  • A mis-handling of the ship operators, treated as one qf the main causes of a ship accidents, normally has caused a ship to collide with obstacles like a reef, a rock and other ships etc. since their ability has been declining little by little even though the port conditions have been getting worse. The ship needs a highly sophisticated technology as her size and speed increase as the ship have been demanded. For example, Auto Avoidance Control System gradually has been receiving a growing interest to control the entire ship safely. From that purpose, this research has been done. The research was based on the MMG mathematical model, used Surge-Sway-Yaw-Roll motion equation and Fuzzy theory for calculating the collision-risk Also the research successively was done when the ship encountered continual multitude ships.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient method to extract surface atoms from a protein molecule. Surface atoms are defined as a set of atoms who can contact given probe solvent $P$, where $P$ does not collide with the molecule. The atoms contained in the molecule are represented as a set of spheres with van der Waals radii. The probe solvent also is represented as a sphere. We propose a method to extract the surface atoms by computing the offset surface of the molecule with respect to the radius of $P$. For efficient computation of the offset surface of a molecule, a voxel map is constructed for the offset surfaces of the spheres. Based on GPU (graphic processor unit) acceleration, a data parallel algorithm is used to extract the surface atoms in 42.87 milliseconds for the molecule containing up to 6,412 atoms.

  • This work studies the performance of an injector for a monopropellant thruster, comparing a conventional and new injector types. The conventional injector consists of 8 nozzles on a convex surface allowing the jet to be diverged. The new injector, we suggested, is an impinging type with nozzle holes on a concave surface. The fuel streams through the nozzle holes are collide at a point on an axial direction, which allow to atomize the liquid streams and to spray more uniformly along circular direction. The performance of the injectors is investigated by using computational fluid dynamics, particle image velocimetry and high speed camera visualization.

  • A space plasma facility has been operated with a back-diffusion-type plasma source installed in a mid-sized vacuum chamber with a diameter of ~1.5 m located in Satellite Technology Research Center (SaTReC), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). To generate plasma with a temperature and density similar to the ionospheric plasma, nickel wires coated with carbonate solution were used as filaments that emit thermal electrons, and the accelerated thermal electrons emitted from the heated wires collide with the neutral gas to form plasma inside the chamber. By using a disk-type Langmuir probe installed inside the vacuum chamber, the generation of plasma similar to the space environment was validated. The characteristics of the plasma according to the grid and plate anode voltages were investigated. The grid voltage of the plasma source is realized as a suitable parameter for manipulating the electron density, while the plate voltage is suitable for adjusting the electron temperature. A simple physical model based on the collision cross-section of electron impact on nitrogen molecule was established to explain the plasma generation mechanism.

  • Pacific bluefin tuna (Thunnus orientalis) is one of the commercially important species in Korea as well as other countries of the North Pacific. Korean offshore large purse seine fisheries targeting small pelagic fishes such as chub mackerel have caught T. orientalis temporarily in the east of Jeju Island. The catch of T. orientalis in March through June occupied approximately 60% of the total. The monthly catch around Jeju Island from 2004 to 2013 showed a negative correlation (r = - 0.755, p < 0.01) with the seawater temperature at 50 m and had a significant positive correlation (r = 0.856, p < 0.01) with the Pacific Decadal Oscillation Index (PDOI). The highest catch and catch per unit effort (CPUE) of T. orientalis around Jeju Island occurred either when the seawater temperature ranged between 15 and $16^{\circ}C$ at 50 m or when the catch was taken near the frontal area where two water masses from offshore and coastal areas collide. The length of T. orientalis caught around Jeju Island from 2004 to 2013 ranged from 19 to 193 cm in fork length (FL). The time series of the monthly mean FL of T. orientalis had a negative correlation (r = - 0.592, p < 0.01) with the seawater temperature at 50 m and had a significant positive correlation (r = 0.668, p < 0.05) with PDOI.

  • The geostationary satellite uses a liquid apogee engine, to obtain a required velocity increment to enter a geostationary orbit. However, as the liquid apogee engine operates in the vacuum, a considerable disbursement of exhaust plume flow, from the liquid apogee engine can trigger a backflow. As this backflow may possibly collide with the satellite directly, it can cause adverse effects such as surface contamination, thermal load, and altitude disturbance, that can generate performance reduction of the geostationary satellite. So, this study investigated exhaust plume behavior of 400 N grade liquid apogee engine numerically. To analyze exhaust plume behavior in vacuum condition, the DSMC (Direct Simulation Monte Carlo) method based on Boltzmann equation is used. As a result, thermal fluid characteristics of exhaust plume such as temperature and number density, are observed.

  • This study is concerned with analysing complexity, flexibility and dynamism of social discoursive space. The developmental process of social discourse is analogous to that of a spatial structure of social discourse. Post-capitalist society has seen New-Liberalism and New-Conservatism have become dominant, resulting in the deterioration of the cultural politics of citizenship. It is argued that the position of otherness, in which those binary structures (inside/outside or centre/margin) collide and collapse, is where subversive discourse can emerge to dominant discursive power. Furthermore, it is necessary to democratize social discursive space, through which the Other becomes able to. participate in the social production, distribution and consumption of social discourse.

  • Recently, HTML5 have drawn many people's attention since it is considered as a next-generation web standard and can implement a lot of graphic and multimedia-related techniques on a web browser without installing programs separately. In this paper, we implement a game independent of platforms, such as iOS and Android, using the HTML5 canvas. In the game, the main character can move up, down, left, and right not to collide with neighboring enemies. If the character collides with an enemy, the HP (hit point) gauge bar reduces. On the other hand, if the character obtains heart items, the gauge bar increases. In the future, we will add various items to the game and will diversify its user interfaces by applying computer vision techniques such as various gesture recognition.

  • Recently, research on the automation of home IoT has been carried out in which IoT (Internet of Things) is applied inside the home. However, the conventional IoT automation system has a problem that the operation of the device is limited only by the threshold value of the sensor, so that the device may collide and interfere with each other and the efficiency of the Task is low due to the malfunction of the device. In this paper, we propose a Situation-specific task classification algorithm to solve these problems. Using the sensor threshold and the current date as classification values in the decision tree, the task according to the internal situation of the home is classified and the corresponding device is selected and proceeded. Therefore, it is expected that the users will be provided with a service that changes flexibly according to changes in the internal situation of the home, and the accuracy of the operation will be increased by reducing the malfunction of the device and the collision between the devices.

  • In this paper, a DFSA (Dynamic Framed Slotted ALOHA) based anti-collision algorithm is described and a performance improved algorithm of DFSA and FSA is proposed. The proposed method makes use of expected values and has merits in operation speed by estimating closest value of the number of tags on a single operation. The algorithm compares and analyses number of empty slots and collide slots in accordance with the number of tags, which enables estimation of actual number of tags. we simulated the proposed algorithm and compared it with conventional methods. Results show that our method needs average 18.8 rounds to identify all tags. In case of less than 1000 tags, an average of 18.2 rounds is necessary and an average of 19.2 rounds is needed to identify all tags for more than 1000 tags. The proposed algorithm improves processing speed by 3.1 % comparing to DFSA with cancellation strategy, 10.1 % comparing to DFSA, 37.5 % comparing to FSA(Framed Slotted ALOHA).
