This paper is concerned with the problem of designing a guaranteed cost state feedback controller for singular systems with time-varying delays. The sufficient condition for the existence of a guaranteed cost controller, the controller design method, and the optimization problem to get the upper bound of guaranteed cost function are proposed by LMI(linear matrix inequality), singular value decomposition, Schur complements, and change of variables. Since the obtained sufficient conditions can be changed to LMI form, all solutions including controller gain and upper bound of guaranteed cost function can be obtained simultaneously.

To extend the well-known extremal characterization of the geometric mean of two n × n positive definite matrices A and B, we solve the following problem: $${\max}\{X:X=X^*,\;\(\array{A&V&X\\V&B&W\\X&W&C}\){\geq}0\}$$. We find an explicit expression of the maximum value with respect to the matrix geometric mean of Schur complements.

The number of safety accidents of the construction industry is higher than other industries. To prevent the accidents from hazard factor, the employees are variously trained in avoiding an accident. Also many studies have been conducted to reduced the safety accident. But most of these studies are limited to institutional complements. This study proposes safety management improvement plan of safety management through case studies.

Neuromuscular ultrasonography has emerged over the last decade as a useful tool for diagnosing peripheral nerve disorders. It has been studied extensively with a particular focus on the assessment of compression neuropathies. Neuromuscular ultrasonography complements electrodiagnostic studies well by visualizing both the nerve anatomy and surrounding structures, providing useful data that cannot be obtained using the latter methodology only. This review article summarizes and synthesizes the literature focusing on the diagnostic role of neuromuscular ultrasonography in common compression neuropathies of the upper limb.

Traditional pharmacological theory was not built in a day. It had been changing in the past, still changing in the present day and will be changing in the future. The transition was made by criticism, modification and complements through countless debates. Therefore, we can learn the systematic stream of traditional pharmacology and logical construction and make an estimate of the changes in the future, by looking at the debates and the transition of pharmacological theory.

In this paper, we represent the Piagetian reversible thinking by using the concept of fuzzy complements. In this case the turning point to the reversible thinking can be corre-sponded to the equilibrium points of a fuzzy set, which are shown through some examples. On the other hand, Piaget considered disequilibrium in the theory of equi-libration as a stimulus for students' cognitive structure, furthermore as the driving forces behind intellectual growth. But we suggest a di erent application o Piagetian equi-librium in another point of view as a tool understanding students' psychological stability in problem solving activity.

A theory in which the Enskog hard sphere collisional dynamics complements the hydrodynamic theory is applied to the fast modulation dephasing dynamics in liquids which leads to homogeneous line broadening in the isotropic Raman spectra. The dephasing times of several molecules in pure liquids and in trace solutions in the solvent $CCl_4$ are calculated and these are compared with experimental values. The temperature dependence of the dephasing time of liquid acetonitrile and the isothermal density dependence of the dephasing time of liquid methyl iodide are also investigated.

In the present work, we investigate a viscoelastic equation involving a logarithmic nonlinear source term. After proving the existence of solutions, we establish a general decay estimate of the solution using energy estimates and theory of convex functions. This result extends and complements some previous results of [9, 21].
