  • Unbonded Post-Tensioned (UPT) precast concrete systems have been shown to provide excellent seismic resistance. In order to improve understanding of the dynamic response of UPT systems, a series of snap back tests on four UPT systems was undertaken consisting of one Single Rocking Wall (SRW) and three Precast Wall with End Columns (PreWEC) systems. The snap back tests provided both a static pushover and a nonlinear free vibration response of a system. As expected the SRW exhibited an approximate bi-linear inertia force-drift response during the free vibration decay and the PreWEC walls showed an inertia force-drift response with increased strength and energy dissipation due to the addition of steel O-connectors. All walls exhibited negligible residual drifts regardless of the number of O-connectors or the post-tensioning force. When PreWEC systems of the same strength were compared the inclusion of further energy dissipating O-connectors was found to decrease the measured peak wall acceleration. Both the local and global wall parameters measured at pseudo-static and dynamic loading rates showed similar behaviour, which demonstrates that the dynamic behaviour of UPT walls is well represented by pseudo-static tests. The SRW was found to have Equivalent Viscous Damping (EVD) between 0.9-3.8% and the three PreWEC walls were found to have maximum EVD of between 14.7-25.8%.

  • This paper presents the evaluation of behavior and the prediction of tensile capacity of anchors that fail concrete, as the design basis for anchorage. Tests of cast-in-place headed anchors, domestically manufactured and installed in uncracked, unreinforced concrete are performed to investigate the behavior of single anchors and multiple anchors with the consideration of various embedment lengths and edge distances.

  • Poor water-proofing integrity is related to many factors : site procedure, workmanship, weather. substrate conditions, installation(including asphalt application) conditions. The evaluation of adhesive properties tested by concrete surface moisture and asphalt application was based on laboratory test and observations. This report describes the pull-off test results of waterproofing systems currently used for installing and reparing for concrete bridge decks. The test results showed that the moisture condition fully affected the adhesive properties of sheet membranes and sealer but partially for liquid membranes.

  • In segmentally erected bridges, the structural systems are changed as the construction stages progress and redistribution of member forces occurs due to time dependent effects of concrete and relaxation of perstressing steel. Therefore, structural analysis is required at each construction stage. In this study, nonlinear analysis program of the segmentally erected prestressed concrete box girder bridges is developed to raise the efficiency in making input file for the main program and analysis of the results produced by the main program.

  • Recently, the floor thickness in residence may not be satisfied with the floor vibration criteria although the thickness is evaluated by the serviceability requirements in current design provisions. Thus it is necessary to develop the procedure to determine slab thickness satisfied with the floor vibration criteria. In this study, We proposed the methods to determine the slab thickness satisfied with the vertical floor vibration criteria for several concrete compressive strength of flat plate floor systems. For this purpose Monte Carlo simulation procedure was adopted and both randomness inherent in young modulus of concrete and heel drop intensity were accounted.

  • The composite structural system with reinforced concrete column and steel beam has some advantages in the structural efficiency by complementing the shortcomings between the two systems. The system, however, has also a lot of problems in earthquake-proof capacity and construction process because it is wet method of construction. So, this paper proposed PCS(Precast Concrete Column and Steel Beam) structural system with dry method of construction. Purpose of this study is to enhance merit and control failure mechanism by installing Dog-Bone on H-beam.

  • During the past few decades, several composite steel-concrete structural systems have been used and the demand of SRC (Steel Reinforced Concrete) structure increases on the construction of coping structures. But drying shrinking of concrete which is not uniform and the additional restraining effects of encased steel in concrete may cause the crack which leads to harmful damage to structure. In this study, specimens were made to show the restraining effects of embeded-steel in concrete and the differential drying shrinkage strains at various position of concrete were measured and analysed by Compensation Line Method. The results showed that there were remarkable difference in the drying shrinkage according to 속 depth of the concrete, and the tensile stress of the concrete near to encased steel showed the significant amount of stress contrary to 속 specimen which has no embeded-steel.

  • The corrosion problem of rebar is a world wide concern of every engineer engaged in reinforced concrete business, clients, engineers construction contractor and maintenance organizations, all alike. Research and development of new systems, materials, and design concept of rebar corrosion is actively progressing world wide. We have to open our mind and change the paradigm so that creative and active approach will make all of us beneficial.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the properties of composite systems using polymer cement and epoxy resins for waterproofing and anti-corrosion to concrete structures such as water supply facilities and sewage-works. In this study these engineering properties of composite systems using polymer-modified mortar and epoxy resins were examined and could be confirmed to satisfy the guidelines of KS. Especially, it was turn out that the adhesion properties was excellent and high crack-resistance up to 1.49mm will be perform.
