Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify nursing students' knowledge, self-confidence in compliance, and compliance with standard precautions, and to identify predicting factors of compliance with standard precautions. Method: From May 18 to June 15, 2012, data were collected via questionnaire surveys from 222 nursing students of 2 colleges in G-province. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analyses were used with SPSS 22.0 to analyze the data. Results: The average knowledge score was $0.89{\pm}0.08/1.0$, $3.59{\pm}0.57/4.0$ for self-confidence in compliance, and $0.91{\pm}0.11/1.0$ for compliance. Significant positive correlations were observed between knowledge and self-confidence in compliance(r=.14, p=.040), and between self-confidence in compliance and compliance(r=.25, p=.008). Self-confidence in compliance and blood and body fluid exposure were significant factors of compliance(F=5.46, p<.001). Conclusion: To increase nursing students' compliance with standard precautions, continuous efforts must be made to enhance self-confidence in compliance and decrease blood and body fluid exposure.
Purpose: This study was to identify the influencing factors of the compliance level to a therapeutic regimen after a bone mineral densitometry test. Method: The sample for the study was 95 people who took the bone mineral densitometry test from March, 2002 to July, 2002. Data was collected by mail using aself reporting questionnaire on the selected variables such as the compliance level, self efficacy, health locus of control, susceptibility, severity, usefulness, barrier, and self esteem. Results: The average compliance level was 63.93. Through multiple regression, three independent variables including chance health locus of control on personality, the result of bone mineral density and self-efficacy were entered in the model as the significant determinants of the compliance level after a bone mineral densitometry test. The coefficients of determination of each variable were 10.9%, 8.3% and 8.1% respectively. Conclusion: The identification of the determinants of the compliance level to the therapeutic regimen after bone mineral densitometry is expected to contribute to the development of an intervention program to improve the compliance level to the therapeutic regimen in osteoporosis patients.
This paper presents the influence coefficient method to predict the deflection of bump foil precisely in the sub-structure of AFB(air foil bearing). Heshmat has introduced the simple compliance model to calculate the deflection of bump foil. But this approach can not consider the deflection of bump foil at the edge of AFB, so elasto-hydrodynamic model is insufficient to analyze in case that the eccentricity ratio is greater than 1. Peng has used the average pressure and film thickness, but this approach is not also a realistic model. Influence coefficients of a bump is calculated by finite element method, and introduced in bump deflection equations of the performance analysis of air foil bearing. The effects of the influence coefficient on the bearing performance is discussed in detail for appropriate foil design.
In this study, to analyse the dynamic characteristics of a machine-tool spindle system, the spindle is mathematically represented by a Timoshenko beam including the internal damping of beam material, and each bearing by four bearing coefficients; stiffness and damping coefficients in moment and radial directions. And the dynamic compliance of the system is calculated by introducing the transfer matrix method, and the complex modal analysis method has been applied for the modal parameter identification. The influence of the bearing coefficients, material damping factor and bearing span on the dynamic characteristics of the system is parametrically examined.
Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the relationship among knowledge, self-efficacy and compliance behavior on breast self examination(BSE) of female college students'. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with a convenient sample of 499 female college student. Surveyed data collected from May to August 2008 were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean score of knowledge and self-efficacy concerning BSE was low, and compliance was high. The levels of knowledge, self-efficacy and compliance were differed significantly by experience of thinking about breast cancer, perceived susceptibility of breast cancer, experience of meeting with breast cancer patient, and educational experience of BSE. Significant correlations were found between knowledge and compliance, knowledge and compliance, knowledge and self-efficacy. Knowledge and self-efficacy were a powerful predictor of compliance. Conclusion: Focus on perceived knowledge, self-efficacy about breast self examination(BSE) of female college students may be beneficial to improve compliance, and should be reflected in the development of effective BSE education program.
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to examine self-efficacy, severity, social support, and self-care compliance of patients with liver cirrhosis and to identify the factors that affect their self-care compliance. Methods: A total of 160 outpatients with liver cirrhosis visiting the gastroenterology clinic at an university hospital located in Busan were enrolled in this study. Data were collected via self-report questionnaires including self-efficacy, severity of disease, social support, and self-care compliance measures. The collected data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff\acute{e}-test$, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The factors affecting self-care compliance were self-efficacy, severity of disease, age, and sex. These factors explained 28.4% of the variance in self-care compliance of patients with liver cirrhosis. Conclusion: Therefore, nursing interventions that enhance patients' self-efficacy are needed to promote self-care compliance in patients with liver cirrhosis. In addition, patients must be taught of the importance of self-care compliance so that even young patients and those with relatively mild disease. That would also be motivated to comply with self-care instructions.
The model of Poisson's ratio of the fruits was developed on the basis that the cylindrical fruits specimen became the barrel shape when it was being compressed. The model of the corrected creep compliance of the fruits was developed under considering the developed model of Poisson's ratio. Both of the Poisson's ratio and the corrected creep compliance of the samples showed the nonlinear viscoelastic behavior. Those models were a similar form, but their coefficients of the model were different, and these behaviors of the samples were well described by the nonlinear model as a function of the initial stress and time. Effects of storage condition and period on the Poisson's ratio of the samples were investigated, and comparisons between the corrected and the uncorrected creep compliance of the samples were made.
Purpose: This study sought to identify the relationship between knowledge and compliance with cough etiquette among elders in the community. Methods: Participants were 186 olders. Data were collected December 2016 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Mean scores for knowledge and compliance relating to cough etiquette were above average. Several factors were related to significant differences in level of knowledge: education level, use of items to cover a cough, Carrying a handkerchief or tissue, daily frequency of hand washing, awareness of cough etiquette, and prior education on cough etiquette. Compliance differed according to use of items to cover a cough, awareness of cough etiquette, and prior education on cough etiquette. Significant correlations were found between knowledge and compliance with cough etiquette. Awareness of cough etiquette and knowledge of cough etiquette were predictors of cough etiquette compliance. Conclusion: These findings indicate that publicity and education taking into account the characteristics of the elderly are required to improve compliance with cough etiquette among olders. The results of the study can be utilized in health promotional programs for this population.
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to examine symptom experiences, perceived health status, disease status, and self-care compliance of patients with liver cirrhosis and to identify the factors that affect their self-care compliance. Methods: The study design was a cross-sectional design and 148 patients who were being treated at D-university hospital in Busan participated in the survey. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Bonferroni test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The factors affecting self-care compliance were symptom experiences, disease status, age, and gender. These factors explained 21.6% of the variance in self-care compliance of patients with liver cirrhosis. Conclusion: The findings indicate that nursing interventions that prevent patients' symptoms are needed to promote self-care compliance in patients with liver cirrhosis. The patient should also be helped to recognize the need for self-care compliance from an early stage.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of dietary compliance, nutritional status, and stages of disease in patients with liver cirrhosis and to identify the relationships among those variables. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design and conducted a survey of 100 patients who were treated at D-university hospital in Busan. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation coefficients were performed using SPSS/WINdow 20.0 program. Results: The mean score of dietary compliance was 3.50 in the a 5-point scale. Stage of disease was significantly correlated with dietary compliance (r=.20, p=.048), and protein as one of nutritional status (r=-.44, p<.001). Conclusion: These findings suggest that dietary compliance of patients with liver cirrhosis can have an influence on prognosis of disease. Therefore, patients should be encouraged to improve dietary compliance from the early stage of liver cirrhosis.
