  • We propose a method to identify vehicle type by the formula of distance between feature points of vehicle and proportional rate of size. Car images are converted from the basic RGB model to the gray color model. Perform Canny Edge Direction to remove the background image of the car. The desired feature points are obtained through contour extraction.

  • The Alaska competition provides an opportunity to study the practical problems of real-world steganalysis. Participants are required to solve steganalysis involving various embedding schemes, inconsistency JPEG Quality Factor and various processing pipelines. In this paper, we propose a method to ensemble multiple deep learning steganalyzers. We select SRNet and RESDET as our base models. Then we design a three-layers model ensemble network to fuse these base models and output the final prediction. By separating the three colors channels for base model training and feature replacement strategy instead of simply merging features, the performance of the model ensemble is greatly improved. The proposed method won second place in the Alaska 1 competition in the end.

  • David Harris argues that mass media suppress counter-hegemonic factors in order to reach audience. According to Harris's theory, the success of the film "Tess" depends on its effective adaptation from Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles (1891). Tess (1979), directed by Roman Polansky, casting Nastassia Kinski for Tess, was acclaimed as a professional and commercial success, awarded with various prizes. Hardy's aim at criticizing Victorian English social and moral standard through Tess appears obscure in Polansky's film which focuses on the aesthetics of human body and capital. Polanski's Tess with urban white beauty does not emerge victimized by poverty, which the late twentieth century audience under the capitalist umbrella may abhor. To examine his use of music, sound effect, visual images by means of camera operation—angles, distances, close-ups and frequent movements—light and color, and mythic elements in the film, show Polansky's sharp perception of his contemporary audience's desire and conscientious work upon it.

  • Two cold water species of dendronotid nudibranchs are described for the first time in Korea: Dendronotus frondosus (Ascanius, 1774) and Dendronotus robilliardi Korshunova, Sanamyan, Zimina, Fletcher & Martynov, 2016. Dendronotus frondosus is characterized by the color pattern of deep dark-brown with white specks and mottles on the dorsum. Dendronotus robilliardi is distinguished by the body of translucent white with milky stripes and orange-brown markings in papillae, and D. robilliardi from Korean water is commonly examined with white dots on the anterior dorsum. Images of external morphology and brief re-descriptions of two species were provided. Further, we confirmed the opinion of Korshunova et al. that the Korean D. albus image by Koh would be D. robilliardi.

  • The order Nudibranchia Cuvier, 1817 is among the most colorful gastropod group that lacks an external shell and mantle cavity at their adult stage. They are widely found in the intertidal to subtidal zones of marine habitats worldwide. To date, a total of 58 species are known from Korean waters. In this study, we report seven nudibranch species that are newly reported from Korean waters and provide their color images of external body, morphological description, taxonomic remarks, and mtDNA cox1 barcode sequence information: Dendronotus primorjensis Martynov, Sanamyan & Korshunova, 2015; Doto japonica Odhner, 1936; Trinchesia ornata (Baba, 1937); Antiopella fusca (O'Donoghue, 1924); Cadlina paninae Korshunova, Fletcher, Picton, Lundin, Kashio, N. Sanamyan, K. Sanamyan, Padula, Schrodi & Martynov, 2020; Rostanga bifurcata Rudman & Avern, 1989; and Goniodoridella savignyi Pruvot-Fol, 1933.

  • Digital image recognition has been used for steel bridge surface assessment since late 1990s. However, the non-uniform illumination problems such as shades, shadows, and highlights are still challenges in image processing to date. Therefore, this paper develops a new approach to tackle the non-uniform illumination problem for rust image adjustment. The inhomogeneous illumination problem is divided into shades/shadows and highlights in this paper. The proposed BEMD-morphology approach (BMA) utilizes the bidimensional empirical mode decomposition to mitigate the shade/shadow effect, and the morphological processing to detect and replace the highlight area. Finally, the rust image processed with the BMA will be segmented by the K-Means algorithm, one of the most popular and effective methods, to show the effectiveness of illumination adjustment.

  • With development of information technology and necessity for high security, using different identification methods has become very important. Each biometric feature has its own advantages and disadvantages and choosing each of them depends on our usage. Retinal scanning is a bio scale method for identification. The retina is composed of vessels and optical disk. The vessels distribution pattern is one the remarkable retinal identification methods. In this paper, a new approach is presented for identification via retinal images using LBP and hog methods. In the proposed method, it will be tried to separate the retinal vessels accurately via machine vision techniques which will have good sustainability in rotation and size change. HOG-based or LBP-based methods or their combination can be used for separation and also HSV color space can be used too. Having extracted the features, the similarity criteria can be used for identification. The implementation of proposed method and its comparison with one of the newly-presented methods in this area shows better performance of the proposed method.

  • In iris diagnostics, iris changes in its area on the iris map when abnormal changes in human tissues and organs occur in response to changes in color and iris structure. This makes it possible to determine the long-term condition in which an abnormal change has occurred, and to determine the presence or absence of a congenital illness. In this paper, we design a neural network algorithm that is displayed on the iris and classifies lesions by using a convolution neural network that has the advantage of advancing learning using images of various dip-running neural networks.

  • As digital education progresses, MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) are increasingly utilized by learners, making research on MOOC learning outcomes a necessary endeavor. In this study, we systematically investigated the impact of audiovisual elements on learning outcomes in MOOC, highlighting the nuanced role these components play in enhancing educational effectiveness. Through a comprehensive survey and rigorous analysis involving descriptive statistics, reliability metrics, and regression techniques, we quantified the influence of text, graphics, color, teacher images, sound effects, background music, and teacher's voice on learner attention, cognitive load, and satisfaction. We discovered that background music and text layout significantly improve engagement and reduce cognitive burden, underscoring their pivotal role in the instructional design of MOOC. We findings contribute new insights to the field of digital education, emphasizing the critical importance of integrating audiovisual elements thoughtfully to foster better learning environments and outcomes. Not only advances academic understanding of multimedia learning impacts but also offers practical guidance for educators and course designers seeking to enhance the efficacy of MOOC.
