강/복합재 이중구조 실린더 설계를 위한 유한요소 해석 (Finite Element Analysis for the Design of Fiber Reinforced Metal Cylinder)

  • 본 연구에서는 특수강과 복합재료를 사용한 이중구조 실린더의 설계를 위한 해석에 대해서 기술하였다. 특수강과 복합재의 이중구조는 제품의 특성에 적합한 물성을 유지하면서도 무게를 절감해 줄 수 있으며, 이로 인해 고탄성 저중량을 필요로 하는 각종 지상무기 산업분야와 항공분야, 스포츠 관련 분야 등에 점차 확대 적용되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 하나의 설계에 복합재의 적층각, 종류 등을 바꾸어 가며 이중구조의 설계에 가장 적합한 복합재 적용 방법을 찾기 위해 해석을 실시하였다. 또한 해석의 결과 값들의 비교를 통해 본 연구 설계목표에 가장 알맞은 복합재 적용 방법을 제시하였다.

복합재 원통구조물의 열-점탄성적 잔류음력 및 열좌굴 해석 (Analysis of Thermo-Viscoelastic Residual Stresses and Thermal Buckling of Composite Cylinders)

  • One of the most significant problems in the processing of composite materials is residual stresses. The residual stresses may be high enough to cause cracking in the matrix even before external loads are applied and can degrade the integrity of composite structures. In this study, thermo-viscoelastic residual stresses occurred in the polymeric composite cylinder are investigated. This type of structure is used for the launch vehicle fuselage. The time and degree of cure dependent thermo-viscoelastic constitutive equations are developed and coupled with a thermo-chemical process model. These equations are solved with the finite element method to predict the residual stresses in the composite structures during cure. A launch vehicle experiences high thermal loads during flight and re-entry due to aerodynamic heating or propulsion heat, and the thermal loads may cause thermal buckling on the structure. In this study the thermal buckling analysis of composite cylinders are performed. Two boundary conditions such as all clamped and all simply supported are used for the analysis. The effects of laminates stacking sequences, shapes and residual stresses on the critical buckling temperatures of composite cylinders are investigated. The thermal buckling analysis is performed using ABAQUS.

복합재/AISI4340 이중구조 후육실린더의 구조적 거동 및 최적화 (Behavior and Optimization of Cylinder Applied by Composite Tape Wrapping Method)

  • 높은 내압을 받는 장축후육실린더의 성능향상을 위해 최근 그 길이가 길어짐에 따라 무게 또한 무시할 수 없는 변수로 떠오르게 되었다. 따라서 본 논문은 이러한 현상에 대처하기위한 대안으로 장축후육실린더의 무게를 줄이고 대신 복합재 테이프를 감아 무게감소와 더불어 벤딩 (bending)현상을 줄이기 위한 목적으로 복합재가 AISI4340 후육실린더에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 우선 크기가 감소된 AISI4340 후육실린더에 높은 내압을 받는 압력용기 등에 주로 사용되는 자긴가공(autofrettage) 공법을 모사한 후 T300/S208, IM7/PETI5, IM7/8552 테이프를 적용하여 각각의 복합재가 AISI4340 후육실린더에 감을 때 발생되는 응력분포를 살펴봄으로써 탄성계수 및 적층각에 따른 영향을 고찰하였다. 또한 복합재IAISI4340 이중구조 후육실린더의 적층각 도출을 위한 다양한 적층각 조합용 통해 적층각 도출을 위한 전초를 마련하였다. 본 논문을 위한 해석에는 MSC.Nastran/Patran v.2005가 사용되었다.

  • The postbuckling behavior and progressive damage of composite laminated cylindrical shell under uniform external pressure were investigated by nonlinear finite element method programming. For the finite element analysis, nine-node 3-D degenerated elements were utilized, and arc-length method including line search was adopted for the iteration and load-increment along postbuckling equilibrium path. As results. buckling load, postbucking behavior, and progressive failure f3r various composite laminated cylindrical shells were discussed.

필라멘트 와인딩 공정에 의한 천연가스 차량용 복합재료 압력용기 (Composite Pressure Vessel for Natural Gas Vehicle by Filament Winding)

  • HDPE (high density polyethlyne) 라이너와 금속 boss를 가진 복합재료 압력용기가 필라멘트 와인딩 공정에 의해 개발되었다. 이 용기의 끝 부위는 dome-shape 부위 그리고 용기의 중앙부는 cylinder-shape로 형성되었다. 용기를 구성하는 재료인 HDPE, 수지 그리고 강화섬유와 같은 용기재료에 대해 환경실험이 1년 이상 실행되었다 Boss 설계는 FEM 해석으로 가스 누출을 최대한 방지해 주는 것으로 확인되었다. 실험적인 방법에 의해 가장 이상적인 fiber tension이 얻어졌고, image analyzer에 의해 측정된 섬유의 체적율, $\textrm{V}_{f}$,는 실린더에서 55.4 %, dome part에서 55.6 % 이었다. Winding pattern은 용기의 파괴가 실린더 부위에서 일어나도록 dome 부위의 복합재료 두께조절을 하도록 프로그램 되었다 경화 중 용기는 돌려졌었고 고정 내부압력 0.62 bar를 가함으로서 최종용기의 파괴압력이 28 % 향상되었다. Under-wound, fully wound된 용기의 파괴 및 피로시험결과를 충족하였다.

  • An active control of the vibration transmitted by longitudinal load in flight control system is investigated numerically. The flight control system is modeled as a finite, thin shell cylinder with constant thickness. A vibration source is generated by exterior monopole source. Distributed piezoelectric actuator is used to control of the vibration. Thin shell theory is used to formulate the numerical models. The amplitude of vibration at discrete location and power transmission are minimized by analytical optimization method. Genetic algorithm is used as numerical optimization method to search optimal actuator position and size which amplitude of vibration is minimized.

  • Methods for restoring the posterior portion of the maxilla with delayed and simultaneous sinus lift, composite graft and placement of TPS cylinder and screw type implants are presented. Sinus grafting is needed because of minimal remaining alveolar bone and supporting posterior maxillary portion, The composite graft material uses a combination of autogeneous bone from tuberosity, dimeneralized freeze dried allogenic bone and hydroxylapatite with saline. Since 1991, feb, 1 sinus graft with delayed implantation of 3 cylinder implants and 5 sinus grafts with simultaneous placement of 4HA coated screw typed, 8 TPS cylinder typed implants have been performed for 6 patients. None of the 15 restored implants have been lost, Temporization of prosthesis was done about 2-5 months before final prosthetic work, None of them shows any severe complication.

Nonlinear static analysis of composite cylinders with metamaterial core layer, adjustable Poisson's ratio, and non-uniform thickness

  • In this article, an analytical procedure is presented for static analysis of composite cylinders with the geometrically nonlinear behavior, and non-uniform thickness profiles under different loading conditions by considering moderately large deformation. The composite cylinder includes two inner and outer isotropic layers and one honeycomb core layer with adjustable Poisson's ratio. The Mirsky-Herman theory in conjunction with the von-Karman nonlinear theory is employed to extract the governing equations which are a system of nonlinear differential equations with variable coefficients. The governing equations are solved analytically using the matched asymptotic expansion (MAE) method of the perturbation technique and the effects of moderately large deformations are studied. The presented method obtains the results with fast convergence and high accuracy even in the regions near the boundaries. Highlights: • An analytical procedure based on the matched asymptotic expansion method is proposed for the static nonlinear analysis of composite cylindrical shells with a honeycomb core layer and non-uniform thickness. • The effect of moderately large deformation has been considered in the kinematic relations by assuming the nonlinear von Karman theory. • By conducting a parametric study, the effect of the honeycomb structure on the results is studied. • By adjusting the Poisson ratio, the effect of auxetic behavior on the nonlinear results is investigated.

다층 예비성형체에 대한 삼차원 충진해석 (Three-Dimensional Mold Filling Simulation for Multi-layered Preform in Resin Transfer Molding)

  • Resin transfer molding (RTM) is one of the most popular processes for producing fiber reinforced polymer composites. In the manufacture of complex thick composite structures, analysis on flow front advancement on the resin impregnating the multi-layered fiber preform is helpful for the optimization of the process. In this study, three-dimensional mold filling simulation of RTM is carried out by using CVFEM (Control Volume Finite Element Method). On the assumption of isothermal flow of Newtonian fluid, Darcy’s law and continuity equation are used as governing equations. Different permeability tensors employed in each layer are obtained by experiments. Numerically predicted flow front is compared with experimental one in order to validate the numerical results. Flow simulations are conducted in the two mold geometries, rectangular plate and hollow cylinder. Permeability tensor of each layer preform in Cartesian coordinate system is transformed to cylinder coordinates system so that the flow within the multi-layered preforms of the hollow cylinder can be calculated exactly. Our emphasis is on the three dimensional flow analysis for circular three-dimensional braided preform, which shows outstanding mechanical properties such as high impact strength and toughness compared with other conventional two-dimensional laminar-structured preforms.

  • In the manufacturing process of metal matrix composites parts, thixoforging is one of the most effective forming processes. The major purpose of the current study is to provide the proper conditions such as the die shape, the forging velocity, the forging time, the forging pressure and reinforcement injection velocity and pressure on various defects in thixoforged cylinder liner, filling tests were performed by MAGMA S/W. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the calculated conditions which is given by computer aided engineering, A357, A380 and SiC$_{p}$/A380 cylind~5$mu extrm{m}$r liner were fabricated under the calculated conditions. SiC$_{p}$/A380 composite billets were fabricated by both the mechanical stirring and electrical magnetic stirring process. Incase fo SiC$_{p}$/A380 composite cylinder liner, reinforcement distribution and effect of reinforcement(SiC$_{p}$) content(10~20 vol. %)and size(5.5~14${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) on the mechanical properties were investigatedstigated.
