Recently, hydrogen has gained considerable attention as an eco-friendly fuel, which helps in reducing carbon dioxide content. Specifically, there is a growing interest in vehicles powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, which is spotlighted as an environmental-friendly alternative. A hydrogen transport system, fuel cell system, fuel supply system, power management system, and hydrogen storage system are key parts of a hydrogen fuel cell truck. In this study, a hydrogen storage system is built and analyzed. The expansion length of the storage vessel at maximum operating pressure (87.5 MPa) was calculated with ABAQUS, and then the optimized system was designed and built. The leak and bubble tests were performed on the built storage system. The leakage of the system was measured to be under 5 cc/hr. Hence, it can be used as a research test for the safety evaluation of leading systems of hydrogen fuel-powered commercial vehicles.

The IP cameras have rapidly replaced the analog CCTVs as the cameras have the advantages of not only being able to remotely monitor, but also supplying power through the UTP cable, In this paper, we introduce the protocol architecture of the ONVIF standard which is widely applied to the IP camera and other Internet protocols to support it, and implement the ONVIF Device on a commercial board. Although these functions can be controlled by the Client (PC), several functions such as privacy masks, temperature display of the thermal camera, and ROI (Region of Interest) are implemented through a web viewer on the device. Through the experiment, the functions of ONVIF Profile S and web viewer are verified through SOAP messages exchanged between Device (IP camera) and Client program and streamed images.
Application of a stronger and more durable material for reactor pressure vessels (RPVs) might be an effective way to insure the integrity and increase the efficiency of nuclear power plants. A series of research projects to apply the SA508 Gr.4 steel in ASME code to RPVs are in progress because of its excellent strength and durability compared to commercial RPV steel (SA508 Gr.3 steel). In this study, the microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of SA508 Gr.3 Mn-Mo-Ni low alloy steel and SA508 Gr.4N Ni-Mo-Cr low alloy steel were investigated. The differences in the stable phases between these two low alloy steels were evaluated by means of a thermodynamic calculation using ThermoCalc. They were then compared to microstructural features and correlated with mechanical properties. Mn-Mo-Ni low alloy steel shows the upper bainite structure that has coarse cementite in the lath boundaries. However, Ni-Mo-Cr low alloy steel shows the mixture of lower bainite and tempered martensite structure that homogeneously precipitates the small carbides such as $M_{23}C_6$ and $M_7C_3$ due to an increase of hardenability and Cr addition. In the mechanical properties, Ni-Mo-Cr low alloy steel has higher strength and toughness than Mn-Mo-Ni low alloy steel. Ni and Cr additions increase the strength by solid solution hardening. In addition, microstructural changes from upper bainite to tempered martensite improve the strength of the low alloy steel by grain refining effect, and the changes in the precipitation behavior by Cr addition improve the ductile-brittle transition behavior along with a toughening effect of Ni addition.
Various manufacturing technologies, including over-molding and insert-injection molding, are used to produce hybrid plastics and metals. However, there are disadvantages to these technologies, as they require several steps in manufacturing and are limited to what can be reasonably achieved within the complexities of part geometry. This study aims to determine a practical approach for producing metal/plastic hybrid components by combining plastic injection molding and metal die casting to create a new hybrid metal/plastic molding process. The integrated metal/plastic hybrid injection molding process developed in this study uses the proven method of multi-component technology as a basis to combine plastic injection molding with metal die casting into one integrated process. In this study, the electrical conductivity and ampacity were verified to qualify the new process for the production of parts used in electronic devices. The electrical conductivity was measured, contacting both sides of the test sample with constant pressure, and the resistivity was measured using a micro ohmmeter. Also, the specific conductivity was subsequently calculated from the resistivity and contact surface of the conductor path. The ampacity defines the maximum amount of current a conductive path can carry before sustaining immediate or progressive deterioration. The manufactured hybrid multi-components were loaded with increasing currents, while the temperature was recorded with an infrared camera. To compare the measured infrared images, an electro-thermal simulation was conducted using commercial CAE software to predict the maximum temperature of the power loaded parts. Overall, during the injection molding process, it was demonstrated that multifunctional parts can be produced for electric and electronic applications.
With increasingly strict requirements for advanced energy storage devices in electric vehicles (EVs) and stationary energy storage systems (EES), the development of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with high power density and safety has become an urgent task. Because the performance of LIBs is determined primarily by the physicochemical characteristics of its electrode material, TiO2, owing to its excellent stability, high safety levels, and environmentally friendly properties, has received significant attention as an alternative material for the replacement of commercial carbon-based anode materials. In particular, self-organized TiO2 micro and nanostructures prepared by anodization have been intensively investigated as promising anode materials. In this review, the mechanism for the formation of anodic TiO2 nanotubes and microcones and the parameters that influence their morphology are described. Furthermore, recent developments in anodic TiO2-based composites as anode electrodes for LIBs to overcome the limitations of low conductivity and specific capacity are summarized.

Metal three-dimensional (3D) printing is an important emerging processing method in powder metallurgy. There are many successful applications of additive manufacturing. However, processing parameters such as laser power and scan speed must be manually optimized despite the development of artificial intelligence. Automatic calibration using information in an additive manufacturing database is desirable. In this study, 15 commercial pure titanium samples are processed under different conditions, and the 3D pore structures are characterized by X-ray tomography. These samples are easily classified into three categories, unmelted, well melted, or overmelted, depending on the laser energy density. Using more than 10,000 projected images for each category, convolutional neural networks are applied, and almost perfect classification of these samples is obtained. This result demonstrates that machine learning methods based on X-ray tomography can be helpful to automatically identify more suitable processing parameters.
Since the Paris climate agreement, reducing greenhouse gases has been the most important global issue. In particular, it is necessary to reduce fossil fuels in the mobility sector, which accounts for a significant portion of total greenhouse gas emissions. In this paper, we investigated the economic feasibility of green mobility energy supply chains, which supply hydrogen as fuel to hydrogen vehicles based on electricity from renewable energy sources. The design and operation costs were analyzed by evaluating nine scenarios representing various combinatorial possibilities such as renewable energy generation, hydrogen production through water electrolytes, hydrogen storage and hydrogen refueling stations. Simulation calculations were made using Homer Pro, widely used commercial software in the field. The experience gained in this study could be further utilized to construct actual hydrogen energy systems.

In the most IPS (Indoor Positioning System), it is available to specify the user's movement by sending a specific signal from a tag such as a beacon to multiple receivers. This method is very efficiently used in places where the number of people is limited. On the other hand, in large commercial facilities, it is nearly difficult to apply the existing IPS method because it is necessary to attach a tag to each customer. In this paper, we propose a system that uses an external sensor grid to identify people's movement without using tags. Each sensor node uses both an ultrasonic sensor and an infrared sensor to monitor people's movements and sends collected data to the main server through wireless transmission for easy system maintenance. The operation was verified using the FPGA board, and we designed a VLSI circuit in 180nm process.

Single crystal gallium oxide (Ga2O3) has been an emerging material for power semiconductor applications. However, the defect distribution of Ga2O3 substrates needs to be carefully characterized to improve crystal quality during crystal growth. We analyzed the type and the distribution of defects on commercial (-201) Ga2O3 substrates to get a basic standard prior to growing Ga2O3 crystals. Etch pit technique was employed to expose the type of defects on the Ga2O3 substrates. Synchrotron white beam X-ray topography was also utilized to observe the defect distribution by a nondestructive manner. We expect that the observation of defect distribution with three-dimensional geometry will also be useful for other crystal planes of Ga2O3 single crystals.
Recently, the cattle genome sequence has been completed, followed by developing a commercial single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chip panel in the animal genome industry. In order to increase statistical power for detecting quantitative trait locus (QTL), a number of animals should be genotyped. However, a high-density chip for many animals would be increasing the genotyping cost. Therefore, statistical inference of genotype imputation (low-density chip to high-density) will be useful in the animal industry. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the reference population size and marker density on the imputation accuracy and to suggest the appropriate number of reference population sets for the imputation in Hanwoo cattle. A total of 3,821 Hanwoo cattle were divided into reference and validation populations. The reference sets consisted of 50k (38,916) marker data and different population sizes (500, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, and 3,600). The validation sets consisted of four validation sets (Total 889) and the different marker density (5k [5,000], 10k [10,000], and 15k [15,000]). The accuracy of imputation was calculated by direct comparison of the true genotype and the imputed genotype. In conclusion, when the lowest marker density (5k) was used in the validation set, according to the reference population size, the imputation accuracy was 0.793 to 0.929. On the other hand, when the highest marker density (15k), according to the reference population size, the imputation accuracy was 0.904 to 0.967. Moreover, the reference population size should be more than 1,000 to obtain at least 88% imputation accuracy in Hanwoo cattle.
