe assuming cylindrical two-dimensional laminar flow for the vapor, and the conduction heat transfer for the wall and wick. An experimental study using the copper-water heat pipe with the length of 0.45 m has been performed to evaluate the numerical model and to compare the temperature distribution at the outer wall for the non-uniform heat distribution. The results on temperature profiles for the heat input range from 29 W to 47 W on each heater are presented. Also the correlation between the heat input and the temperature increase is presented for the optimum distribution on two heaters. The result shows that the outer wall temperature can be controlled by redistribution of heat sources. It is also concluded that the heat source closer to the condenser can carry more heat while maintaining lower temperatures at the outer wall.

  • A mathematical model of electro-thermoelasticity subjected to memory-dependent derivative (MDD) heat conduction law is applied to a one-dimensional problem of a thermoelectric spherical cavity exposed to a warm stun that is an element of time in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. Utilizing Laplace transform as an instrument, the issue has been fathomed logically within the changed space. Numerical inversion of the Laplace transform is carried for the considered distributions and represented graphically. Some comparisons are shown in the figures to estimate the effects of MDD parameters and thermoelectric properties on the behavior of all considered fields.

  • We performed a spatially resolved spectroscopic study of the thermal composite supernova remnant 3C 391 by the Chandra observation. Broad- and narrow-band X-ray images show a southeast-northwest elongated morphology and unveil a highly clumpy structure of the remnant. The spectral analysis for. the small-scale features indicates normal metal abundance and uniform temperature for the interior gas. The properties of the hot gas are largely in agreement with the cloudlet evaporation model as a main mechanism for the 'thermal composite' X-ray appearance, though radiative rim and thermal conduction may also be effective. An unresolved X-ray source, with a power-law spectrum, is observed on the northwest border. The equivalent width images reveal a faint finger-like protrusion in Si and S lines out of the southwest radio border.

  • The electrical contact resistance is here estimated using the multiscale microcontact distribution of elastic contact between rough surfaces, simulated from the Archard's model, and the electrical contact conduction theory suggested by Greenwood. These analysis confirms that the electrical contact resistance is converged to a values, larger than would be obtained if the contact spots were widely separated and hence independent. In multiscale process, the base potential is close to the value of the potential difference between the contact surface and the extremity of body, suggesting a possibility to obtain the multiscale electrical contact resistance relations.

  • Over the last few year, there has been a growing interest in quantitative representation of heat transfer phenomena in weld pools in order to relate the processing conditions to the quality of the weldment produced and to use this information for the optimisation and robotization of the welding process. Normally, a theoretical model offers a powerful alternative to check out the physical concepts of the welding process and to calculate the effects of varying any of parameters. To solve this problem, a transient 2D(two-dimensional) heat conduction were developed for determining bead geometry and temperature distribution for the GMA welding process. The equation was solved using a general thermofluid-mechanics computer program, PHOENICS code, which is based on the SIMPLE algorithm. The simulation results showed that the calculated bead geometry from the developed models reasonablely agree with the experiment results.

  • In this paper, we present an analytical method that provides fast and efficient evaluation of the conversion efficiency for switching power supplies. In the proposed method, the conduction losses are evaluated by calculating the effective values of the ideal current waveform first and incorporating them into an exact equivalent circuit model of the switching power supply that includes all the parasitic resistances of the circuit components. While the winding losses and core losses are accurately accounted for the magnetic components, the skin and proximity effects are assumed to be negligible in order to simplify the analysis. The validity and accuracy of the proposed method are verified with experiments on a prototype active-clamped forward converter with synchronous rectification. An excellent correlation between the experiments and theories are obtained for the input voltages of 36-75 V with 4-6 MOSFETs employed for the synchronous rectification.

  • An investigation of the mechanism of period-doubling bifurcation in a voltage mode controlled buck-boost converter operating in discontinuous conduction mode is conducted from the viewpoint of nonlinear dynamical systems. The discrete iterative model describing the dynamics of the close-loop is derived. Period-doubling bifurcation occurs at certain values of the feedback factor. Results from numerical simulations and experiments are provided to verify the evolution of perioddoubling bifurcation, and the results are consistent with the theoretical analysis. These results show that the buck-boost converters exhibit a wide range of nonlinear behavior, and the system exhibits a typical period-doubling bifurcation route to chaos under particular operating conditions.
