This study proposes an evaluation method of water supply capacity of a dam, which uses the concept of return period by conducting bivariate frequency analysis of dam storage capacity. The proposed method was applied to the Daecheong Dam for the evaluation. Additionally, the return periods of Daecheong Dam were estimated for the representative drought events in Korea, whose results were also reviewed. Summarizing the results is as follows. First, this study evaluated several climatological factors related to the water supply capacity of dams in Korea to conduct the bivariate frequency analysis and selected the storage on May and the storage difference between June and October as variables for analysis. Second, as an evaluation result of the water supply capacity of the Daecheong Dam, it was found that the Daecheong Dam secures the water supply capacity under 20 years of return period. Finally, it was also confirmed that the proposed method in this study is valid to analyze and estimate the return period of representative drought events occurred in the Korean peninsula.

Purpose: Surgery for thyroid gland requires skin incisions that can result in postsurgical neck scar. To overcome this, many surgeons performed a endoscopic thyroidectomy. But, this approach had a some problems. One of postoperative problems, iatrogenic cervical dystonia (CD) may occur. At common, CD is defined as a syndrome characterized by prolonged muscle contraction causing twisting, repetitive movements or abnormal posture. Botulinum toxin A (BTA, Botox$^{(R)}$, Allergan, Irvine, CA, USA) is well known treatment agent in the treatment of CD. So, the authors applied BTA injection in rare case with iatrogenic CD resulting in endoscopic thyroidectomy. Methods: A 43-year-old female had endoscopic subtotal thyroidectomy operation 3 years ago. She had symptoms such as progressive cervical pain, abnormal neck posture, depression, and sleep difficulty. About 1 year later, the patient who had previous myomectomy of the clavicular head of sternocleidomastoid muscle, however, symptoms were not improved. And then the patient received BTA therapy in our department. The 2 units per 0.1 mL solution was administered in a 1 mL tuberculin syringe. Results: The dose of BTA used in the patient was 36 units for vertical platysmal bands, superficially, and 10 units for ipsilateral sternocleidomastoid muscle, intramuscularly. After 2 weeks, additional the dose of BTA used in the patient was 5 points for remained scar bands, superficially. Complications related to injection such as significant swallowing difficulties, neck muscle weakness, or sensory change were not observed. In 9 months follow-up, the patient maintained a good result from the method of BTA injection alone. Conclusion: The basic concept is selective denervation for the hyperactive individual muscles and scar bands. We conclude that BTA is an effective and safe treatment for CD despite the iatrogenic and complex presentation of this complication.

Landscape civilization in Korea originated in Cochosun(Ancient Chosun) era, this again succeeding to the period of the Three States - Koguryo, Baekje and Silla. The distribution of this culture showed great progress with the association of two particular religions - Buddhism and Confucianism.. Landscape development in Korea has greatly changed during specific times of both cultural and political upheaval in various societies. Religion has had a great deal of influence on landscape development. Traditionally Korean people have had a tendency to favor more natural landscape than man-made structures in landscape : This trend was a quite different concept from that of other oriental countries, not to mention of western countries. In particular, Buddhism influenced natural landscape, far from artificial craftsmanship in landscape. Oriental garden is a typical 'tabloid edition' of natural landscape which consists lakes, islands, ponds, stone monuments, and fruit trees, quite often raising animal in parks and courtyard style house. This style of garden influenced in Chosun Dynasty landscape. Landscaping was usually for royal gardens, cemetery parks or high level of officer's residence. However, landscaping in Chosun Dynasty which had established Confucianism as a state religion gave us a specific designation. It was neither ethnic imitation of the garden style of both China and Japan : People were used to enjoy nature-friendly landscape or sink into the ecstasy of natural scenery itself. The trend that landscape or establishing garden had been aimed at royal family- or bureaucrat-centered formatives was to become an obstacle to the development of landscape techniques in Korea. An example represented in a beautiful garden with fabulous decoration which established in places. This was completely not fit for the nation's feeling.

The application of livestock manure to cropland is a practice that has been used for centuries. Agricultural crops can utilize nutrients from manure, and the producer can utilize land for disposal, although in a "sustainable system" the concept is manure utilization and not waste disposal. However, meeting regulatory criteria regarding microbial quality remains an expensive and time consuming process. The purpose of this study was to quantify the level of environmental impact of soil moisture and temperature on fecal coliform (Escherichia coli or E. coli) survival in upland soils for sound application of livestock manure. Samples were collected up to 30 days depending on the given conditions. The inactivation rate of E. coli increased linearly with increased temperature while the inactivation rate gradually decreased with decreased soil moisture level. The overall findings of this study showed that the temperature was the limited factor on E. coli survival in soils over soil moisture content. This study will provide useful and practical guidelines to applicators of soil in deciding appropriate handling and time frames for land application for sustainable agriculture.

In the relational database systems the join operation is one of the most time-consuming query operations. Many parallel join algorithms have been developed 개 reduce the execution time Multiple hash join algorithm using allocation tree is one of the most efficient ones. However, it may have some delay on the processing each node of allocation tree, which is occurred in tuple-probing phase by the difference between one page reading time of outer relation and the processing time of already read one. This delay problem was solved by using the concept of synchronization of page execution time with we had proposed In this paper the effects of the performance improvements in each node of the allocation tree are extended to the whole allocation tree and the performance evaluation about that is processed. In addition we propose an efficient algorithm for multiple hash joins in limited number of processor environments according to the relationship between the number of input relations in the allocation tree and the number of processors allocated to the tree. Finally. we analyze the performance by building the analytical cost model and verify the validity of it by various performance comparison with previous method.

The present article focuses on the cultural arts, the role and functions of people as intermediate to carry out the revitalization of memory. Most of the basic cultural activities and events sparked from the cardinal point of the democratization of Gwangju and the interwoven relationships this created. In other words, the events leading to Gwangju democratization movement have derived from democratic culture and art and they contributed to change and influence South Korea's revolutionary movements. As far as clarifying the concept of culture is concerned, the idea of culture is too wide to encompass it so we aim to narrow it down to the special events of 5.18 democratization movements which launched the national transformation of the cultural stage and the development of democracy in South Korea. Through this, the movement of popular culture and popular arts fostered the revolution of society. Moreover, the value of the 5.18 movement for democratization stems from democracy, human rights, the universal value of peace and so many efforts were made by popular artists until it became upgraded as a national commemoration day. Raising the people's awareness that culture could change the course of history is still necessary so that popular art and culture play a central role in people's lives. In order to fulfill the people's inherent hope it is necessary to promote aesthetic values and a continuous revolution in societal practices.

Submarines, which have been called an invisible force, are strategic underwater weapon systems that perform missions such as anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and high payoff target strikes with the advantage of underwater covertness. A submarine should be able to withstand the hydrostatic pressure of the deep sea. In this respect, the submarine pressure hull, as the main structural system to resist the external pressure corresponding to the submerged depth, should ensure the survivability from hazards and threats such as leakage, fires, shock, explosion, etc. To do this, the initial scantling of the submarine pressure hull must be calculated appropriately in the concept design phase. The shape of the aft transition ring varies according to its connection with the submarine aft end conical structure, pressure hull cylindrical part, and non-pressure hull of the submarine; the design of the aft transition ring should not only take into account stress flow and connectivity but also the cost increase due to the increased man-hours of its complex geometry. Therefore, trade-off studies based on the four different shapes of the aft transition ring are carried out considering both the review of the structural strength through nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) and economic feasibility by reviewing the estimations of the manufacturing working days and material costs. Finally, the most rational structural aft transition ring shape for a submarine amongst four reviewed types was proposed.

Cho Ji-hoon was a leading figure on the discussion of recognition on Han Yong-un, particularly the post-liberation period. During the Japanese colonial era, he addressed Han Yong-un as the representative of national poet, and evaluated Han's poems as the models of rebellious nationalistic poetry. Such evaluation by Cho set the precedent of basic perspectives and methodologies on how to recognize Han Yong-un in the present day. This paper analyzes three studies on Han Yong-un, conducted by Cho ji-hoon. We also examine how Cho created his logic of recognizing Han as a national poet, and his poems as nationalistic poetry. Accordingly, this paper has separated recognitions on poet studies and work studies, and further explored how each recognition has consistency with Cho ji-hoon's historical and literary perception. As a result, the following has been concluded: the basis of Cho ji-hoon's recognition on the life and works of Han Yong-un was premised on Cho's understanding of the world from a standpoint of history of ideas, the concept of nation was regarded as an absolute value that binds disparate ideas together, and the combination of nationalism and poetry has been expressed through the logic of nationalistic poetry and the notion which equalizes the poet to a classical scholar. It was further concluded that such equalizing logic contains some logical contradictions derived from integration between universal rights and national sovereignty, and nation and Buddhism. Therefore, it can be said that other possible interpretations on the role of a poet were not fully discussed, but remain bounded. Last but not the least, this paper critically tries to perceive Cho's recognition on Han Yong-un, and accentuates the necessity of new interpretations of Han's poems, apart from those based on nationalism.

Although many PCR-based assays have been developed, the majority of rapid detection of Toxoplasma gondii in animal and their meat product has been dependent on immunogenic assays. Thus, there is still a need for more reliable PCR based detection method for T. gondii in retail meats. Recently, a 529-bp repeat element that exists in 200-300 copies per genome of T. gondii genome had been spotlighted for its usefulness as potential detection targers. In this study, the 529-bp repeat element was selected for real-time PCR to detect three types of T. gondii (type I, II and III). A primer pair targeting 82-bp of the 529-bp element detected all three types of T. gondii and showed high level of specificity against 14 different food-borne pathogens as well as 3 protozoan parasites such as Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium parvum and Entamoeba histolytica. Application of the new real-time PCR assay in meat samples showed improved detection sensitivity compared to the B1-gene targeted method suggesting potential new target for Toxoplasma gondii screening in retail meats.

Throughout the agraian society, industrial society, information society, and the knowledge-based society, the word father has become the representation of the law, oder, control, protection, and discipline. This study, with traditional fairy tale "Le petit chaperon rouge", aim to analyze the child readers a notion familly around 'me' and conceiving the father as the unit of the institution; also, in the Korean film , cinema audiences feeling keenly the necessity of the conventional family values and looking for the poster of principal agent of law and order. Generally the father is protector of 'me' and simutaneously, is incorporal being; even if he is inessential, he has, only by the name, great influence with people(law, order, control, discipline, are operating only with the name as the father God does). Our study will show how the signifier father operates and what similarity is between the film and the traditional fairy tale. A father is recognized as a tyrant or criminal, but a man is always realized to undertake a duty of resisting unjust powers and protecting nonperson. Those opposing structures was well represented in epic works such as"Le petit chaperon rouge" and . The father described in children's tale appeared as a symbol of desire and oppression, therefore youngster readers realized around 'Me' the concept of family through the absence of a father and received the father as a unit in the system. A father in a film has been described as a protector of nonperson, and a main part in the institution and order of traditional family. In both genre, the psychological signifiant of father still has been shown based on the symbol of father as a social institution.
