HW/SW Co-Design of an Adaptive Frequency Decision in the Bluetooth Wireless Network

  • In IEEE 802.15.1 (Bluetooth) Ad-hoc networks, the frequency is resolved by the specific part of the digits of the Device clock and the Bluetooth address of the Master device in a given piconet. The piconet performs a fast frequency hopping scheme over 79 carriers of 1-MHz bandwidth. Since there is no coordination between different piconets, packet collisions may occur if two piconets are located near one another. In this paper, we proposed a software/hardware co-design of an adaptive frequency decision mechanism so that more than two different kinds of wireless devices can stay connected without frequency collision. Suggested method was implemented with C program and HDL (Hardware Description Language) and automatically synthesized and laid out. The adaptive frequency hopping circuit was implemented in a prototype and showed its operation at 24MHz correctly.

End-to-End Performance of VoIP based on Mobility Pattern over MANETs

  • In this paper, end-to-end VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) performance is evaluated by simulation with NS-2 simulation tool. There are many results studied and published for VoIP performance over TCP/IP networks. But, almost all of them were focused on wired or wireless Internet environments. About MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network), VoIP is currently studying several points of research. In this paper, analysis of VoIP performance is done with focusing on the mobility of MANETs. MOS(Mean Opinion Score), network delay, packet loss rates are considered as end-to-end QoS performance parameters.

  • 본 논문에서는 채널 결합 기법을 고려하여 DOCSIS 3.0 망에서 상향스트림 스케줄러를 설계하고 스케줄링 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 스케줄러는 Bonding Process Module, QoS Service Classifier, Upstream Scheduler, Framing Module 등으로 구성된다. 결합 채널에 대한 대역을 할당하기 위해 균등요구대역 할당알고리즘, 현재 요구대역할당을 고려한 요구대역 할당알고리즘, 이전 MAP의 대역 할당 정보를 고려한 요구대역 할당알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 스케줄러 및 스케줄링 알고리즘의 성능을 비교평가하기 위해 OPNET 기반의 DOCSIS 3.0 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하고, 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 성능평가 결과 CM에서 큐잉 지연과 CMTS에서 데이터 수신량 관점에서 균등요구할당 알고리즘이 우수한 성능을 나타냄을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • National institutions and companies worldwide are damaged through serious, advanced and persistent attacks. The cyber attack that occurred on March 20, 2013 in South Korea, emerged as a serious problem in highlighting the urgent need for future countermeasures. In this paper, we examine the APT attacks that occurred over the last two years. In particular, we discuss strategies for handling a cyber crisis in Korea, focusing on APT attacks that may occur in the future.

Secure Message Transmission against Remote Control System

  • A remote control system (RCS) can monitor a user's confidential information by using the broadcast receivers in Android OS. However, the current RCS detection methods are based only on a virus vaccine. Therefore, if the user's smartphone is infected by a brand new RCS, these methods cannot detect this new RCS immediately. In this paper, we present a secure message transmission medium. This medium is completely isolated from networks and can communicate securely through a QR code channel by using symmetric key cryptography such as the AES block cipher and public key cryptography such as elliptic curve cryptography for providing security. Therefore, the RCS cannot detect any confidential information. This approach is completely immune to any RCS attacks. Furthermore, we present a secure QR code-based key exchange protocol by using the elliptic curve Diffie-Hellman method and message transmission protocols; the proposed protocol has high usability and is very secure.

  • This paper describes the information transmission method using communication networks between the devices in Photovoltaic Power System, and also represents the test result which carried out in the field. In this test, transmission signal waveform, polling time, response time and request/response frame were measured between the devices. The measured results show the excellent transmission characteristics.

  • 자원의 제한을 가지는 센서로 구성된 무선 센서 네트워크에 적용하기 위하여 in-networking 프로세싱과 에너지 효율성을 제공하는 다양한 방식의 라우팅 프로토콜들이 제안되고 있다. 반면, 무선 센서 네트워크를 대상으로 하는 다양한 공격 형태들 또한 등장하고 있다. 무선 센서 네트워크상에서의 라우팅 프로토콜은 기존의 라우팅 방식과 달리 in-networking 프로세싱을 제공하기 때문에 라우팅 프로토콜에 대한 안전성 평가는 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 현재 무선 센서 네트워크상에서 제안된 라우팅 프로토콜과 공격에 대하여 살펴보고 각각의 공격에 대한 각 라우팅 프로토콜의 안전성을 평가한다. 이는 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 새로운 라우팅 프로토콜 제안 시 보안 취약점을 효과적으로 해결할 수 있는 방향을 제시 할 수 있다.

  • 복호 후 전달 협력 통신 프로토콜(DFP: Decode-and-Forward Cooperative Communication Protocol)은 물리적인 안테나의 증가 없이 다중 안테나 시스템의 장점을 가지는 통신 방법이다. 지금까지는 신호 대 잡음 비율(SNR: Signal to Noise Ratio)이나 경로이득 크기의 루트를 취한 값들을 이용하여 중계 노드에서 복호한 데이터를 전달 여부를 결정하여 중계 노드에서 부정확한 검파가 되지 않도록 방지하였다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 DFP 에서 사용되던 SNR 을 대체할 수 있는 LLR(Log-Likelihood Ratio)를 이용하는 방법을 제안하였다. 레일리 페이딩 환경과 AWGN 환경에서 기준값이나 중계 노드의 위치에 상관없이 LLR 기반의 DFP 가 SNR 기반의 DFP 보다 높은 성능을 보이는 것을 확인하였다.
