  • In this paper, we study existence of extremal solutions for fuzzy differential equations driven by Liu process. To show extremal solutions, we define partial ordering relative to fuzzy process. This is an extension of the results of Kwun et al. [5] and Rodríguez-López [13] to fuzzy differential equations in credibility space.

  • Based on the Exp-function method and a suitable transformation, new generalized solitonary solutions including free parameters of the MDI and Sawada-Kotera equations with variable coefficients are obtained, form which solitary wave solutions and periodic solutions including some known solutions reported in open literature are derived as special cases. The free parameters in the obtained generalized solitonary solutions might imply some meaningful results in the physical models. It is shown that the Exp-function method provides a very effective and important new method for nonlinear evolution equations with variable coefficients.

  • It is well known that mathematical solutions for multi-agent planning problems are very difficult to obtain due to the complexity of mutual interactions among multi-agents. Most of the past research results are thus based on the probabilistic completeness. However, the practicality and effectiveness of the solution from the probabilistic completeness is significantly reduced by heavy computational burden. In this paper, we propose a practically applicable solution technique for multi-agent planning problems, which assures a reasonable computation time and a real world application for more than 3 multi-agents, for the case of general shaped paths in agent movement. First, to reduce the computation time, an extended collision map is developed and utilized for detecting potential collisions and obtaining collision-free solutions for multi-agents. Second, a priority for multi-agents is considered for successive and interactive modifications of the agent movements with lower priority. Various solutions using speed reduction and time delay of the relevant agents are investigated and compared in terms of the computation time. A practical implementation is finally provided for three different types of agents to emphasize the effectiveness of the proposed interactive approach to multi-agent planning problems.

  • In the discrete optimum design, occasionally, the solutions oscillate between the feasible and the infeasible resions during the series of redesigns of members with discrete sections. This phenomenon may be caused inherently by the discontinuity of variables of commercially available sections in the database. In this paper, in-depth investigation into the oscillation in the discrete optimization and its control has been conducted. When the structure is optimized through element optimization, the oscillation can be divided into two categories, local and global oscillations. An algorithm which controls these phenomena is suggested and numerical examples demonstrate the oscillation in optimum solutions and the effectiveness of the control strategy suggested here.

  • An implicit discontinuous Galerkin method for the two-dimensional Euler equations was developed on unstructured triangular meshes. The method can achieve high-order spatial accuracy by using hierachical basis functions based on Legendre polynomials. Numerical tests were conducted to estimate the convergence order of numerical solutions to the Ringleb flow and the supersonic vortex flow for which analytic solutions are available. Also, the flows around a 2-D circular cylinder and an NACA0012 airfoil were numerically simulated. The numerical results showed that the implicit discontinuous Galerkin methods couples with a high-order representation of curved solid boundaries can be an efficient method to obtain very accurate numerical solutions on unstructured meshes.

  • A high-order discontinuous Galerkin method for the two-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations was developed on unstructured triangular meshes. For this purpose, the BR2 methd(the second Bassi and Rebay discretization) was adopted for space discretization and an implicit Euler backward method was used for time integration. Numerical tests were conducted to estimate the convergence order of the numerical solutions of the Poiseuille flow for which analytic solutions are available for comparison. Also, the flows around a flat plate, a 2-D circular cylinder, and an NACA0012 airfoil were numerically simulated. The numerical results showed that the present implicit discontinuous Galerkin method is an efficient method to obtain very accurate numerical solutions of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations on unstructured meshes.

  • In this study, we present the exact methods of transforming the continuous solutions into the discrete ones for two types of bit-loading problem, marginal adaptive (MA) and rate adaptive (RA) problem, in multicarrier communication systems. While the computational complexity of existing solution methods for discrete optimal solutions depends on the number of bits to be assigned (R), the proposed method determined by the number of subcarriers (N), making ours be more efficient in most cases where R is much larger than N. Furthermore our methods have some strength of their simpler form to make a practical use.

  • This paper has the objects of deciding dynamic instability regions of thick plates on Pasternak foundation by finite element method and providing kinematic design data for mats and slabs of building structures. In this paper, dynamic stability analysis of tapered opening thick plate is done by use of Serendipity finite element with 8 nodes considering shearing strain of plate. To verify this finite element method, buckling stress and natural frequencies of thick pate with or without in-plane stress are compared with existing solutions. The results are as follow that this finite element solutions with 4x4 meshes are shown the error of maximum 0.56% about existing solutions, and obtained dynamic instability graph according with variation of opening positions.

  • This study is concerned with developing a heuristic for a web-based vehicle routing problem using mixed genetic algorithm(VRPMGA) which determines each vehicle route in order to minimize the transportation costs, subject to meeting the demands of all delivery points. VRP is known to be NP-hard, and it needs a lot of computing time to get the optimal solution, so that heuristics are more frequently developed than optimal algorithms. This study aims to develop a mixed genetic algorithm by partitioned strategy which can give a good solution in comparatively brief time. The good features of the VRPMGA are, fristly, the ability of early convergence and, secondly, the capability of producing multiple, alternative, and near-optimal solutions. The VRPMGA is a useful algorithm that can be appliable to VRP and TSP. Finally, the computational test were performed using the benchmark problems and the proposed heuristic is compared with the other existing algorithms (COSA). The result of computational tests shows that proposed heuristic gives good solutions, in much shorter time, which are same as the best known solutions in the pervious research.

  • Application of the flat shell element with drilling D.O.F to linear buckling analysis of thin-walled structures is presented in this paper. The shell element has been developed basically by combining a membrane element with drilling D.O.F. and Mindlin plate bending element. Thus, the shell element possesses six degrees-of-freedom per node which, in addition to improvement of the element behavior, permits an easy connection to other six degrees-of-freedom per node elements(CLS, Choi and Lee, 1995). Accordingly, structures like folded plate and stiffened shell structure, for which it is hard to find the analytical solutions, can be analyzed using these developed flat shell elements. In this paper, linear buckling analysis of thin-walled structures like folded plate structures using the shell elements(CLS) with drilling D.O.F. to be formulated and then fulfilled. Subsequently, buckling modes and the critical loads can be output. Finally. finite element solutions for linear buckling analysis of folded plate structures are compared with available analytic solutions and other researcher's results.
