  • Prediction for the compressive strength of concrete by non-destructive tests(NDT) has a tendency to show different outcomes according to various aggregates. The purpose of this study is to develop estimation equation by rebound number, ultrasonic velocity and combined method at concrete structures which used granite as coarse aggregates. The test variable is water/cement ratio(41.1%, 48.6%, 67.6%), curing method(moisture condition, dry condition) and age(7, 14, 28, 56). According to the test variable, new equation was suggested, and compared with the existing equations.

  • This paper presents estimation of average compressive strengths of three types of stiffened panels under lateral pressure and axial compression based on simplified formulas from CSRs and nonlinear FEAs. FEA scenarios are prepared based on the slenderness ratios of the stiffened panels used for in-service vessels. The seven step lateral pressures by 1bar increment are imposed on FE models assuming maximum 30m water height. The number of FEAs for FB-, AB-, and TB-stiffened panels is totally 189 times. FEA results show that existence of pressure can evolves significant reduction of ultimate strengths, meanwhile CSR formulas do not take into account the lateral pressure effect. Lateral pressure acting on the stiffened panel with higher column slenderness ratio more reduces the ultimate strengths than those with smaller column slenderness ratio. A new concept of relative average compressive strain energy instead of the ultimate strength is introduced in order to rationally compare the average compressive strength through complete compressive straining regime. The differences of the ultimate strengths between CSR formulas and FEA results are relatively small for FB- and AB-stiffened panels, but larger discrepancies of relative average compressive strain energies are shown.

  • In this study, the pile filling materials of the pile in drilled piling was studied. cement milk is mostly used as the filling materials of bored pile. The use of filling material based on cement milk is inefficient at field construction because it needs a lot of the charging mass. thickening agent was added to the cement milk to perform settlement estimation experiment on a circular cylinder, and as a result of examining the compressive strength of the day, it was found that the settlement estimation was significantly reduced. However, the strength was relatively low, it was confirmed that there was no problem with the regulation because the main surface fixative required relatively low strength.

  • To evaluate the compressive strength of concrete, rebound test and ultra pulse velocity methods as well as core test were widely used. The predicted strength effected by age, maturity and degradation of concrete, is a slight difference between in-situ concrete strength. The compressive strength of standard cylinder specimens and core samples by obtained from drilling will have a difference since the concrete is disturbed during the drilling by machinery. And the rebound number and ultra pulse velocity are also changed according to the age and maturity of concrete that effected to the surface hardness and microscpic minuteness. The authors performed the experimental work to reflect the age and core effect to the results from NDE test. The test results considering on the core and age of concrete were compaired with the proposed equation to predict the compressive strength.

  • It is necessary for prediction of recycled aggregate concrete(RAC) strength at the early stage that facilitate concrete form removal and scheduling for construction. However, to predict RAC strength is difficult because of being influenced by complicated many factors. Therefore, this research suggest optimized estimation method that can reflect many factors. One way is Case-Based Reasoning(CBR) that solved new problems by adapting solutions to similar problems solved in the past, which are solved in the case library. Other way is Artificial Neural Networks(ANN) that solved new problems by training using a set of data, which is representative of problem domain. This study is to propose comparing accuracy of the estimating the compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete using Case-Based Reasoning(CBR) and Artificial Neural Networks(ANN).

  • Although construction company try to get good quality control it's enough to study about developing objective evaluation method and checking quality method. It is important to meaning concrete quality at placing point, immediate quality checking method is limited. The purpose of this study is to develop new method to know early 28-day concrete for getting faithful quality control. The results of this study are as follows :1) With sealed molds, reduced moisture volatilization to more than 50% and enlarged 20% accelerated compressive strength than before one. 2) Accelerated compressive strength of concrete specimen shows higher strength when it was in the air for long time 3)Interrelation with 7-day and 28-day strength were 0.781,0.90, It is higher than before one

  • Nondestructive tests are useful method in rapidly evaluating the condition of existing concrete structures. An objective of this work is to investigate the factors influencing the longitudinal wave velocity-strength relationship, such as w/c ratio, curing temperature, curing condition. Test results show that a change in the w/c ratio ranging from 0.46 to 0.88 and in the curing temperature from 1$0^{\circ}C$ to 3$0^{\circ}C$ did not alter the velocity-strength relationship. however, curing methods had significant effects on the velocity-strength relationship. Therefore, the estimation of compressive strength until 28 day can be accomplished by only a nonlinear equation with consideration of curing condition.

  • The ultrasonic pulse velocity test has a strong potential to be developed into a very useful and relatively inexpensive in-place test for assuring the quality of concrete placed in structure. The main problem in realizing this potential is that the relationship between compressive strength ad ultrasonic pulse velocity is uncertain and concrete is an inherently variable material. The objective of this study is to improve the reliability of in-place concrete strength predictions by ultrasonic pulse velocity method. Experimental cement content, s/a rate, and curing condition of concrete. Accuracy of the prediction expressed in empirical formula are examined by multiple regression analysis and linear regression analysis and practical equation for estimation the concrete strength are proposed. Multiple regression model uses water-cement ratio cement content s/a rate, and pulse velocity as dependent variables and the compressive strength as an independent variable. Also linear regression model is used to only pulse velocity as dependent variables. Comparing the results of the analysis the proposed equation expressed highest reliability than other previous proposed equations.

  • This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of estimating the setting time and compressive strength in Ternary Blended Concrete(TBC) using Settimeter, Strength meter, and Hybrid meter. It was determined that the hardness values at the initial setting time and final setting time of Settimeter, Hybrid meter, and at the 5 MPa of Strength meter were not affected by the mixing ratio of TBC. However, future studies need to consider the errors caused by the instability of the measurement surface during condensation and the state of the measurement surface after hardening.

  • This paper is to present the strength estimation of the cement mortar incorporating 20% of fly ash by equivalent age method. ASTM C 1074 was applied to achieve apparent activation energy($E_a$). Cement mortar was cured at the temperature of $5^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$ respectively to measure the setting time and compressive strength at designed age. According to test results, it is found that an increase in curing temperature resulted in an acceleration of setting time. $E_a$ was achieved to 34.75 KJ/mol. It was also found that by estimating strength development with Plowman and Gompertz model, good agreement between calculated value and measured one was achieved.
