As known by other name(natural immunity), the innate immune system comprises all those mechanisms for dealing with infection that are constitutive or built in, changing little with age or with experience of infection. Though in some ways less sophisticated than adaptive immunity, innate immunity should not belittled, since it has evidently protected thousands of species of invertebrates sufficiently to survive for up to 2 billion years. In the innate immune system, molecules of both cellular and humoral types are involved, corresponding to the need to recognize and dispose of different types of pathogen, to promote inflammatory responses and to interact to the adaptive immune system. A major features of innate immunity are the presence of the normal gut flora, complements, macrophages, dendritic cells, natural killer cells and many cytokines that can block the establishment of infection. Both phagocytic cells and complement system have tremendous potential for damaging host cells, but fortunately they are normally only triggered by foreign materials, and usually most of their destructive effects are focussed on the surface of these or in the safe environment of the phagolysosome. This article addreses the comprehensive mechanisms of the major components of the innate immune system to prevent the infection.

본 논문에서는 논리합성을 위한 공통식 추출 방법을 새롭게 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 주어진 각 논리식들에서 2개의 큐브만으로 구성된 2-큐브 논리식 쌍을 추출한다. 2개의 큐브로 구성된 논리식 쌍들로부터 2-큐브 행렬을 만들고, 여기에 2-큐브 논리식의 보수를 추가하여 확장된 2-큐브 행렬과 압축 2-큐브 행렬을 만든다. 다음, 공통식 추출을 위해 압축 2-큐브 행렬을 분석한다. 그리디 방법(greedy method)에 의해 가장 많은 리터럴 개수를 줄일 수 있는 공통식을 선택한다. 실험결과 여러 벤치마크 회로에 대하여 제안한 방법을 논리회로 합성도구에 활용할 경우 기존 합성도구보다 리터럴 개수를 줄일 수 있음을 보였다.

The quality of an intravenous immunoglobulin preparation (IVIG) is reflected by the degree of nonspecific activation of complements, the so-called anticomplementary activity (ACA). ACA of aggregates in IVIG was investigated using method by the European Pharmacopoeia and Clq-coated microtiter enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Both the EP method and the ELISA method showed a dose response curve with the amount of complements bound increasing with the percentage content of aggregates in immunoglobulin standard. The correlation between the two tests was good (r=0.96, r=0.99). However, the correlation was not found when the ACA (EP method) of IVIG product was compared with its aggregate percentage. These results emphasize that the method of aggregate formation affects ACA and that estimation of the percentage distribution of aggregates by HPLC may not reflect ACA. In analysing WIG product for Clq binding activity test with the ELISA, the result by using Protein A-HRP correlated with aggregate percentage (r=0.84). But the correlation decreased (r=0.48) when the result used Protein A-AP(having poorer sensitivity than HRP) was compared with aggregate percentage. As a result, some variation between the two methods, due to differences in assay principles, is to be expected. However, ELISA technique has the advantage in that it is easier to perform, more precise and less subject to reagent variability, and is the more suitable screening method than HPLC analysis.

Background: With open heart surgery(OHS), it has been recognized that many postoperative complications and postperfusion syndrome are associated with the activations of complements and leulocytes. Recently, some investigators also demonstrated that interlukin-6(IL-6) linked highly with postperfusion syndrome. The puropose of this study was to investigate the sequential changes of the IL-6 and to clarify each IL-6 relationship to the complements(C3, C4) and inflammatory response following cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB). Material and Method: To determine serum levels of IL-6, complements, leukocytes, and biochemistric markers of liver and renal function, blood samples were taken from th radial artery in 30 adult patients undergoing OHS with CPB. Result: Serum IL-6 levels incrased significantly at 10 minutes after CPB-on(CPB-10) in comparison with the control levels and reached the peak at CPB-off(p<0.05). Serum complement levels declined rapidly at CPB-10 and remained at the lower levels during CPB(p<0.01). Sequential changes of IL-6 levels had positive correlations with the changes of total leukocytes and neutrophil fractions(p<0.05), but had negative correlations with lymphocyte fractions(p<0.05). Changes of C3 related postively to monocyte fractions(p<0.05). Postoperative levels of total protein and albumin, decreased significantly in comparison with the control levels(p<0.01), while the postoperative levels of AST(aspartate transaminase) and bilirubin increased (p<0.01). At CPB-off, IL-6 levels had negative correlations with total protein and albumin levels(r=-0.60, -0.47 respectively, p<0.05), whereas C3 levels had positive correlations with albumin levels(r=0.40, p<0.05). IL-6 levels, as well as neutrophil fractions, had positive correlations with aortic clamp time(ACT) and total bypass time(TBT) (IL-6; r=0.82, 0.79 respectively, neutrophil fractions; r=0.50, 0.56 respectively, p<0.05), wheres lymphocyte frations and albumin levels had negative correlations whith ACT and TBT(lymphocyte fractions; r=-0.52, -0.58 respectively, albumin; r=-0.58, -0.55 respectively, p<0.05). Conclusion: These data showed that elevated production of serum IL-6 during CPB may play a pivotal role in systemic inflammatory responses and prologed CPB period may be assosiated with more sever postperfusion syndromes.

We present a relation between the orthogonality of the constrained Legendre polynomials over the triangular domain and the BB ($B{\acute{e}zier}\;-Bernstein$) coefficients of the polynomials using the equivalence of orthogonal complements. Using it we also show that the best constrained degree reduction of polynomials in BB form equals the best approximation of weighted Euclidean norm of coefficients of given polynomial in BB form from the coefficients of polynomials of lower degree in BB form.

In this paper, we present robust reliable $H\infty$ controller design methods of continuous and discrete uncertain time delay systems through LMI(linear matrix inequality) approach, respectively. Also the existence conditions of state feedback control are proposed. Using some changes of varables and Schur complements, the obtained sufficient conditions are transformed into LMI form. We show the validity of the proposed method through numerical examples.

This paper compares secondary predication constructions such as small clause complements, resultatives, and depictives in English and Korean. It argues that these two typologically different languages employ different modes of satisfying the Case Filter with regard to the Case of the subjects of small clauses. More specifically, it is argued that the subject of a small clause in English is Accusative Case-marked by the higher governing verb, while that ul ]Korean is Nominative Case-marked by default.

In this paper, we provide a reliable few controller design method for descriptor systems satisfying asymptotic stability with $H_\infty$ norm bound and all actuator failures occurred within the pre-specified subset. The proper condition for the existence of a reliable $H_\infty$ controller and the controller design method are proposed by linear matrix inequality(LMI), Schur complements, and singular value decomposition. All solutions can be obtained simultaneously because the presented sufficient condition can be expressed as an LMI form.

In this research, we compare and analyze the two initial basis construction procedures: LPAKO’s procedure proposed by Seo et. al. and symbolic crash procedure proposed by Maros et. al.. Based on the analysis, we present a new procedure which complements the previous procedures. The new procedure shows superiority to the previous procedures with respects to the optimality of initial basis. Also, the linear basis Also. the initial basis constructed by the new procedure reduces the number of simplex iterations.

The mitotic and meiotic chromosomes of Succineidae snail one species, Oxyloma hirasei(Pilsbry), were investigated by mians of air-drying mithod. The diploid chromosome numbers were n=18, 2n=36. Chromosome complements of this species consist of seven pairs of metacentrics and 11 pairs of submetacentric chromosomes. Spermatogonial metaphase chromosomes range in length from 4.80${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for the largest pair to 1.44${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for the smallest pair.
