  • Purpose: This concept analysis was done to clarify 'uncertainty in epilepsy'. Methods: Walker and Avant's methodology guided the analysis. In addition, the concept was compared with uncertainty in other health problems. Results: 'Uncertainty in epilepsy' was defined as being in the condition as seen from the epilepsy experience where cues were difficult to understand because they changed, were in discord with past ones, or they had two or more contradictory values at the same time. Uncertainty in epilepsy is evolved from appraisal of the epilepsy experience. As a result, uncertainty leads epilepsy patients, their family or health care providers to impaired functioning and proactive/passive coping behavior. Conclusion: Epilepsy patients with uncertainty need to be supported by nursing strategies for proactive, rational coping behavior. This achievement has implications for interventions aimed at changing perception of epilepsy patients, their families or health care providers who must deal with uncertainty.

  • Purpose: This paper is a report on the concept analysis of family-centered care for hospitalized children. Methods: The concept analysis approach of Walker and Avant was used. A search of multidisciplinary literature published between 1960 and 2016 was undertaken using the keyword 'family centered care' or 'family centered nursing' combined with hospitalized children. Attributes, antecedents, and consequences were inductively derived from the citations analyzed (n=19). Results: The attributes of family-centered care included (1) family respect, (2) collaboration, (3) family support, and (4) information sharing. These attributes are influenced by the 'willingness of family to participate', 'competency and willingness of staff,' and 'institution policy and system.' Additionally, family-centered care does significantly impact 'the health of the children', 'family empowerment' and 'work satisfaction and self-confidence of staff'. Conclusion: Family-centered care of hospitalized children as defined by the result of this study will contribute to the theoretical foundation for application in pediatric nursing practice.

  • In recent years, main focus of research on image retrieval techniques is on content-based image retrieval. Text-based image retrieval schemes, on the other hand, provide semantic support and efficient retrieval of matching images. In this paper, based on Formal Concept Analysis (FCA), we propose a new image indexing and retrieval technique. The proposed scheme uses keywords and textual annotations and provides semantic support with fast retrieval of images. Retrieval efficiency in this scheme is independent of the number of images in the database and depends only on the number of attributes. This scheme provides dynamic support for addition of new images in the database and can be adopted to find images with any number of matching attributes.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the clear concept of patient safety and obtain theoretical evidences. Methods Research was conducted using Walker & Avant's conceptual analysis process. Results: Patient safety was defined as a activity that minimizes and removes possible errors and injuries to patients. It includes a basic desire to secure the patient's right to safety, and the legal regulations and duties of medical teams. The results of the establishment of a safety culture are patient-centered medical treatment and caring. Antecedents were found to be open and clear communications, continuous education and training for health care personnel, sufficient allocation of qualified personnel, cooperation among departments, improvements in the recognition of patient safety. Consequences were found to be the provision of high quality medical care and treatment, and increase in patient satisfaction. Conclusion: Patient safety as defined by the results of this study will contribute to the foundation of institutionalization of the pursuit of patient safety and creation of a hospital culture focusing on patient safety as a first priority.

  • Increasing product variety based on product family and product platform provides a company with a competitive advantage over its competitors. As products become more complex, short-life cycled and customized, the design efforts require more knowledge-intensive, collaborative and coordinating efforts for information sharing. By sharing knowledge, information, component and process across different families of products, the product realization process will be more efficient, cost-effective and quick-responsive. Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is used for analyzing data and forming semantic structures that are formal abstractions of concepts of human thoughts. A Web Ontology Language (OWL) is designed for applications that need to process the content of information instead of simply presenting information to humans. OWL also captures the evolution of different components of the product family. The purpose of this paper is to develop product variety modeling to increase the usefulness of common platform. In constructing and analyzing product ontology, FCA is adopted for conceptual knowledge processing. For the selected product family, product variety Ontology is constructed and implemented using prot$\'{e}$g$\'{e}$-2000.

  • Given the growing interest in damage control training for the naval ships and their organizations, expectations for a new concept of training program have also increased. The existing training programs and its concept focus on training crew to be more proficient and skilled so that they can respond better to damage situations, i.e., fires and flooding. This paper suggests a development procedure of damage control training scenarios using the survivability analysis results as a new concept of damage control training programs employing advanced systems such as damage control console, automation system, and kill cards. This approach could help the decision maker not only enhance his or her capability but also improve the reacting capability of crew members for complex situations induced by a weapon hit.

  • Purpose. The purpose of this study was to obtain a clearer understanding of spirituality and examine the process of spirituality through defining the meaning and attributes of spirituality. Method. Concept analysis was done in the three phases, theoretical phase, fieldwork phase, and analytical phase suggested in the Hybrid Model. Five people participated in the fieldwork phase. Results. Spirituality is activated through self-awareness which occurs as spirit being activated through self-introspection, and through restoration of the relationship with Supreme Being. This interconnectedness with Supreme Being has an absolute impact on one's harmonious interconnectedness with self and neighbors, thus leads all the critical attributes of spirituality to be revealed. The core energy of this harmonious inter-connectedness is love. When activated, it has a great impact on an individual as integrative energy, leads one to go beyond everyday experience as well as to have new perspectives, and to live a satisfactory life in every aspect. Conclusion. The results of this study suggest that promotion of connectedness is the most important element in spiritual nursing interventions. The results can also be used effectively in developing spirituality assessment scales and theory.

  • Isogeometric concept is introduced to carry out free vibration analysis of plane structures. The geometry of structures is represented by using non-uniform rational B-spline surface (NURBS) and its basis function is consistently used in the formulation of plane stress element. In addition, multi-patch strategy is introduced to deal with the openings in building. The performance of the present isogeometric plane stress element is investigated by using five numerical examples. From numerical results, it is found to be that the isogeometric concept can successfully identify reliable natural frequencies and associated mode shapes of plane structures with/without openings in efficient way.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to perform a concept analysis of quality nursing care. Methods: Walker and Avant's concept analysis method was used to carry out this study. Results: The defining attributes identified were as follows: caring, the nurse-patient relationship, and patient needs. Antecedents included patient characteristics, individual factors (age, education, knowledge, competence, and experience), job position, and environmental factors. The consequences of quality nursing care have significant influence on both patients and nurses. Conclusion: The findings can aid researchers in obtaining a better understanding of quality nursing care, and stakeholders can consider the factors related to quality nursing care and its consequences to improve the nursing process.

  • The purpose of this study to gather information on demographic statistics, children’s attachment to their mothers, and daily stress variants in order to assess their effects on child’s self-concept and depression within multi-ethnic familiy settings. A questionnaire survey was used to targeted 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders in elementary schools in Jeonnam. A total of 158 children were surveyed. SPSS for Windows 12.0 was used to carry out descriptive, and comparative statistical analysis such as Cronbach's $\alpha$, correlations analysis, and a hierarchical regression analysis. Result showed that the most significant variant affecting self-concept among children from multi-ethnic families was attachment to their mothers. Other related individual variants were in order of importance, communication skills, feelings of alienation, and mothers’ nationalities. The variant most responsible for having an affect on depression among children from multi-entnic families was the attachment to their mothers. Other related individual variants were in order of importance, feelings of alienation, stress from peer relationships, mothers’ nationalities, and stress from economic and physical environments.
