  • This study investigates the effects of changes in price, total consumption expenditures and economic sitations on Korean household demands for clothing and footwear using time-series data. The clothing and footwear category was reclassified as clothing, footwear and clothing services items for the demand analysis. This study utilized the Linearized Almost Ideal Demand System (LAIDS) model to analyze household demand. The results indicate that price and total consumption expenditures are significantly related to Korean household consumption expenditure allocations for clothing and footwear items. The effects of the IMF bailout crisis in 1997 and the global financial crisis in 2008 on household expenditure shares for clothing and footwear items were very weak and statistically insignificant. All the demand elasticities were estimated with respect to total consumption expenditures and prices. Clothing was expenditure elastic (greater than one) and other items were classified as inelastic. All the own price elasticities of demands were negative (other than clothing). Through the estimations of cross price elasticity the relationships between the demands for items and other item prices were evaluated (i.e., substitutes and complements).

  • This paper, introduces a Stochastic Project Scheduling Simulation system (SPSS III) developed by the author to predict a project completion probability in a certain time. The system integrates deterministic CPM, probabilistic PERT, and stochastic Discrete Event Simulation (DES) scheduling methods into one system. It implements automated statistical analysis methods for computing the minimum number of simulation runs, the significance of the difference between independent simulations, and the confidence interval for the mean project duration as well as sensitivity analysis method in What-if analyzer component. The SPSS 111 gives the several benefits to researchers in that it (1) complements PERT and Monte Carlo simulation by using stochastic activity durations via a web based JAVA simulation over the Internet, (2) provides a way to model a project network having different probability distribution functions, (3) implements statistical analyses method which enable to produce a reliable prediction of the probability of completing a project in a specified time, and (4) allows researchers to compare the outcome of CPM, PERT and DES under different variability or skewness in the activity duration data.

  • In this paper, we design a GA-fuzzy precompensator for enhancement of power system stability. Here, a fuzzy prerompensator is designed as a fuzzy logic-based precompensation approach for Power System Stabilizer(PSS). This scheme is easily implemented simply by adding a fuzzy precompensator to an existing PSS. And we optimize the fuzzy precompensator with a genetic algorithm for complements the demerit such as the difficulty of the component selection of fuzzy controller, namely, scaling factor, membership function and control rules. Simulation results show that the proposed control technique is superior to a conventional PSS in dynamic responses over the wide range of operating conditions and is convinced robustness and reliableness in view of structure.

  • In this paper, we propose a series active power filter control method to compensate current harmonics and unbalanced source voltage. The system is composed of series active power filter and shunt passive filer that are tuned 5th and 7th harmonics. In this conventional system, series active power filter complements drawbacks of the shunt passive filter, namely improves harmonic compensation characteristics, and compensates unbalanced source voltage. In the proposed algorithm, compensation voltage for harmonic reduction is calculated by performance function, and compensation voltage for unbalanced source voltage is calculated in based on a synchronous reference frame. So, ultimate compensation voltage is sum of those two compensation voltages. By computer simulation, we verify the excellency of proposed method.

  • In this paper, we present an color quantization method by complementing the disadvantage of K-means color quantization that is one of the well-known color quantization. We named the proposed method "octree-means" color quantization. K-means color quantization does not use all of the clusters because it initializes the centroid of clusters with random value. The proposed method complements this disadvantage by using the octree color quantization which is fast and uses the distribution of colors in image. We compare the proposed method to six well-known color quantization methods on ten test images to evaluate the performance. The experimental results show 68.29 percent of mean square error(MSE) and processing time increased by 14.34 percent compared with K-means color quantization. Therefore, the proposed method improved the K-means color quantization and perform an effective color quantization.

  • This article presents an original work on kinetically studying the selective adsorption and recognition by molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP). With S-naproxen as template, the imprinted polymer was prepared. The result indicates that the prepared polymer shows a more complicated sorption toward S-naproxen than toward its enantiomer R-naproxen. The rate constant in the case of template appears to be a variable. There are also significant deviations from the idealized Langmuir model. Related information indicates that these, in logic, can be a result of biomimic structural and functional complements between imprint and the template, which makes the polymer capable of selectively recognizing the imprint species.

  • A karyotype of cytotype BB plant in Scilla scilloides Complex was established and the frequency of B-chromosomes were investigated. Chromosome complements of BB genome were composed of five pairs of subtelocentric and four pairs of metacentric chromosomes. Chromosome 1 has satellite with nucleolar organizer. Polymorphism was found in chromosome 2. The karyotype of cytotype BB will be available for analysis of genome composition in various cytotypes of S. scilloides Complex. The frequency of B-chromosome was 78.6%. Numbers of B-chromosome ranged from 1 to 4 and plants with 2B-chromosomes were predominant (57.2%). Two type of B-chromosomes, F and F', were found; F is a large iso-chromosome and F' a small one.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of designing H$\infty$ state feedback controller for the generalized time systems with delayed states and control inputs in continuous and discrete time cases, respectively. The generalized time delay system problems are solved on the basis of LMI(linear matrix inequality) technique considering time delays. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and H$\infty$ state feedback controller design methods are presented. Also, using some changes of variables and Schur complements, the obtained sufficient condition can be rewritten as a LMI form in terms of transformed variables. The propose controller design method can be extended into the problem of robust H$\infty$ state feedback controller design method easily.
