  • The present paper is devoted to self-adjoint cyclically compact operators on Hilbert-Kaplansky module over a ring of bounded measurable functions. The spectral theorem for such a class of operators is given. We use more simple and constructive method, which allowed to apply this result to compact operators relative to von Neumann algebras. Namely, a general form of compact operators relative to a type I von Neumann algebra is given.

  • In this paper we prove that if Toeplitz operators $T^{\alpha}_u$ with symbols in RW satisfy ${\parallel}uk^{\alpha}_z{\parallel}_{s,{\alpha}{\rightarrow}0$ as $z{\rightarrow}{\partial}\mathbb{D}$ then $T^{\alpha}_u$ is compact and also prove that if $T^{\alpha}_u$ is compact then the Berezin transform of $T^{\alpha}_u$ equals to zero on ${\partial}\mathbb{D}$.

  • We give the characterizations of the classes of matrix trans-formations ($m(\phi),{\ell}_p$), ($n(\phi),{\ell}_p$) ([5, Theorem 2]), (${\ell}_p,m(\phi)$) ([5, Theorem 1]) and (${\ell}_p,n(\phi)$) for $1{\leq}p{\leq}{\infty}$, establish estimates for the norms of the bounded linear operators defined by those matrix transformations and characterize the corresponding subclasses of compact matrix operators.

  • We study multiplication operators on the weighted Banach spaces of an infinite tree. We characterize the bounded and the compact operators, as well as determine the operator norm. In addition, we determine the spectrum of the bounded multiplication operators and characterize the isometries. Finally, we study the multiplication operators between the weighted Banach spaces and the Lipschitz space by characterizing the bounded and the compact operators, determining estimates on the operator norm, and showing there are no isometries.

  • Let X be a Banach space and Z a closed subspace of a Banach space Y. Denote by L(X, Y) the space of all bounded linear operators from X to Y and by K(X, Y) its subspace of compact linear operators. Using Hahn-Banach extension operators corresponding to ideal projections, we prove that if either $X^{**}$ or $Y^{*}$ has the Radon-Nikodym property and K(X, Y) is an M-ideal (resp. an HB-subspace) in L(X, Y), then K(X, Z) is also an M-ideal (resp. HB-subspace) in L(X, Z). If L(X, Y) has property SU instead of being an M-ideal in L(X, Y) in the above, then K(X, Z) also has property SU in L(X, Z). If X is a Banach space such that $X^{*}$ has the metric compact approximation property with adjoint operators, then M-ideal (resp. HB-subspace) property of K(X, Y) in L(X, Y) is inherited to K(X, Z) in L(X, Z).

  • Let 𝓗(𝔻) be the space of analytic functions on the unit disc 𝔻. Let 𝜓 = (𝜓j)nj=0 and 𝚽 = (𝚽j)nj=0 be such that 𝜓j, 𝚽j ∈ 𝓗(𝔻). The linear differential operator is defined by T𝜓(f) = ∑nj=0 𝜓jf(j), f ∈ 𝓗(𝔻). We characterize the boundedness and compactness of the difference operator (T𝜓 - T𝚽)(f) = ∑nj=0 (𝜓j - 𝚽j) f(j) between weighted-type spaces of analytic functions. As applications, we obtained boundedness and compactness of the difference of multiplication operators between weighted-type and Bloch-type spaces. Also, we give examples of unbounded (non compact) differential operators such that their difference is bounded (compact).

  • The $L^p-L^q$ mapping properties of convolution operators with measures supported on curves in $\mathbb{R}^3$ have been studied by many authors. Oberlin provided examples of nondegenerate compact space curves whose arclength measures enjoy $L^p$-improving properties. This was later extended by Pan who showed that such properties hold for all nondegenerate compact space curves. In this paper, we will prove that the operator norm of the convolution operator with the arclength measure supported on a nondegenerate compact space curve depends only on certain quantities of the underlying curve.

  • In this work, we characterize some matrix classes concerning the Binomial sequence spaces br,s and br,sp, where 1 ≤ p < ∞. Moreover, by using the notion of Hausdorff measure of noncompactness, we characterize the class of compact matrix operators from br,s0, br,sc and br,s into c0, c and ℓ, respectively.

  • In the paper we introduce averages of each type and use these averages to construct examples of weakly compact operators on the space C ($\Omega$) for which the necessary and sufficient conditions that they be compact, absolutely summing or nuclear are distinct. A great number of concrete examples, in various situations, are given.
