VES-LMC 덧씌우기를 이용한 콘크리트 포장 보수 (Rehabilitation of Concrete Pavement with VES-LMC overlay)

  • Since in 1970, the length of concrete pavements(JCP, JRCP and CRCP) are growing rapidly at both of main highways and local roads. Many of them are deteriorated and old enough to be repaired or replaced. The pavement is more important than the other infrastructures and it is very difficult to go around or block the traffic during the rehabilitation. The very-early strength latex-modified concrete(VES-LMC)may offer the advantages of high-early-strength, higher flexural strength, higher bond strength, and improved durability. The VES-LMC could be used at a kind of fast track ofr early opening to the traffic after 3 hours of concrete placement. The installation of VES-LMC overlay at Jung-Boo highway was successfully done from April 28 to 29, 2005. The traffic was closed at 07:00 PM and opened to traffic at 08:30 AM. The compressive and flexural strength of VES-MC were more than 28MPa, 6.2MPa after 4 hours, respectively.

강릉시 콘크리트 하수관거의 내구성 평가 (Estimation on Durability of Concrete Sewage in Kangnung City)

  • Most of sewage in our country has been made by concrete, and currently they shows gradual deterioration. One of serious problems happened in the sewage is a corrosion of sewage itself. Namely, biochemical corrosion is the most important one. Deterioration phenomenon in concrete used in sewage is occurred by environment condition of sewage, such as erosion by the acid, erosion by sulfate, corrosion by carbonation and so on several factors. However, at present, investigation data on durability of Kangnung city sewage is not sufficient. In addition, the prediction of repair time and selection of rehabilitation method is also not easy. Accordingly, in this research, investigation on durability of sewages located in Kangnung city was carried out. It will also supply the basic data for repair and rehabilitation.

Economic and Fast-track Rehabilitation of Concrete Pavements and Bridge Decks

  • The last 10 years have seen considerable growth in the use of proprietary and special repair cements for concrete pavements in the state of Oklahoma. Many of these products lend themselves to "fast track" construction techniques that allow reopening to traffic within 12 hours or less. These products achieve high early strengths by accelerating the Portland cement hydration process for both Type I and Type III cements. In this paper, the important features of a durable repair which include strength, compatibility and bond or adhesion are first discussed. Then the development, testing and field implementation of the aforementioned materials are discussed including the learning curve required to implement a repair system, not just install a new material. Some of the materials discussed, while expensive on a cost per unit basis, hold great promise for economical use on fast track project.

Effect of Surface Condition and Corrosion-Induced Defect on Guided Wave Propagation in Reinforced Concrete

  • Corrosion of reinforcing steel bars is a major concern for ocean engineers when reinforced concrete structures are exposed to marine environments. Evaluating the degree of corrosion and corrosion-induced defects is extremely necessary to pursue a proper retrofit or rehabilitation plan for reinforced concrete structures. A promising inspection should be carried out for the evaluation, otherwise the retrofit or rehabilitation process would be useless. Nowadays, ultrasonic guided wave-based inspection techniques become quite promising for the inspection, mainly because of their long-range propagation capability and their sensitivity to different types of defects or conditions. Evaluating haw the guided waves response to the different types of defects or conditions is quite challenging and important. This study shows how surface conditions of reinforcing bars and a corrosion-induced defect, separation, affect guided wave propagation in reinforced concrete. Experiments and associated signal analysis show the sensitivity of guided waves to the surface conditions, as well as the amounts of separation at the interface between. concrete and steel bar.

  • In several structural problems, the low concrete strength of compression members has the severest influence on the structural safety. However, the repairing and strengthening techniques for compression members are not established and evaluated. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the rehabilitation techniques to obtain proper structural strength of wall with low concrete strength. The specimens with low strength of concrete were retrofitted with commonly using section increase method and epoxy bonded glass fiber techniques. The tests were executed to failure under concentric and eccentric loads. In this paper, the structural behavior and failure modes were investigated to evaluate the strengthening effects of walls subjected to compression and out-of-plane bending.

In this study, 3 method of rehabilitation technic are analyzed from the tests. Test parameters are the width of cracks, the method of repair and rehabilitation, the magnitude of existing load. Deflection, failure load, strains of reinforcing bar, strains of sheet and plates are measured during tests. The failure mode and ultimate load are analyzed from these measured data. Test result shows that the width of cracks and the magnitude of existing load do not make any difference of ultimate flexural capacity.

철근콘크리트보의 휨내력보강 공법에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Rehabilitation Technics of R/C Flexural Member)

  • In this study, the behavior of R/C beam strengthened with carbon fiber laminate(C.F.L) is analyzed from the test results. Test parameters ar the width and the thickness of C.F.L. The failure mode and ultimate load are analyzed from these measured data. Test results shows that the peak load of specimens strengthened with C.F.L. is increased to 1.27~2.04 times of that of non-rehabilitation specimen. The wider lap width, large amount of rehabilitation materials, the larger strength is obtained.

  • 본 연구에서는 복합 재질 폐플라스틱을 재활용한 폴리머콘크리트의 압축, 휨 및 충격강도, 흡수율 및 동결융해저항성에 미치는 결합재 첨가량 및 PA 혼입량의 영향에 대하여 연구하였다. 그 결과 복합 재질 폐플라스틱을 재활용한 폴리머콘크리트의 압축, 휨 및 충격강도는 PA 혼입량에 관계없이, 결합재 첨가량 및 충전제 혼입량의 증가에 따라 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. 하지만, PA 혼입량의 증가에 따라서는 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 복합 재질 폐플라스틱을 재활용한 폴리머콘크리트의 흡수율은 PA 혼입량에 관계없이, 결합재 첨가량의 증가에 따라 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 하지만 PA 혼입량의 증가에 따라서는 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. 복합 재질 폐플라스틱을 재활용한 폴리머콘크리트의 내구성 지수는 결합재 첨가량의 증가에 따라 증가하였으나, PA 혼입량에 따라서는 감소하는 경향을 보였다.

비연성 철근 콘크리트 중력 프레임에 의한 지진 보강 (Seismic Rehabilitation of Nonductile Reidorced Concrete Gravity Frame)

  • This paper represents results of an effort to seismically rehabilitate a 12-story nonductile reinforced concrete frame building. The frame located in the most severe seismic area, zone 4, is assumed to be designed and detailed for gravity load requirements only. Both pushover and nonlinear time-history analyses are carried out to determine strength, deformation capacity and the vulnerability of the building. The analysis indicates a drift concentration at the $1^{st}$ floor level due to inadequate strength and ductility capacity of the ground floor columns. The capacity curve of the structure, when superimposed on the average demand response spectrum for the ensemble of scaled earthquakes indicates that the structure is extremely weak and requires a major retrofit. The retrofit of the building is attempted using viscoelastic (VE) dampers. The dampers at each floor level are sized in order to reduce the elastic story drift ratios to within 1%. It is found that this requires substantially large dampers that are not practically feasible. With practical size dampers, the analyses of the viscoelastically damped building indicates that the damper sizes provided are not sufficient enough to remove the biased response and drift concentration of the building. The results indicate that VE-dampers alone are not sufficient to rehabilitate such a concrete frame. Concrete buildings, in general, being stiffer require larger dampers. The second rehabilitation strategy uses concrete shearwalls. Shearwalls increased stiffness and strength of the building, which resulted in reducing the drift significantly. The effectiveness of VE-dampers in conjunction with stiff shearwalls was also studied. Considering the economy and effectiveness, it is concluded that shearwalls were the most feasible solution for seismic rehabilitation of such buildings.
