  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a numerical algorithm for the problem of coefficient identification of the scalar wave equation based on a local observation on the boundary: Determine the unknown coefficient function with the knowledge of simultaneous Dirichlet and Neumann boundary values on a part of boundary. To find the unknown coefficient function, the unknown Neumann boundary value is also identified. We recast our inverse problem to variational problem. The gradient method is applied to find the minimizing functions. We confirm the effectiveness of our algorithm by numerical experiments.

  • We obtain multiplicity results for the nonlinear biharmonic problem with variable coefficient. We prove by the Leray-Schauder degree theory that the nonlinear biharmonic problem has multiple solutions for the biharmonic problem with the variable coefficient semilinear term under some conditions.

  • New method for evaluation of heat transfer coefficient is proposed. In general, many researchers have been studied about inverse problem in order to calculate the heat transfer coefficient on three-dimensional heat conduction problem. But they can get the time-dependent heat transfer coefficient only through inverse problem. In order to acquire temperature-dependent heat transfer coefficient, it requires much time for numerous repetitive calculation and inconvenient manual modification. In order to solve these problems, we are using the SQP(Sequential Quadratic Programming) as an optimization algorithm. When the temperature history is given by experiment, the optimization algorithm can evaluate the temperature-dependent heat transfer coefficient with automatic repetitive calculation until difference between calculated temperature history and experimental ones is minimized. Finally, temperature-dependent heat transfer coefficient evaluated by developed program can used on various heat transfer problem.

  • We obtain the multiple solutions for the fourth order elliptic problem with a variable coefficient and a jumping semilinear term. We have a result that there exist at least two solutions if the variable coefficient of the semilinear term crosses some number of the eigenvalues of the biharmonic eigenvalue problem. We obtain this multiplicity result by applying the Leray-Schauder degree theory.

  • This paper is concerned with an estimation problem for the AR(1) process $Y_t, t=0, {\pm}1, {\cdots}$with time carying autoregressive coefficient, where coefficient itself is also stochastic process. Attention is directed to the problem of finding a consistent estimator of ${\Phi}$, the mean level of autoregressive coefficient. The asymptotic distribution of the resulting consistent estimator of ${\Phi}$, is them discussed. We do not assume any time series model for the time varying autoregressive coefficient.

  • We investigate the number of the solutions for the biharmonic boundary value problem with a variable coefficient nonlinear term. We get a theorem which shows the existence of $m$ weak solutions for the biharmonic problem with variable coefficient. We obtain this result by using the critical point theory induced from the invariant function and invariant linear subspace.

  • This paper presents a speaker identification technique which is one of the basic techniques of the ubiquitous robot companion. Though the conventional mel-frequency cepstral coefficients guarantee high performance of speaker identification in clean condition, the performance is degraded dramatically in noise condition. To overcome this problem, we employed the relative autocorrelation sequence mel-frequency cepstral coefficient which is one of the noise robust features. However, there are two problems in relative autocorrelation sequence mel-frequency cepstral coefficient: 1) the limited information problem. 2) the residual noise problem. In this paper, to deal with these drawbacks, we propose a multi-streaming method for the limited information problem and a hybrid method for the residual noise problem. To evaluate proposed methods, noisy speech is used in which air conditioner noise, classic music, and vacuum noise are artificially added. Through experiments, proposed methods provide better performance of speaker identification than the conventional methods.

  • It is most serious problem which is various occurs from the agricultural concrete structure and off shore concrete structure the problem which it comes to think is deterioration of the concrete which is caused with the corrosion of the reinforcing steel which is caused by with permeation of the water and the sea water. Specially the off shore concrete structure has been deteriorated by the steel reinforcement corrosion. The latex modified concrete(LMC) was adds latex in the plain concrete as the latex has increase the durability of concrete. This study were accomplished to the estimate the diffusion coefficient of LMC, and the time dependent constants of diffusion. The average chloride diffusion coefficient was estimated. Also, the average chloride diffusion coefficient was compared with diffusion coefficient test results of 28 curing days. The test results indicated that the average chloride diffusion coefficient could closely estimate the test results of the diffusion coefficient test results of 28 curing days.

  • This paper investigates the inverse problem of determining an unknown heat radiative coefficient, which is only time-dependent. This is an ill-posed problem, that is, small errors in data may cause huge deviations in determining solution. In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of the problem is established by the second Volterra integral equation theory, and the method of trace-type functional formulation combined with finite difference scheme is studied. One typical numerical example using the proposed method is illustrated and discussed.
