  • Performance analysis of the turboshaft engines for combined rotorcraft was executed. A tip jet and a ducted fan aircraft were selected for combined rotorcraft application. Gasturb 12 software was used for turboshaft engine performance analysis. In the results, maximum required power for the tip jet engine is about 1,600 hp class and maximum required power for the ducted fan engine is about 1,000 hp class at the required aircraft mission. This is due to the additional power of the auxiliary compressor to get a bleed air mass flow rate for the tip jet operation. At the same time, fuel consumption of the tip jet aircraft is 2.8 times larger than ducted fan case. Therefore ducted fan type aircraft is more efficient than tip jet aircraft in terms of fuel economy.

  • In this paper, we investigate a dynamic spectrum sharing problem for the centralized uplink cognitive radio networks using orthogonal frequency division multiple access. We formulate a large-scale joint rate and power allocation as an optimization problem under quality of service constraint for secondary users and interference constraint for primary users. We also suggest admission control to nd a feasible solution to the optimization problem. To implement the resource allocation on a large-scale, we introduce a notion of using the conservative factors $\alpha$ and $\beta$ depending on the outage and violation probabilities. Since estimating instantaneous channel gains is costly and requires high complexity, the proposed algorithm pursues a practical and implementation-friendly resource allocation. Simulation results demonstrate that the large-scale joint rate and power allocation incurs a slight loss in system throughput over the instantaneous one, but it achieves lower complexity with less sensitivity to variations in shadowing statistics.

  • In this paper, the error rate performance of L-level amplitude shift keying (ASK), M-ary phase shift keying (PSK) and amplitude phase keying (APK) systems have been studied in the presence of interference and noise. Using the derived error probability equations, the error rate performance of each L-level ASK and M-ary PSK system has been evaluated in terms of carrier-to-noise power ratio (CNR), carrier-to-interferer power ratio (CIR), and envelope distribution of interferer. These results are combined and then the error rate performance of APK signal has been found. Finally, the error rate performance is compared and discussed.

  • A shorted-turn test was performed at the Sininchon combined cycle power plant on gas turbine generators. The test was conducted using a permanent flux probe and on-line diagnosis system. The flux probe installed in the generator air gap senses the field winding slot leakage flux and produces a voltage proportional to the rate of change of the flux. This pattern of flux variation is a signature unique to each field winding. We have also applied a voltage waveform analysis technique that can identify the pole location, slot number and number of shorted-turn with each slot.

The flux probe installed in the generator air gap, senses the field winding slot leakage flux and produces a voltage proportional to the rate of change of the flux. This pattern of flux variation is a signature unique to each field winding. • We investigated whether 1) the combined capsaicin (75 mg), sesamin (30 mg), and L-carnitine (900 mg) (CCSC) ingestion enhances autonomic nervous system (ANS) activities including thermogenic sympathetic activity as energy metabolic modulator, 2) ${\beta}_3-AR$ polymorphism of each subject influences with ANS activity. Seven healthy males $(22.0{\pm}0.5\;yr)$ volunteered for this study. The cardiac autonomic nervous activities evaluated by means of heart rate variability of power spectral analysis were continuously measured during 5 min every 30 min for total 120 min resting condition with CCSC or placebo oral administration chosen at random. The results indicated that, there are not $Arp/Arg^{64}$ variants of the ${\beta}_3-AR$ genotypes in our subjects. There were not also significant differences in heart rate during rest between both trials. The difference of ANS activity did not reach the statistical significance between both trials. However, the significant improvement showed TOTAL power, HF component, and the indices of SNS and PNS activities before and at 30 min after CCSC ingestion (p<0.05, respectively). In conclusions, although each component of combined CCSC is associated with lipolysis and/or fat oxidation, the combined CCSC consumption is not influenced in stimulation of thermogenic sympathetic activity as modulator of energy metabolism. In rather, our results suggested that CCSC ingestion improves the balance of both SNS and PNS activities. Therefore, it will be considered many combined nutrient components for ergogenic and/or lipolysis effects as well as genetic variants affecting ANS activity in further studies.

  • In this paper, we first introduce a general architecture of an energy management system in a home area network based on a smart grid. Then, we propose an efficient scheduling method for home power usage. The home gateway (HG) receives the demand response (DR) information indicating the real-time electricity price, which is transferred to an energy management controller (EMC). Referring to the DR, the EMC achieves an optimal power scheduling scheme, which is delivered to each electric appliance by the HG. Accordingly, all appliances in the home operate automatically in the most cost-effective way possible. In our research, to avoid the high peak-to-average ratio (PAR) of power, we combine the real-time pricing model with the inclining block rate model. By adopting this combined pricing model, our proposed power scheduling method effectively reduces both the electricity cost and the PAR, ultimately strengthening the stability of the entire electricity system.

  • Base on emission factors derived from National Institute of Environmental Research, Particulate matter from combined cycle power plants (CCPPs) has been estimated to be a important source of $PM_{10}$. Generally there is no serious emission of particulate matter in CCPPs. because the fuel of them is natural gas. But emission gas after long shut down season has very high dust content. Therefore $PM_{10}$ emission rate is dependent on its operation mode. In this study, particulate dispersion study for new city near CCPPs complex has performed using CALPUFF model for three case. $PM_{10}$ concentration has big difference between normal operation and 2 case start-up condition after long shutdown. In normal operating conditions, daily $0.32{\sim}0.50{\mu}g/m^3$ influence on of the surrounding area. But when 1~2 aerobic high concentration discharged conditions, average concentration is higher about $9.2{\sim}34.1{\mu}g/m^3$ than normal operating conditions.

  • Supply Capability of the generator, if the maximum demand occurs, refers to the maximum power that can be stably supplied and it is possible to maintain stable power supply to be greater than actual load. However, unexpected power demand and reduction in supply Capability due to stop of unexpected generator in operation can temporarily make a big chaos in power system. In fact, due to a lack of power supply Capability in the country, enforced emergency load adjustment to the September 15, 2011, the circulation power outage has occurred in several cities. As the result, interrupted operation of the elevator and stopped hospital medical equipment led to a great deal of trouble to people's lives, causing a social problem. At that time, it was found that a failed frequency control because of smaller actual supply Capability than that of predicted. The difference was about 1,170 MW with Gas turbine power plant. By accurately calculating the generator supply capability, we can not only grasp the power reserve rate, but also correspond to the time of power supply instability.

  • Operating performance of industrial gas turbines in combined cycle power plants depends upon atmospheric conditions. Compressor fouling caused by airborne particles in the atmosphere and their adhesions on compressor blades is one of critical phenomena related to the performance degradation of industrial gas turbines. Compressor fouling provokes increase of pressure loss in inlet duct, decrease of mass flow rate of intake air and decrease of compressor stage efficiency. In this study, impacts of compressor fouling on the performance of an industrial gas turbine operating at design point condition are investigated analytically. As results, it is found that the reduction of produced power with decreased mass flow rate of intake air caused by narrowed flow area by the adhesion of airborne particles on compressor blades is the most dominant impact on the gas turbine performance by the compressor fouling phenomena.
