  • The prediction model is proposed to estimate the variation of compressive strength of fly ash concrete with aging. After analyzing the experimental result with the model, the regression results are presented according to fly ash replacement content and water-cement ratio. Based on the regression results, the influence of fly ash replacement content and water-cement ratio on apparent activation energy was investigated. According to the analysis, the model provides a good estimate of compressive strength development of fly ash concrete with aging. As the fly ash replacement content increases, the limiting relative compressive strength and initial apparent activation energy become greater. The concrete with water-cement ratio smaller than 0.40 shows that the limiting relative compressive strength and apparent activation energy are nearly constant according to water-cement ratio. But, the concrete with water-cement ratio greater than 0.40 has the increasing limiting relative compressive strength and apparent activation energy with increasing water-cement ratio.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a strength control model for application of variety internal condition at construction field. The results of this study were shown as follows ; 1) According to results of compressive strength of concrete by using equivalent age, new curve is applicable of construction field because there is similar relation with logistic curve. 2) It is shown that the construction period is shorten by reduction of the formwork removal time, because a predicted compressive strength of using the new curve is high than proposed compressive strength of standard.

  • Engineered cementitious composites with calcined clay limestone cement (LC3-ECC) as a kind of green, low-carbon and high toughness concrete, has recently received significant investigation. However, the complicated relationship between potential influential factors and LC3-ECC compressive strength makes the prediction of LC3-ECC compressive strength difficult. Regarding this, the machine learning-based prediction models for the compressive strength of LC3-ECC concrete is firstly proposed and developed. Models combine three novel meta-heuristic algorithms (golden jackal optimization algorithm, butterfly optimization algorithm and whale optimization algorithm) with support vector regression (SVR) to improve the accuracy of prediction. A new dataset about LC3-ECC compressive strength was integrated based on 156 data from previous studies and used to develop the SVR-based models. Thirteen potential factors affecting the compressive strength of LC3-ECC were comprehensively considered in the model. The results show all hybrid SVR prediction models can reach the Coefficient of determination (R2) above 0.95 for the testing set and 0.97 for the training set. Radar and Taylor plots also show better overall prediction performance of the hybrid SVR models than several traditional machine learning techniques, which confirms the superiority of the three proposed methods. The successful development of this predictive model can provide scientific guidance for LC3-ECC materials and further apply to such low-carbon, sustainable cement-based materials.

  • The major object of this study is to investigate experimentally the experimental equation by the non-destructive testing methods of ultrasonic pulse velocity, rebound number, combined method of ultrasonic pulse velocity and rebound number, maturity which are applicable to the evaluation of compressive strength of concrete at early ages. Also test result of mix are statistically analyzed to infer the correlation coefficient between the maturity and the compressive strength of concrete. The results show good application of Logistic curve for estimating strength development under various curing temperature. The relation between ultrasonic pulse velocity, rebound number, combined method of ultrasonic pulse velocity and rebound number and compressive strength of concrete have low correlation coefficient, but maturity method show good correlation coefficient.

  • Recently, we are facing with the trend of demanding high durability concrete for creek structures. When creek structures are deteriorated, it is very difficult to repair them. The objective of this paper is to develop a mixing model for high durability creek concrete having 300kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ compressive strength. According to the result of durability experiment, high durability concrete for creek structures has high resistance of air permeability, absorption, chloride diffusion, and chemical attack.

  • Maturity models involving curing temperature and curing ages have been widely used to predict concrete strength, which can accurately estimate concrete strength. However, they may not consider physical quantities such as the characteristics of hydrates and the capillary porosity of microstructures associated with strength development. In order to find out the effects of both factors on a strength increment, the hydration model and the estimation method of the amount of capillary porosity were established, and the compressive strength test of concrete nth various water/cement ratios was carried out considering two test parameters, curing temperature and curing age. In this study, by analyzing the experimental results, a strength estimation model for early-age concrete that can consider the microstructural characteristics such as hydrates and capillary porosity was proposed. Measured compressive strengths were compared with estimated strengths and good agreements were obtained. Consequently, the proposed strength model can estimate compressive strength of concrete with curing age and curing temperature within an acceptable error.

  • This paper develops an artificial neural network (ANN) model for uniformly loaded restrained reinforced concrete (RC) slabs incorporating membrane action. The development of membrane action in RC slabs restrained against lateral displacements at the edges in buildings and bridge structures significantly increases their load carrying capacity. The benefits of compressive membrane action are usually not taken into account in currently available design methods based on yield-line theory. By extending the existing knowledge of compressive membrane action, it is possible to design slabs in building and bridge decks economically with less than normal reinforcement. The processes involved in the development of ANN model such as the creation of a database of test results from previous research studies, the selection of architecture of the network from extensive trial and error procedure, and the training and performance validation of the model are presented. The ANN model was found to predict accurately the ultimate strength of fully restrained RC slabs. The model also was able to incorporate strength enhancement of RC slabs due to membrane action as confirmed from a comparative study of experimental and yield line-based predictions. Practical applications of the developed ANN model in the design process of RC slabs are also highlighted.

  • Time dependent model for prediction of compressive strength development of concrete cured by microwave heating form was presented in this study. The presented model is similar to the equation which is given in ACI 209R-92 but the constants which is dependent on cement type and curing method in the presented model are modified by the regression analysis of the experimental data. Laboratory scale concrete specimens were cast and cured by the microwave heating form and drilled cores extracted from the specimens were fractured in compression. The measured core strengths are converted to standard core and in-situ strengths. These in-situ strengths are used for the regression.

  • The aim of this study is to compare the development of compressive strength of high-Flowing concrete with maturity and to investigate the applicability of strength prediction models of concrete. An experiment was attempted on the high-flowing concrete mixes using Ordinary portland cement, High belite cement, Blast furance slage cement and replaced Fly-ash of 30% by weight of Ordinary portland cement, the water-binder ratios of mixes being 0.35 and the curing temperatures being 30, 20, 10, 5$^{\circ}C$. Test results of mixes are statistically analyzed to infer the correlation coefficient between the maturity and the compressive strength of high-flowing concrete.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the strength development of fly ash concrete using the strength development estimation for the ready mixed concrete for construction of nuclear reactors. The findings are as follows. First, the higher the curing temperature becomes, the shorter the setting time becomes. In addition, the compressive strength also increased as the curing temperature gets higher. The apparent activation energy derived from ASTM C 1074 showed 34.75 KJ/mol. The results of concrete strength estimation confirmed that Gompertz model formula has good accuracy.
