Although environmental education has been more important due to global extreme weather and natural desasters, environmental topics are covered by several other subjects because it is not an independent subject in elementary school and they need to distribute more class hours to cover proper amount of environmental content. This study is performed to develop method to integrate environmental education and software education in elementary school. This method helps students to learn topics about recycling by using Artificial Intelligence programming and Artificial Intelligence also helps students to practice recycling in virtual reality. A new teaching and learning module(Problem Recognition→Machine Learning↔Use of AI→Collaboration) is adopted for the learning procedure and more than 80 % of the students replied positively to the survey about the interest on integrated learning, understanding of environmental education, understanding of Artificial Intelligence, further learning on Artificial Intelligence programming.
As information and communication technology has developed remarkably, it has become possible to analyze various types of large-volume data generated at a speed close to real time, and based on this, reliable value creation has become possible. Such big data analysis is becoming an important means of supporting decision-making based on scientific figures. The purpose of this study is to develop a big data analysis tool that can analyze large amounts of data generated through engineering education. The tasks of this study are as follows. First, a database is designed to store the information of entries in the National Creative Capstone Design Contest. Second, the pre-processing process is checked for analysis with big data analysis tools. Finally, analyze the data using the developed big data analysis tool. In this study, 1,784 works submitted to the National Creative Comprehensive Design Contest from 2014 to 2019 were analyzed. As a result of selecting the top 10 words through topic analysis, 'robot' ranked first from 2014 to 2019, and energy, drones, ultrasound, solar energy, and IoT appeared with high frequency. This result seems to reflect the current core topics and technology trends of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In addition, it seems that due to the nature of the Capstone Design Contest, students majoring in electrical/electronic, computer/information and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, and chemical/new materials engineering who can submit complete products for problem solving were selected. The significance of this study is that the results of this study can be used in the field of engineering education as basic data for the development of educational contents and teaching methods that reflect industry and technology trends. Furthermore, it is expected that the results of big data analysis related to engineering education can be used as a means of preparing preemptive countermeasures in establishing education policies that reflect social changes.
In this paper, the information education plan of the Ministry of Education and offices of education was analyzed in relation to the construction of the AI convergence education room. And based on this, an appropriate construction direction was suggested. For research, AI convergence education room construction plan, budget amount per school and etc were analyzed in the information education plan of the Ministry of Education, KERIS, KOFAC, and the plan of leading schools for AI education. Although the Ministry of Education is making various efforts to promote SW education and artificial intelligence convergence education, it is found that the number is far insufficient compared to the number of elementary, middle and high schools. Efforts to expand the information education room at the government level are continuously required, and in order to utilize the developed artificial intelligence convergence education room, it is necessary to provide abundant teaching and learning examples for the construction space model. In addition, school-level planning and execution must be followed so that the constructed space can be used appropriately, and management and maintenance plans for equipment are required.
Quite a few elementary school teachers began to utilize AI technology in order to provide students with customized, intelligent information services in recent years. However, learning principles of AI may be as important as utilizing AI in everyday life because understanding principles of AI can empower them to buildup adaptability to changes in highly technological world. In the paper, 'Linear Regression Algorithm' is selected for teaching AI-based prediction system to solve real world problems suitable for elementary students. A simulation program written in Scratch was developed so that students can find a solution of linear regression model using the program. The paper shows that students have learned analyzing data as well as comparing the accuracy of the prediction model. Also, they have shown the ability to solve real world problems by finding suitable prediction models.

Humanities are as crucial as the technology itself in the intelligent information society. Human-centered convergence information technology (IT), which reflects emotional and human nature, can be considered a unique technology with an optimistic outlook in the unpredictable future. Based on this research background, this paper proposed an education model that can improve the IT humanities capabilities of various learners, including elementary and secondary students, prospective teachers, incumbent teachers, school managers, and the general public, through analysis of previous studies on convergence education models. Furthermore, the practical aspects of the proposed model were closely examined so that the proposed education model could be stably incorporated and utilized in the educational field. There are seven strategies for implementing the education model proposed in this paper, including research on textbooks, teaching and learning materials, activation of research results, maker space creation, global joint research, online education operation, developing living lab governance, and diversification of self-sustaining platforms for sustainable and practical education. In the future, validity verification through expert Delphi is required as a follow-up study.
Recently, with an emphasis on software proficiency, universities are providing software education to all students regardless of their majors. However, non-majors often lack motivation for software education and perceive the unfamiliar learning content as more challenging. To address this issue, tailored software education according to the learners' characteristics is essential. Art students, for instance, with their strong visual comprehension and expressive abilities, can benefit from utilizing visual literacy to enhance the effectiveness of programming education. In this study, we propose decomposing everyday problems into flowcharts and pseudocode to construct procedural and visual images. Using the educational programming language PlayBot, we aim to analyze the effectiveness of teaching by coding to solve problems. Through this approach, students are expected to grasp programming concepts, understand problem-solving processes through computational thinking, and acquire skills to apply programming in their respective fields.
The purpose of this study is to examine the capabilities of ChatGPT as a tool for supporting students in generating mathematical arguments that can be considered proofs. To examine this, we engaged students enrolled in a mathematics pathways course in evaluating and revising their original arguments using ChatGPT feedback. Students attempted to find and prove a method for the area of a triangle given its side lengths. Instead of directly asking students to prove a formula, we asked them to explore a method to find the area of a triangle given the lengths of its sides and justify why their methods work. Students completed these ChatGPT-embedded proving activities as class homework. To investigate the capabilities of ChatGPT as a proof tutor, we used these student homework responses as data for this study. We analyzed and compared original and revised arguments students constructed with and without ChatGPT assistance. We also analyzed student-written responses about their perspectives on mathematical proof and proving and their thoughts on using ChatGPT as a proof assistant. Our analysis shows that our participants' approaches to constructing, evaluating, and revising their arguments aligned with their perspectives on proof and proving. They saw ChatGPT's evaluations of their arguments as similar to how they usually evaluate arguments of themselves and others. Mostly, they agreed with ChatGPT's suggestions to make their original arguments more proof-like. They, therefore, revised their original arguments following ChatGPT's suggestions, focusing on improving clarity, providing additional justifications, and showing the generality of their arguments. Further investigation is needed to explore how ChatGPT can be effectively used as a tool in teaching and learning mathematical proof and proof-writing.
This study studied a teaching model for software education using generative AI. The purpose of the study is to use ChatGPT as an instructor's assistant in programming classes for non-major students by using ChatGPT in software education. In addition, we designed ChatGPT to enable individual learning for learners and provide immediate feedback when students need it. The research method was conducted using ChatGPT as an assistant for non-computer majors taking a liberal arts Python class. In addition, we confirmed whether ChatGPT has the potential as an assistant in programming education for non-major students. Students actively used ChatGPT for writing assignments, correcting errors, writing coding, and acquiring knowledge, and confirmed various advantages, such as being able to focus on understanding the program rather than spending a lot of time resolving errors. We were able to see the potential for ChatGPT to increase students' learning efficiency, and we were able to see that more research is needed on its use in education. In the future, research will be conducted on the development, supplementation, and evaluation methods of educational models using ChatGPT.
Background: Recognizing that access to safe and healthy working conditions is a human right, the World Health Organization (WHO) calls for specific occupational safety and health (OSH) programs for health workers (HWs). The WHO health systems' building blocks, and the International Labour Organization (ILO), highlight the importance of information as part of effective systems. This study examined how OSH stakeholders access, use, and value an occupational health information system (OHIS). Methods: A cross-sectional survey of OSH stakeholders was conducted as part of a larger quasi experimental study in four teaching hospitals. The study hospitals and participants were purposefully selected and data collected using a modified questionnaire with both closed and open-ended questions. Quantitative analysis was conducted and themes identified for qualitative analysis. Ethics approval was provided by the University of Pretoria and University of British Columbia. Results: There were 71 participants comprised of hospital managers, health and safety representatives, trade unions representatives and OSH professionals. At least 42% reported poor accessibility and poor timeliness of OHIS for decision-making. Only 50% had access to computers and 27% reported poor computer skills. When existing, OHIS was poorly organized and needed upgrades, with 85% reporting the need for significant reforms. Only 45% reported use of OHIS for decision-making in their OSH role. Conclusion: Given the gap in access and utilization of information needed to protect worker's rights to a safe and healthy workplace, more attention is warranted to OHIS development and use as well as education and training in South Africa and beyond.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation between social education and secondary education of seaside and sea village schools for supporting the successors to fishery. Objects of the study were five groups; 321 fishermen, 107 staff members of a Fishery Guidance Center, 1, 001 students, 306 teachers of sea villages, 193 staff members of a Fishery Cooperative Association. The questionaire used for this study was made after preliminary counseling with fishermen in sea villages and teachers in seaside schools. The results of this study are as follow ; 1) About the value of Fishery and successors to Fishery There have been more positive responses than negative ones to the question on the value of fishery. The main reason for positive responses lies in the potentiality for development of fishery but the negative responses are because of the heavy work. 56.8% of the respondents expected an increasing number of successor to fishery, but 43.2% of the respondents had a negative foresight on that problem. The negative respondents stated that the fisherman that moved from the sea villages to the urban areas are responsible for the none increasing numbers of successors to fishery. Most of the respondents answered that government support is needed in order to increase the number of successors to fishery. 2) Social education for Fishermen Only 40% of fishermen know the Fishing Village Guidance Center as the main institute for social education. 94.17% of the respondents prefer plural institutes to single ones. 5.9% of the respondents answered with opposit opinions. 40.4% of the respondents answered that technical teachings has not often been practised. The reason why technical teaching does not often come into effect are as follows; lack of technical expertise, insufficient concern of staff members of the Guidance Center or the Cooperation Association. Also fishermen answered that the Fisherman Guidance Center does not often practise technical education. The Fishery Cooperation Association with its social education for fisherman takes the role of education for the economical way and carries out financial assistance. The relationship between the Fishery Cooperative Association and fishermen is presented satisfactory. However, the frequency of education is not satisfactory. Indifferences between staff members of the Fishery Cooperative Association does not carry out fishery education very often. Also loaned money matters were not satisfactory. 3) Secondary education for Fishery This study showed that it is desirable that the practical course of middle schools in islets and seaside villages take education on fishery ; however, a few schools only take the practical course fishery. Most of the fishery high schools want computer education as a new recommendable course. The students of fishery high schools want computer education as a new recommendable course. The students of fishery high schools have problems with scientific terms in the text books for the practical of fishery high schools have problems with scientific terms in the text books for the practical courses. Over 80% of the respondents agreed that the principals of schools in islets and sea side villages should be men having majored in fishery. 4) The connection between social education and secondary education for fishery a. It is desirable that the principal and vice principal of secondary schools in islets and sea side villages are men majored in fishery. b. It is recommendable that fishery courses are taken as practical courses in fishery village schools for it is helpful to relate between the vocation and the district's special character, as well as to built up relation between the middle school education and the fishery high school education. c. The teachers of fishery high schools and the officials of government offices which are related to fishery should work together to realize a program on teaching various kinds of techniques and give other useful informations to fishermen. d. During the vacations the fishery high school could be used for the social education of fishermen. Seminars on fishery technique and cultural aspects could be held. Especially a spiritual education which is needed for the improvement of the society of fishermen could be achieved by a cultural education. e. On the state level a financial support to raise the number of successors to fishery, a national policy for the betterment of the life of fishermen, as well as active publicity activities are necessary. f. A financial support of the government for raising the number of the successors to fishery is needed. For this purpose a fishery education performed on a state level would be desirable.
