가상현실 네비게이션을 위한 보행 이동 시스템의 개발 (A Walking Movement System for Virtual Reality Navigation)

  • A walking navigation system (usually known as a locomotion interface) is an interactive platform which gives simulated walking sensation to users using sensed bipedal motion signals. This enables us to perform navigation tasks using only bipedal movement. Especially, it is useful for the certain VR task which emphasizes on physical human movement, or accompanies understanding of the size and complexity of building structures. In this work, we described system components of VR walking system and investigated several types of walking platform by literature survey. We adopted a MS Kinect depth sensor for the motion recognition and a treadmill which includes directional turning mechanism for the walking platform. Through the integration of these components with a VR navigation scenario, we developed a simple VR walking navigation system. Finally several technical issues were found during development process, and further research directions were suggested for the system improvement.

Prescreening of Environmental Conditions for Prediction of Severe Operation Condition of Offshore Structures

  • Offshore structures might encounter several environmental and operating conditions during their lifetime of several decades. In order to predict the dynamic behavior of offshore structures, several simulation cases should be considered to deal with all the combinations of ocean environments and operating conditions. Because a sophisticated time-domain coupled dynamic analysis requires an extremely large amount of computational time to handle all the possible cases, an efficient preliminary process to prescreen the probability of severe environmental conditions can be helpful in downsizing the number of simulation cases and computational effort. In this study, a prescreening procedure to reduce the number of environmental conditions for dynamic analyses of offshore structures is proposed. For the efficiency of the procedure, frequency-domain theories were adopted to estimate the platform offset, using quasi-static analyses in line tension prediction. The results were validated by comparing with those of dynamic analysis coupled between platform and mooring lines, and reasonable agreement was observed. In addition, the characteristics of environmental conditions classified to be severe to the system were investigated through the application of the developed prescreening scheme to several actual environmental conditions.

지하철 역사 형상을 고려한 PSD 비정상 풍압해석 (Unsteady Wind Pressure Analysis on PSD Considering Subway Station Configurations)

  • 본 연구에서는 열차와 지하철 역사 형상긴의 유통 흐름에 대한 상호작용을 고려하여 승강장 스크린도어(PSD)봐 비정상 풍압해석을 수행하였다. PSD의 주목적은 열차가 역사 안으로 진입할 때, 인명사고를 예방하고 풍압, 오염된 분진, 소음 등을 차단하는데 있다. PSD에 대한 비정상 풍압수준을 정확하게 예측하기 위하여 이동격자법을 활용한 전산유체역학 기법이 적용되었다. 개방형 및 밀폐형 역사가 고려되었으며, 열차가 역사를 통과하는 경우와 역사에서 멈추는 경우에 대한 풍압 수준을 상호 비교하였다.

  • 최근 다양한 분야의 융합 연구에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 이러한 시대 흐름에 발맞추어, 다수의 계산과학공학 분야의 연구자들의 연구 활동을 지원하고 학생들의 학습 의욕을 증진시키기 위한 IT기반 학제-간 융합 사업인 EDISON 프로젝트가 발주되었다. 우리는 2011년부터 이 EDISON 프로젝트를 성공적으로 수행해오고 있다. EDISON은 사이버-러닝 플랫폼으로서, 계산과학공학 연구자들이 거대 계산 및 I/O가 필요한 자신의 연구 문제를 해결하기 위해 개발한 고성능 컴퓨팅 시뮬레이션 소프트웨어를 웹에서 자유롭게 공유할 수 있게 하고, 사용자들의 아무런 제약 없이 실행할 수 있게 한다. 또한 EDISON은 국내 많은 대학의 강의 자료로 활용되고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 EDISON 플랫폼의 구축 및 서비스 통계를 소개한다. 구체적으로, 우리는 기존 다른 고성능 계산과학 플랫폼과 EDISON 플랫폼과의 몇몇 차이를 설명하고, EDISON 플랫폼의 세 가지 기술적 계층 구조에 대해 논의한다. 이어 지난 4년 동안 EDISON 서비스에 대한 최신 통계를 제시한다. 끝으로, 본 논문의 결론을 맺고, 향후 계획에 대해 기술한다.

  • Systems architecture of information models for construction industry is introduced. The architecture ful fills international standards, such as ISO 10303(STEP) and IAI IFC, etc. It is defined in web service description language(WSDL) and ISO 10303-11(EXPRESS) language. A standard platform for this standard architecture is also developed. This platform has several tools which can transform EXPRESS description file into C++ or Java languages and which also can generate an IDL file or OWL file from an EXPRESS file. System architects, software engineers, information system consultants can use these standards to define their information model for construction industry in standardized way. Construction engineers can test this information model with ease using standard testing tools and testing method, which is also a part of standard architecture of information systems for virtual construction.

  • The specific goal of the SMS (Ship Management System) is to increate ship safety and decrease maintenance fee. Equipment of ship is managed by PMS (Planned Management System), subsystem of SMS. But hull has not managed by ship manager. So, the Classes have developed the system for hull maintenance. Recently, the ship maintenance system has been developed for satisfying operator's requirements such as managing maintenance data as integrated platform, intuitive manipulation and design for ease of use. To reflect such requirement, 3D Model based maintenance system was introduced for ship in operation stage. Hull items that have to be inspected, repaired, replaced, are stored in integrated data platform with drawing, reports, and etc. and completely linked to 3D product Model. This system is specially developed for measurement and maintenance of hull thickness.

한국고속전철(KTX)이 역사를 통과할 때 격벽의 높이에 따른 풍하중의 변화에 대한 수치해석 연구 (A Numerical Study on Effect of a Partition Wall Height on Wind Pressure Load when KTX passes through a Station)

  • A high speed train passing through a station may have undesired effects to passengers on platform due to abrupt pressure transients. Therefore it is very important to reduce the possible degree of danger by installing partition walls in passing lanes in designing the stations having passing train. In the present study, a pressure load to a passenger on platform is studied for the cases of various heights of the partition wall to assess the effectiveness of the wall on the passenger safety. From the results, it is seen that the pressure load on a passenger may be largely reduced by the partition wall. The heights of the partition wall for various passing speed are also studied based on the safety regulation.

  • In the present study, a numerical simulation of the subway carriage fire is performed to determine the more effective operation of Trackway Exhaust System(TES) in underground stations. The four types of possible TES operation (OSUS, OSUE, OEUS and OEUE) is simulated and compared their removal capability of smoke and hot temperature for the carriage fire of 2MW. From the results, the distribution of temperature and smoke concentration is more dependent on the operation of fans located at upper side of the platform than those at lower side. It is also found from the results that for more efficient smoke control, the fans at upper side of the platform should be operated as an exhaust system. Whereas the fans at lower side can be operated as a supply system to aid upper exhaust fans.

  • The screen doors installed in the station of subway are subject to the train-wind pressure caused by the operation of trains. The train-wind pressure has to be correctly estimated for the design of safe structure of screen doors. As three-dimensional numerical flow analysis technology has been significantly developed, the analysis on the train-wind pressure with diverse variables such as train specifications, train speed, tunnel and station configurations, and blockage ratio can be effectively carried out with three-dimensional numerical method. In this study, computational analysis of train-induced wind in a subway tunnel employing the screen doors are carried out by using the three-dimensional numerical method with the model of the moving boundary for the run of trains. While the numerical analysis of train-wind pressure was applied on the one island-type station in the Seoul Subway Line 2, maximum pressure of 494 Pa was estimated on the screen door when two trains pass each other at the speed of 80km/h in the platform.

  • This study proposes a way to validate BIM data quality in BIM applications. Solibri model checker is adopted as a module development platform, which is based on Java programming language. The platform makes application developers implement BIM model checker for their own purpose. This study has developed a BIM validation module for circulation analysis of building design. The validation module enables end-users to automatically detect data corrupted or not defined. In case studies, the module found that an IFC file generated from a BIM software has wrong relation information between a space and boundary elements. A building model should satisfy modeling requirements and then domain users can get analysis results. The BIM data validation module needs to be developed in each BIM application domain.
