BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: A cross-sectional study was undertaken to evaluate fluid intake and hydration status in association with cognitive function among 230 adolescents (10-14 years of age) in Petaling Perdana, Selangor, Malaysia. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Urine color was used to measure hydration status, while fluid intake was assessed using the 15-item beverage intake questionnaire. Cognitive function was assessed using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fourth Edition. RESULTS: More than half of the adolescents were mildly or moderately dehydrated (59.6%) and only one-third (33.0%) were well hydrated. Among the daily fluid types, intakes of soft drinks (r = -0.180; P = 0.006), sweetened tea (r = -0.184; P = 0.005) and total sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) (r = -0.199; P = 0.002) were negatively correlated with cognitive function. In terms of hydration status, cognitive function score was significantly higher (F-ratio = 4.102; P = 0.018) among hydrated adolescents (100.38 ± 12.01) than in dehydrated (92.00 ± 13.63) counterparts. Hierarchical multiple linear regression analysis, after adjusting for socio-demographic factors, showed that soft drinks (β = -0.009; P < 0.05) and sweetened tea (β = -0.019; P < 0.05) negatively predicted cognitive function (ΔR2 = 0.044). When further control for sources of fluid, hydration status (β = -2.839; P < 0.05) was shown to negatively predict cognitive function (ΔR2 = 0.021). The above variables contributed 20.1% of the variance in cognitive function. CONCLUSIONS: The results highlight the links between fluid intake (soft drinks, sweetened tea, total SSBs) and hydration status with cognitive function in adolescents. Interventions aimed at decreasing the consumption of SSBs and increasing hydration status through healthy fluid choices, such as water, could improve cognitive performance in adolescents.
PURPOSE. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of abutment shade, ceramic thickness, and coping type on the final shade of zirconia all-ceramic restorations. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Three different types of disk-shaped zirconia coping specimens (Lava, Cercon, Zirkonzahn: ${\phi}10mm{\times}0.4mm$) were fabricated and veneered with IPS e.max Press Ceram (shade A2), for total thicknesses of 1 and 1.5 mm. A total of sixty zirconia restoration specimens were divided into six groups based on their coping types and thicknesses. The abutment specimens (${\phi}10mm{\times}7mm$) were prepared with gold alloy, base metal (nickel-chromium) alloy, and four different shades (A1, A2, A3, A4) of composite resins. The average $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ values of the zirconia specimens on the six abutment specimens were measured with a dental colorimeter, and the statistical significance in the effects of three variables was analyzed by using repeated measures analysis of variance (${\alpha}$=.05).The average shade difference (${\Delta}E$) values of the zirconia specimens between the A2 composite resin abutment and other abutments were also evaluated. RESULTS. The effects of zirconia specimen thickness (P<.001), abutment shade (P<.001), and type of zirconia copings (P<.003) on the final shade of the zirconia restorations were significant. The average ${\Delta}E$ value of Lava specimens (1 mm) between the A2 composite resin and gold alloy abutments was higher (close to the acceptability threshold of 5.5 ${\Delta}E$) than th ose between the A2 composite resin and other abutments. CONCLUSION. This in-vitro study demonstrated that abutment shade, ceramic thickness, and coping type affected the resulting shade of zirconia restorations.

PURPOSE. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the accuracy of a new implant impression technique using bite impression coping and a dual arch tray. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Two implant fixtures were placed on maxillary left second premolar and first molar area in dentoform model. The model with two fixtures was used as the reference. The impression was divided into 2 groups, n=10 each. In group 1, heavy/light body silicone impression was made with pick up impression copings and open tray. In group 2, putty/light body silicone impression was made with bite impression copings and dual arch tray. The reference model and the master casts with implant scan bodies were scanned by a laboratory scanner. Surface tessellation language (STL) datasets from test groups was superimposed with STL dataset of reference model using inspection software. The three-dimensional deviation between the reference model and impression models was calculated and illustrated as a color-map. Data was analyzed by independent samples T-test of variance at ${\alpha}=.05$. RESULTS. The mean 3D implant deviations of pick up impression group (group 1) and dual arch impression group (group 2) were 0.029 mm and 0.034 mm, respectively. The difference in 3D deviations between groups 1 and 2 was not statistically significant (P=.075). CONCLUSION. Within limitations of this study, the accuracy of implant impression using a bite impression coping and dual arch tray is comparable to that of conventional pick-up impression.

To produce a level-3 monthly composite image from daily level-2 Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) chlorophyll-a concentration data set in the East Sea, we applied four average methods such as the simple average method, the geometric mean method, the maximum likelihood average method, and the weighted averaging method. Prior to performing each averaging method, we classified all pixels into normal pixels and abnormal speckles with anomalously high chlorophyll-a concentrations to eliminate speckles from the following procedure for composite methods. As a result, all composite maps did not contain the erratic effect of speckles. The geometric mean method tended to underestimate chlorophyll-a concentration values all the time as compared with other methods. The weighted averaging method was quite similar to the simple average method, however, it had a tendency to be overestimated at high-value range of chlorophyll-a concentration. Maximum likelihood method was almost similar to the simple average method by demonstrating small variance and high correlation (r=0.9962) of the differences between the two. However, it still had the disadvantage that it was very sensitive in the presence of speckles within a bin. The geometric mean was most significantly deviated from the remaining methods regardless of the magnitude of chlorophyll-a concentration values. Its bias error tended to be large when the standard deviation within a bin increased with less uniformity. It was more biased when data uniformity became small. All the methods exhibited large errors as chlorophyll-a concentration values dominantly scatter in terms of time and space. This study emphasizes the importance of the speckle removal process and proper selection of average methods to reduce composite errors for diverse scientific applications of satellite-derived chlorophyll-a concentration data.

The purpose of this study was to analyze jeans market faced with economic difficulties to provide jean's maker with a large representative data base for jeans marketing strategy. This study surveyed jeans market and analyzed brand awareness. brand image and consumer's seeking image for 700 young adults. The 700 questionnaires were distributed at the five locations(Opkujung Shinchon Munjungdong, Shinrimdong '||'&'||' Suwon) and 656 reliable ones were used for statistical analysis. A. SAS statistical package including frequency table factor analysis. analysis of variance. and Duncan's multiple range test was used. The results are as follows : 1. Brand awareness involves "brand recall" based on asking a person to name recalled first and "brand rcognition" based on asking to identify brand name from 30 given brands. The result indicated that "Levis" was dominant for brand recall and Guess was dominant for brand recognition. 2. Regarding the brand image the result showed that "Vov" was best represented for sophisticated '||'&'||' trendy brand images "Storm" for characteristics brand image "Jambangee" for reasonable price '||'&'||' comfortable brand images and "Levis" for classic '||'&'||' design/color brand images. 3. As a result of factor analysis on consumer's seeking image six factors(characteristic/gay, intelligent/sexy, feminine/sophisticated , active/functional, cute/young, simple/comfortable) were found. Several factors had a relationship with demographic variables and preferred design. 4 Many young adults favored following design details ; low waist relaxed thigh with straight leg and long length up to the end of shoes. Also they preferred basic pocket to cargo pocket and simple logo accessories to metal ones.simple logo accessories to metal ones.
The purposes of this study were to investigate life style and various clothing purchasing behaviors of female consumers, and to analyze the differences of life style and clothing purchasing behaviors by 3 age groups(adolescence, middle age, and senescence). The subjects were 750 adult women aged from twenties to sixties who live in Daejeon and Chungnam province. The research method is a survey and research instruments consisted of life style questionnaire, clothing purchasing behaviors questionnaires, and demographic attribution. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, variance analysis, Duncan's multiple range test and $X^2$ test, using SPSS program. The research results are follows. First, 6 factors were emerged in life style(appearance-oriented, achieve-oriented, social life-oriented, economic- oriented, equality of sexes-oriented, and leisure- oriented). Second, 5 factors were emerged in shopping orientation(resonable shopping, conspicuous shopping, voluptuous shopping, devoted shopping, and convenient shopping). Third, clothing purchasing behaviors of adult women showed many differences by age groups. Adolescence women considered more criterion including design, price, and color or pattern, purchased their clothing by psychological reason such as fashion change, and used internet as important source of clothing, whereas senescence women purchased by physical reason such as body size change and functional trouble, used friend and sales person as important source of clothing, and purchased clothing at department store and old style market.
Coating treatment with 120 kDa of chitosan on bread was decreased growth rate of bacteria and not detected growth of any fungi during storage period. Bread with coating by 1% and 2% of 120 kDa chitosan have had the high antioxidant. Change in the water content was lawered as the higher concentration of chitosan coating on bread. water activity has a low variance untill 2% of chitosan concentration and so there result are expected on inhibition effect of retrogradation in bread during storage period. The change of pH was not detected in bread. And the color of bread have not effected on treatment with below 2% of chitosan but had a little effect by 2% of chitosan coating.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the legibility of one-syllable Korean characters with the participation of sixteen subjects. The experiment considered nine factors including age (young and old), gender (male and female), illuminance (150lx and 600lx), viewing distance (50cm and 200cm), material type (paper and LCD), typeface (Ming and Gothic), thickness (plain and bold), color contrast (black letter/white background and white letter/black background), and complexity (simple, complex, and number) to examine main effects with a $2^{6-3}\times3$ fractional factorial design. The dependent variables were minimum character size of 100% correctness, maximum character size of 0% correctness, and minimum character size of comfortable reading preference. The results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that age, illuminance, viewing distance and complexity were significant for all dependent variables, except gender which was significant only for the minimum character size of comfortable reading preference. In general, the young could see twofold smaller size letters than the elderly. The subjects could see smaller sized letters with the illuminance of 600lx and viewing distance of 50cm than 150lx and 200cm, respectively and also with numbers, simple characters, and complex characters in that order. The findings of this study could be characterized about the legibility of Korean characters and be good resources for developing its standard.
The manufacture of beverages prepared using hot-water extracts of Polygonatum odoratum var. pluriflorum, Houttuynia cordata, and Lycium chinensis was statistically optimized using response surface methodology. The total polyphenol content, electron donation activity, and reducing power of optimized beverages were measured to evaluate antioxidant properties. The coefficients of determination, the $R_2$ values, were 0.9887~0.9957 for color, taste and overall acceptability. Analysis of variance showed that the model fit was a statistically significant (p<0.05). The optimized compositions of processed beverages were: Polygonatum odoratum var. pluriflorum extract, 2.15%; Houttuynia cordata extract, 1.74%; and Lycium chinensis extract, 0.19% (all w/w). Total polyphenol content, electron donation activity, and reducing power of beverages of optimized composition were 3.61 mg/L, 23.78%, and 0.26, respectively.
The purpose of the present study was to identify the effect of perceivers’value and religions on the impresson of Korean catholic priest’s ritual dress. The subject consisted of 415 undergraduated students. The experimental materials developed for this study were 3type color photographs stimuli of catholic priest model and 7-point sementic differential scale composed of 49 bipolar adjectives representing personal traits. Perceivers were differenciated by AVL test. The data were analyzed by factor analysis and analysis of variance. The major findings drawl from this study were as follows : 1) Four factors( openness, religious nature, potency, characteristics of apperance) emerged to account for the dimentional structure of the impression of priest’s ritual dress. 2) The ritual dress and perceivers religion had partially significant effect on the impression of the priest. The ritual dress had an effect on openness and potency while the religious of perceivers affected religious symbolism and potency. Black suit with Roman collar and soutan were seen more authoritative, strong and independent than liturgical vestments. Catholic group saw priest with ritual dress more pure and potent than the other religious groups. 3) The ritual dress and perceiver’s value had partially significant effect on the impression of the priest. The ritual dress had an effect on openness, potency and the value had an significant interaction effect on potency. The group with political value perceived the priest with soutan more potent than black suit with Roman collar and liturgical vestments. Therefore the ritual dress and perceivers’value/religion had significant erect on Korean priest impression of openness, religious nature, potency. Research had also shown the similarity-attraction hypothesis which the individuals who hold similar characterisics are more Likely to be attracted.
