The purpose of this study was to understand clothing condition of elderly men focusing on somatotype variation and satisfaction with ready-to-wear and to provide basic data in designing ready-to-wrar for the elderly men. The questionnaire method was used and one-to-one interviews were held for the elderly residents in Seoul, Deajon, Jonju, and Yeosu areas. The total of 275 questionnaires (from 148 elderly men in the 60's, 99 in the 70's and 28 in the 80's) were collected and used for statistics. SAS package was used for the statistics and the statistics were based on frequency, X2-test, ANOVA, Duncan's multifle range test. The results of the study were as follows; 1) Height (p< .05), weight (p< .001) and Rohrer index (p< .05) decreased significantly with ageing 2) The somatotypes of 75.6% were changed and the 70's 8t the 80's showed significantly (p< .05) higher changing rate compared to the 60's and more changes took place significantly (p< .001) with ageing. 3) The most preferred out wear was suit & tie and next was jumper or shirt. 4) For the mode of getting suit, the highest number 55.3%) purchased ready-to-wear, next (32.0%) was tailored and the least (12.7%) neither purchased nor tailored. The percentage of buying ready-to-wear significantly (p< .01) decreased with ageing. The main reason for getting tailor-made was not well fitting of ready-to-wear (20.7% out of 32.0%). And for the mode of getting suit, there was significant differance with income (p< .001) and pocket money (p< .01). 5) The most important factors in suit and shirt werefirst, size (fitness) and second, comfort in movement. 6) For the wearing feeling of suit, 55.3% showed discomfort. There was significant difference according to the age (p< .05) and pocket money (p< .05). The Discomfort increased with ageing and less pocket money. 7) 62.4% answered it uneasy to Pick out well fitting If comfortable suit. This showed their dissatisfaction with ready-to-wear. 8) As for the items of not well fitting, 64.4% answered in jacket, 60.8% in trousers, 46.0% in shirt. The above result shows that elderly men's somatotype changes as they age, suit is found uncomfortable and it's not easy for elders to pick out comfortable ready-to-wear. So, they seem to have a certain dissatisfaction in ready to wear. Therefore, there is a need for reorganization of size and developing pattern design according to measurement of elderly men.
The purpose of this study is to investigate how the communication barriers which patients have at the dental clinic affect the patient's satisfaction and long term sustainable relationship. The subjects of this study were 214 patients from the dental clinic and the analysis was conducted using PASW Statistics 18.0 and IBM SPSS AMOS 21. As the results of factor analysis, the communication barriers were divided to four factors: one-sided communication, lack of trust and concern, patient and environment. In conclusion, the results of this study showed that the communication barriers which patients have with hygienist affected the patient's satisfaction and long term sustainable relationship. So It is imperative that the hygienist makes a concerted effort to ensure the comfort and trust of their patients. In cases where a patient shows discomfort or dissatisfaction, it is important that the hygienist guarantees open communication to the patient in order to gain their trust. Failing to do so may result in difficulties when trying to build a strong client base.

Recently, building is rapidly develop more intelligently because of the development of industries. And people seek such as comfort, efficiency, and convenience in office environment and the living environment. Also, people were able to use a variety of devices. Smart TV and smart phones were distributed widely so interaction between devices and human has been increase the interest. A various method study for interaction but there are some discomfort and limitations using controller for interaction. In this paper, a user could be easily interaction and control LED through using Kinect and gesture(hand gestures) without controller. we designed interface which is control LED using the joint information of gesture obtained from Kinect. A user could be individually controlled LED through gestures (hand movements) using the implementation of the interface. We expected developed interface would be useful in LED control and various fields.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate heat tolerance using heat tolerance indices, physiological, physical, thermographic, and hematological parameters in Santa Ines and Morada Nova sheep breeds in the Federal District, Brazil. Methods: Twenty-six adult hair sheep, one and a half years old, from two genetic groups (Santa Ines: 12 males and 4 females; Morada Nova: 7 males and 3 females) were used and data (rectal temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate, skin temperatures; hematological parameters) were collected during three consecutive days, twice a day (morning and afternoon), with a total of six repetitions. Also physical parameters (biometric measurements, skin and hair traits) and heat tolerance indices (temperature-humidity index, Iberia and Benezra) were evaluated. The analyses included analyses of variance, correlation, and principal components with a significance level of 5%. Results: The environmental indices, in general, indicate a situation of thermal discomfort for the animals during the afternoon. Breed significantly influenced (p<0.001) physiological and physical characteristics of skin, hair, biometric measurements and Iberia and Benezra heat tolerance indices. Santa Ines animals were bigger and had longer, greater number and darker hair, thicker skin, greater respiratory rate and Benezra index and lower Iberia index compared with Morada Nova breed. Conclusion: Although both breeds can be considered adapted to the environmental conditions of the region, Morada Nova breed is most suitable for farming in the Midwest region. The positive correlation found between the thermographic temperatures and physiological parameters indicates that this technique can be used to evaluate thermal comfort. Also, it has the advantage that animals do not have to be handled, which favors animal welfare.

Recently, because the market for compression wear now includes all consumers, not just professionals, various items for recovery after exercising or for enhanced effects from exercise have been introduced. In this research, a systematic and stepwise design process was proposed to develop compression garment that has both functional area and appropriate pressure to protect the knee when exercising. The U-V format functional area that wraps underneath the knee was selected by considering the shape and change in the skin length when bending the knee. After the selection of the functional area, a total of seven knee design areas, including the existing product, were designed to determine the appropriate pressure. After various movements, the compression garment was ranked in terms of support of the knee, level of pressure, discomfort of seam line, and comfort of popliteal; the preferred design was selected using the quad method. Four compression wear garments were produced using two selected preferred designs; the wear evaluation was performed using a seven-point Likert scale. As a result, the optimal reduction rate of the pattern was calculated based on Ziegert and Keil's method. The applied percentage of the fabric stretch at the upper part of the crotch was 66% for the width and 50% for the length; for the lower part of the crotch, only 66% for the width was applied. Moreover, it was determined that the design of the U-V knee protection part was preferred when a 7 mm square was placed at a 1 mm distance because this not only supports the knee but also allows the fabric to accommodate various skin deformations.
In South Korea, the government has recently enforced regulations associated with buildings. Temperature restriction in indoor environment is one of the common ways of energy reduction in order not to dissipate heating and cooling energy; however the people who are in restricted temperature feels uncomfortable. Furthermore, occupants cannot feel the same thermal sensation even they are in the same place. For the reason, occupants should express their thermal sensation and HVAC system should be able to apply their demand. It is proved by an adaptive principle. The adaptive model means that people react in ways which tend to restore their comfort, when change occurs such as to produce discomfort. In order to design HVAC control strategies based on adaptive model, we designated an existing office building as a reference building to gather data from actual field. Furthermore, we gathered occupants' thermal sensation and clothing insulation in real-time. We filtered the data with Kalman's filter method. The data was reasonable when there is an alarm messages for asking questionnaire. The response ratio were different in occupants' thermal condition. In conclusion, the filtered occupants' thermal sensation can be used as a real time HVAC control and input value of HVAC control.
This study presents quantitative evaluation standards for they mobility test, conducted in the process of a slacks fit test. This study quantified the subjects' evaluation on the wearability of slacks to provide objective qualitative evaluation methods for existing mobility tests. The subjects were women of standard bodytype between the ages of 18 and 24 wearing slacks designed to test their mobility based on differences in ease in waist girth, hip girth, crotch length and knee length. A qualitative evaluation tested the wearability of slacks. Clothing pressure and gap area between the body and slacks were measured based on a quantitative evaluation. The clothing pressure and the gap area between the body and slacks (which reflect the results of the wearability test) were presented in this study as quantitative evaluation standards. Clothing pressure tended to increase as the ease of slacks decreased; however, clothing pressure standards, that induce discomfort, differed by body parts. The hip, crotch, and knee area were relatively less sensitive despite the waist and the abdominal area sensitivity to clothing pressure. This study suggests the minimum ease for the appropriate wearing comfort of slacks by region and motion as standards for the quantitative evaluation of mobility tests. These was reset in accordance to the limits of clothing pressure when the minimum ease was considered as wearable but exceeded the clothing pressure limits.
When a high-speed train passes an underground station, large pressure waves are generated due to the piston effect. These pressure waves can cause the problems of vibration and noise as well as the ear discomfort of passengers at the underground station. This work numerically analyzed the pressure wave generation and propagation in an high-speed railway underground station, and the optimal location for vent shafts was studied to improve the passenger comfort by reducing the magnitude of the pressure wave and its rate of change. The evolution of pressure field in the underground station was calculated using a CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) software(Fluent), where the axis-symmetric two-dimensional model verified by Wu was used. And this study is applied to modelling of the underground station and the tunnel from Daegok station A-line of GTX(Great Train Express). From the result, we can have a conclusion that the role of vent shafts respectively were different according to the position in and out the underground station. Also Vent shaft in the underground station widely reduced pressure magnitude. And vent shaft out underground station reduced initial pressure peak value. Double vent shafts installed at tunnel toward station entrance and inside of the tunnel are the most efficient to reduce pressure. and pressure reduction increases according to the number of vent shaft.

This study was aimed to find out the problems of wearing flame-proof clothing and to analytically assess functional working-clothes, thus to propose a new design. We carried out a questionnaire with workers in the field and evaluated the facility for wearing, the sensation of wearing and clothing microclimate in the environmental chamber. We found out the problems were in the parts of neck, armpits, armhole, sleeve, crotch and suspenders. Thermal sensation, wet sensation and comfort sensations were evaluated to be 'hot', 'wet' and near to discomfort', respectively. Therefore, improvement of movement and air permeability is needed. If we can add gusset on armpit for air permeability, this gusset will enable to enlarge the surface in armpit area and finally give a movement efficiency. We suggested several new partly modified design for flame-proof clothing which can be applied to other protective clothing for improvement. This must be further considered in the ergonomic evaluation of new proposed functional working-clothes as well as in the suggestion of design.

This study was conducted to analyze the wearing condition on gloves for pilots and to suggest the developments for pilot gloves design. This survey was performed with 99 pilots and the questionnaires included items about discomfort, materials and problems when wearing pilot gloves. The respondents felt uncomfortable on the finger tip, the hollow area of the hand and the end of thumb when they move their hands with the gloves. They replied that the finger length, palm length, and circumference of the fingers did not match well. Also they complained there was severe abrasion in the tip of the thumb, finger tips and the middle of the palm of the gloves. The result of these analyses supports the following suggestions. It is necessary to improve durability by applying the additional materials to the severely worn parts. Punching on the glove materials could improve sweat rate and ventilation, and careful washing should be accompanied to prevent the occurrence of linters and transformation after laundering. And it is needed to prepare an accurate and more diversified size system and to design the gloves fitted to the individual hands. With these in mind, it is required to propose solutions for pilot gloves with reference to the survey results in order to design appropriate pilot gloves in terms of movement, size and material. It was concluded that an analysis of the wearing condition and developments are useful for ergonomics pilot gloves design.
