  • In Interior design, light is the most important factor in deciding color, texture and illumination level which are the basic factors of spatial design. To apply rendering technologies on prediction of illuminating effect, it is important to understand and analyse the basic properties of the illumination models that are local illumination model and global illumination model. The illumination models in computer graphics express the factors which determine the surface color, texture and light distribution through the reflection. The purpose of this study is to propose the best way of shading algorithm in interior space provided by the computer, based on the experimental analysis that 5 shading methods are applied to the interior space. The results of this study were as followed. 1) Local illumination models that are Lambert shading, Ground shading and Phong shading are not suitable to the prediction of interior illumination effect. 2) Ray tracing that is global illumination model could be adopted to interior illumination effects. Ray tracing is a very versatile algorithm because of the large range of lighting effects it can model. 3) Neither radiality nor ray tracing offers a complete solution for simulating all interior illumination effects. 4) Radiosity excels at rendering diffuse-to-diffuse inter-reflections and ray tracing excels at rendering specular reflections. By merging both shading techniques, that offers the best of both. Using computer technologies to simulate lighting in preliminary design stage which will provide information for designers and occupants to determine the effect of using artificial light sources at each stage of their design process. Further study in illumination analysis, prediction of illumination effect, and lighting calculation is required as computer media expands.

  • This paper is to enhance a color image running in the PXA255 ARM processor based on embedded linux environments. Retinex is one of the representative algorithm for image enhancement in the previous research. However, retinex is not suitable the run on the embedded system because of its long processing time. So, we proposed the image enhancement algorithm for embedded system, with less quantity of operation and the effect equivalent to retinex. To achieve this goal, we propose and implement the image enhancement algorithm, which utilizes the image formation model and gamma correction to be effective in a back-light and dark image. The proposed algorithm converts the color space from RGB to HSV, and then V and S channels are processed. In order to optimize the proposed method in the PXA255 ARM processor, quantity of calculation is reduced. The performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated through qualitative method and quantitative method. The results show that brightness and contrast are improved with less quantity of operation.

  • This study is to improve the design of bus transfer information that can be substantially used. This study has been processed using the following steps. First, I tried to define the information design and way-finding information design. Secondly, I have researched several case studies, and considered solutions. Finally, I evaluated way-finding maps through pair-wise comparisons, and drew needs through an interview. As the result of this research, there were some problems in font size, improper space between letters and non-consistent information. To solve these problems, the information has to be clear using easy symbols to be well-recognized by citizens. Also, the font size needs to be decided by a calculation of minimum legible size of letters. Lastly, a value contrast between a background color and a letter color needs to be applied more than 70 percent for better visibility. The study is expected to be used as a reference which helps informational design to be developed.

  • In order to construct the News Video Database System, cut detection technique is very important. In general, the color histogram, $\chi$2 histogram or Bin-to-Bin difference(B2B) techniques are mainly using for the scene partitioning. In this paper, we propose the efficient algorithm that is applied the weight in terms of NTSC standard to cut detection. This algorithm is able to reduce the time of acquiring and comparing histogram using by separate calculation of R, G, and B for the color histogram technique. And it also provide the efficient selection method fo threshold value by and use the news videos of KBS, MBC, SBS, CNN and NHK as experimental domains. By the result of experiment, we present the proposed algorithm is more efficient for cut detection than the previous methods, and that the basis for the automatic selection of threshold values.

  • As society develops, the importance of safety for individuals and facilities in public places is getting higher. Not only the areas such as the existing parking lot, bank and factory which require security or crime prevention but also individual houses as well as general institutions have the trend to increase investment in guard and security. This study suggests face feature extract and the method to simply divide face region and head region that are import for face recognition by using color transform. First of all, it is to divide face region by using color transform of Y image of YIQ image and head image after dividing head region with K image among CMYK image about input image. Then, it is to extract features of face by using labeling after Log calculation to head image. The clearly divided head and face region can easily classify the shape of head and face and simply find features. When the algorism of the suggested method is utilized, it is expected that security related facilities that require importance can use it effectively to guard or recognize people.

  • Emotional awareness is the image of a person is represented by different tendencies. Currently, the emotion computing to objectively evaluate the emotion recognition research is being actively studied. However, existing emotional computing research has many problems to run. First, the non-objective in emotion recognition if it is inaccurate. Second, the correlation between the emotion recognition is unclear points. So to test the regularity of image sensitivity to the need of the present study is to control emotions in the computing system. In addition, the screen number of the emotion recognized for the purpose of this study, applying the method of objective image emotional computing system and compared with a similar degree of emotion of the person. The key features of the image emotional computing system calculates the emotion recognized as numbered digital form. And to study the background of emotion computing is a key advantage of the effect of the James A. Russell for digitization of emotion (Core Affect). Pleasure emotions about the core axis (X axis) of pleasure and displeasure, tension (Y-axis) axis of tension and relaxation of emotion, emotion is applied to the computing research. Emotional axis with associated representative sensibility very happy, excited, elated, happy, contentment, calm, relaxing, quiet, tired, helpless, depressed, sad, angry, stress, anxiety, pieces 16 of tense emotional separated by a sensibility ComputingIt applies. Course of the present study is to use the color of the color key elements of the image computing formula sensitivity, brightness, and saturation applied to the sensitivity property elements. Property and calculating the rate sensitivity factors are applied to the importance weight, measured by free-level sensitivity score (X-axis) and the tension (Y-axis). Emotion won again expanded on the basis of emotion crossed point, and included a representative selection in Sensibility size of the top five ranking representative of the main emotion. • This study is to understand Chang-ui construction of the middle Chosun Dynasty through the reconstruction of the blue Chang-ui which was excavated from General Parks tomb. The followings are the results of this study. There are 4 styles in excavated Chang-ui of middle Chosun Dynasty: Two styles seem to belong to the early 17th Century and the other, the late 17th century. The former is classified into 2 styles by the gender of the wearer, the latter is also classified into 2 styles by etiquette of clothing. We can assume that Chang-ui excavated from General Parks tomb was the womans clothing in early 17th century. This Chang-ui(II) differs from other Chang-ui(I) at two points. One is the construction of the trapezoid and triangle gussets on the side seam of clothing. The other is the construction of the narrow width of clothing(23cm). We have found that these two gussets could improve the active aspect of clothing and save materials. It is identified that the green tone was faded from the blue color of Chang-ui according to the calculation of the L*a*b.

  • To establish a monthly data collection planning for the Ocean Scanning Multispectral Imager (OSMI), we have examined the global patterns of three impacting factors: pigment concentration, cloud cover, and sun glint. Other than satellite mission constraints (e.g., duty cycle), these three factors are considered critical for the OSMI data collection. The Nimbus-7 Coastal Zone Color Scanner (CZCS) monthly mean products and the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) monthly mean products (C2) were used for the analysis of pigment concentration and cloud cover distributions, respectively. And the monthly simulated patterns of sun glint were produced by performing the OSMI orbit prediction and the calculation of sun glint radiances at the top-of-atmosphere (TOA). Using monthly statistics (mean and/or standard deviation) of each factor in the above for a given 10$^{\circ}$ latitude by 10$^{\circ}$ longitude grid, we generated the priority map for each month. The priority maps of three factors for each month were subsequently superimposed to visualize the impact of three factors in all. The initial results illustrated that a large part of oceans in the summer hemisphere was classified into the low priority regions because of seasonal changes of clouds and sun illumination. Sensitivity tests were performed to see how cloud cover and sun glint affect the priority determined by pigment concentration distributions, and consequently to minimize their seasonal effects upon the data collection planning.

  • New series of phthaloperinone dyes were synthesized by the condensation reaction between tetrachloro-phthalic anhydride, 2,3-naphthalene dicarboxylic anhydride and o-phenylenediamine, 1,8-diaminonaphthalene, 1,2-diaminoanthraquinone. These dyes absorb at around 370-490nm. It was found that introduction of naphthalene and anthraquinone moiety on the perinone system produces a large bathochromic shift of 100nm. The synthesized dye 7 containing anthraquinone moiety in perinone chromophoric system exhibited superior heat stability and bright color as yellow chromophore. New dye 7 have been investigated in terms of interacting with volatile organic compound(VOC) $EtNH_2$. The sensing behaviour of the dye 7 toward $EtNH_2$ was studied by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Sensing mechanism of dye 7 to $EtNH_2$ was supported by theoretical calculations based on DFT method.

  • Kinetics and mechanism for alkaline hydrolysis of C. I. Disperse Green 9(G-9) of dinitrothiophene disperse dye were investigated. As soon as G-9 contacted with alkali, instant and continuous decreases of color strength of G-9 followed with increasing time. The hydrolysis rate of G-9 increased with increasing alkali, and it was found that alkali appeared first order dependence. The observed rate constants obtained from hydrolysis of various amount of dye were similar values, and calculation of initial rates showed that G-9 hydrolyzed by first order reaction for dye. Therefore it was confirmed that the overall reaction was second order, $SN_2$ of nucleophilic substitution reaction. Increasing temperature enhanced the hydrolysis of G-9. From the results of hydrolysis performed at various temperatures, it was obtained that activation energy(Ea) was 12.6 kcal/mole, enthalpy of reaction(${\triangle}H$) was 12.0 kcal/mole, and entropy of reaction(${\triangle}S$) was $29.8J/mol{\cdot}K$.
