  • This study aims to analyze community support methods and specific attainments of UR rental housing complex S in Japan and examine the present state of community formation.. UR rental housing S is part of the community revitalization support project launched by UR Urban Agency for creating exchanges among residents in the rental housing complex and in this study, the community support project from February to November 2013 was considered. As community revitalization support tasks, five types of events and exchange meetings were held. While the events and exchange meetings continued, even the residents who did not join the residents' association began to make an exchange with each other and their identity as residents enhanced, which means there was a change in the sense of community. Moreover, it is thought that a good solution to maintaining the chance for the events and exchange meetings after the support project is that residents of the younger generation actively cooperate in management as the residents' association members. 5 years after the support project, the present condition of activities of complex residents was examined, but the Residents' Association was disbanded due to the aging of residents, a growth in residents and low participation rates of the younger generation. Besides, there is a complete absence of community activities in the complex now.

  • The community mixed-support facility in Japan is making efforts to try various approaches according to the changes made to allow the privatization of public facilities on the basis of Act on Special Measures for Urban Regeneration since 2004. Due to this change in policy, the community mixed-support facility is now taking further steps in trying to implement variety of approaches in the perspective of urban regeneration and urban maintenance and at the same time the trend of installation of community facility has gone through vivid changes for the last 20 years. The causes of this are from the social demand that claims for of new facilities and the change in the subsidy system in relation to equality in facility installation. Examples of the first cause can be the building of perpetuating educational society, an execution or a movement towards the society of gender equality, a countermovement for an aging society as well as a welfare society, and recently social phenomenon related to consumption is becoming an issue. • The purpose of this study was to investigate service support programs for the work-family balance in the community. Service support programs in the community are at beginning stages of development, because it has taken about 10 years to put a self-governing system into practice in Korea. This study concentrates on service support programs developed by various service organizations in the city and does not include any rural districts. First, the developmental process of the work-family balance model and type of the service support program in the community were studied. Next, the situation of care service support was examined based on written articles. Finally, a few suggestions were made f3r work-family balance in the community. The developmental situation of work-flmily balance in Korea is in a stage which is shifting from the company-leading model to a family-company-community model. The most common type of service support program offered in the community until now has been the informal sector through relatives, neighbors or friends. However, service support programs, in the public sector by the government and in the voluntary sector by nonprofit organizations and corporations, has rapidly been growing and the number of services from each sector has also increased. Profit organizations in the private sector, such as medical and care service centers, are also now rapidly increasing. It appears that service support programs contributing to the work-family balance in the community come from a number of sectors, including public, voluntary, private and informal sectors, to suit consumer needs.

  • Korean sixth industrialization policy is similar to that of Japanese such as goal of policy, setup and promotion method of specific policy projects as it benchmarked a Japanese case. First of all, the certification systems of both countries, the most representative policy, are very alike that the governments officially certificate management bodies, prepare the ground for continuous sixth industrialization, devide intermediate support organization into the central unit and regional unit, and have the function of support and control of sixth industrialization management bodies. Furthermore, both countries create fund for sixth industrialization as an investment support policy, and push forward with the phased support policy businesses such as individual support and connected support for management bodies. However, there are some differences between certification systems of both countries such as process-oriented or result-oriented for certification, subtle differences of the role in support organization, and the range and rate of support.

  • This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the foodservice management support program focusing on menu management in community child centers. The support program provided reference menus, staff training, and field consulting to 10 community child centers in the Jeollanam-do province for one month, August in 2010. One month menus were developed, based on children's preference for menu items, foodservice personnel's preference for food materials, and availability of local specialty foods, and offered as reference menus. In addition, staff training and field consulting focusing on menu management were conducted before and during the pilot period, respectively. To evaluate the support program, menus, foodservice personnel's knowledge level and perceived performance in foodservice management, and children's level of satisfaction for foodservice were analyzed before and after the support program. As a result of analysis of 222 and 210 menus of before and after the support program, respectively, the number of dishes per meal increased from five to six on average, and the proportion of meals including five food groups, which were grain, meat, vegetable, fruit, and milk and dairy product, rose from 2% to 24%. Foodservice personnel's knowledge level regarding foodservice management increased significantly (p = 0.007), however, their perceived performance in foodservice management did not show any significant changes. Children were more satisfied with 'food' (p = 0.001), 'sanitation' (p = 0.001), and 'environment' (p < 0.008) of foodservice in community child centers after the support program.
