  • This paper presents comparative results of configuration modeling and aerodynamic analysis to single-engine airplanes such as C-172, SR-20, and DA40NG. The software OpenVSP was used as an airplane configuration modeling tool. OpenVSP can provide the fastest method to get three-dimensional aircraft configuration from given basic data and drawings of aircraft. Parametric design input in OpenVSP, from given aircraft geometric parameters, was applied to small airplanes mentioned. New aircraft models in this study were reversely designed to coincide with the publicly obtained dimensions of the original aircraft. The basic aerodynamic analysis of newly designed modeling aircraft was performed by the vortex lattice method. Results are shown that the similarity of aerodynamic data obtained except for the lack of DA40NG. In conclusion, the modeling process applied to this work is valuable to obtain conceptual design insight in the reverse design from the small airplanes currently in use for flight training.

  • A jetfighter shape modeling method based on design features is researched, to improve the efficiency of shape modeling in the stage of conceptual aircraft design. The aircraft's general design features and shape parameters, including geometric and position parameters, are described. The coordinate systems of the entire aircraft and its components are defined. As a sample of local shape, a method of inlet intake modeling is introduced. The whole process of the modeling method is proposed. Three examples of different jetfighters are listed, to describe the achievement of basic layout, which includes four main elements. The Fusion of Components can be achieved by regulating the details of the sections of the fuselage. Sample Cases of typical layouts are shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, which provides the basis for further analysis and optimization.

  • There are many technical datum in related with design, test & evaluation and logistic support which will be exchanged between geographically isolated units and heterogeneous hardwares & softwares in developing and operating the weapon systems. The paper proposes the conceptual database schema to establish configuration management information systems in which these datum can be automatically interchanged, tracked, audited and status-accounted without errors under the various environments. The paper investigates how to identify and classify the data in accordance with document identification, task analysis, system development, logistic support, system test & evaluation and data management. Furthermore, the investigation includes drawing the subject areas and modeling the conceptual database schema to explain the relationships between these datum. Thus, the paper results in the conceptual framework and data models of configuration management information systems, while additional customization efforts be required in applying the models to a specific weapon systems R&D.

  • Conceptual modeling is a critical activity for developing successful business information systems. The objective of this study is to evaluate the possibility of applying the constant comparison method from the grounded theory to conceptual modeling. To achieve the objective, we trained novice modelers and split them into two groups for evaluation. The experimental results show that applying the constant comparison method could increase acceptability from more experienced conceptual modelers. Moreover, while the control group was experienced difficulties when domain knowledge is unfamiliar, the experimental group could handle difficulties more effectively. In addition, applying the constant comparison method also decreased the time to complete analysis for conceptual modeling.

  • Data quality issue in information systems is analyzed with focus on conceptual data modeling. Extensive investigation through triangulation of case studies is attempted to find how much extent inappropriate data modeling practices exercised in real workplace environment. It is revealed that more than 40 percent of data adversely contributed to unnecessary data redundancy, i.e., the level of data obesity is over 40 percent. Another contribution of this paper lies in excavation of all the categories of inappropriate data modeling practices, which has been previously only partially uncovered in the literature. New findings in this paper prove that the extent of inappropriate modeling is more serious that previously reported.

  • Purpose: In this research, We made the conceptual frameworks for SEM(Structural Equation Modeling) on Global quality's origin and empirical research. Developing conceptual frameworks is an important step in theory building and theory testing. This research model was developed by strong theoretical foundation which is quality and systematical model. Methods: Questionnaire was developed, and data was collected and analyzed for this study. The analysis was conducted using SEM(Structural Equation Modeling). Results: Results show that process quality and interaction quality are important drivers in customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction is strongly impact on customer loyalty(repeated purchase). Conclusion: In turbulent business era, Global company require not only excellent quality but also create customer oriented culture and control over operation in the foreign country.

  • According to the requirement of wing weight estimation and frequent adjustments during aircraft conceptual design, a wing weight estimation method considering the constraints of structural strength and stiffness is proposed to help designers make wing weight estimations rapidly and accurately. This method implements weight predictions on the basis of structure weight optimization with stiffness constraints and strength constraints, which include achievement of wing shape parametric modeling, rapid structure layout, finite element (FE) model automated generation, load calculation, structure analysis, weight optimization, and weight computed based on modeling. A software tool is developed with this wing weight estimation method. This software can realize the whole process of wing weight estimation with the method and the workload of wing weight estimation is reduced because much of the work can be completed by the software. Finally, an example is given to illustrate that this weight estimation method is effective.

  • XML has become one of the most influential standard language for representing and exchanging data on internet. However, XML itself has a ability to represent a logical structure for storing and managing data, it is inadequate to use as a conceptual modeling tool because of its complexity for representing the document structures. In this paper, we propose the graphical form of conceptual modeling techniques for representing the structure of the XML schema documents using an extended entity relationship diagram. For this, extended entity relationship model is presented for representing the XML schema structure, transformation rules are presented for transforming extended entity relationship model into XML schema document to show the completeness of the proposed model.

  • In this paper, the conceptual model for bibliographic Information consistent and compatible with MARC is presented. The modeling requirements are derived from MARC-related models such as MARC21, MARCXML and MODES. To meet these requirements, this paper proposes the conceptual model based on MARC formalism. The model composed with aggregation relationships among bibliographic data elements can use semantic tags of XML. As the model can be realized into diverse structures, it will be effectively applied for the development of bibliographic information management systems. Since MARC defines only record format and has the limitations in semantic representation, the metadata system that can expand bibliographic data elements in MRAC into metadata level is strongly required.
