본 논문에서는 고품질의 DTV, HDTV와 인터넷 등의 고속 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coaxial)-CATV망의 상향채널을 SPW(Signal Processing Worksystem)를 사용하여 모델링하고, HFC-CATV망 상향채널의 문제점인 유입잡음의 영향을 전산모의 실험을 통해 분석하였다. 그리고 상향채널의 열악성을 극복할 수 있는 방법으로 트렐리스 부호화 변조(Trellis-Coded Modulation)와 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)을 결합한 OFDM-TC8PSK 시스템을 제안하고 그 성능을 CATV 상향채널 환경에서 전산모의 실험하고 기존의 QPSK 시스템의 성능과 비교 분석하였다.

일반적으로 노즐이나 오리피스로부터 방출되는 초음속 단일 자유제트 유동의 경우, 제트내부에서 발생하는 충격파 시스템이나, 제트경계의 형상 그리고 제트코어의 길이 및 초음속 영역의 길이 등은 종래의 연구로부터 비교적 잘 알려져 있다. 이들 연구에 의하면, 제트의 압력비가 어느 정도 증가하게 되면, 노즐 하류에서 제트내부에는 마하 디스크가 발생하게 되며, 제트유동은 압축과 팽창을 반복하는 구조로 된다. 또 노즐 출구로부터 마하 디스크까지의 거리와 마하 디스크의 직경 등은 노즐의 압력비의 함수로 주어진다고 알려져 있다.

This paper deals with the numerical estimation of the bubble behavior and the partial discharge (PD) initiation voltage on the basis of electric field calculation with the coaxial coil layer-to-cylindrical electrode system for the simulation of high temperature superconducting coils. The theoretical results of bubble behavior and the PD initiation voltages show fairly good agreement with the experimental results.

2유체 동축인젝터(coaxial twin fluid injector)는 액체산소와 액체수소를 추진제로 사용하는 SSME(Space Shuttle Main Engine)이나 유럽의 Arian 5 Vulcain 엔진과 같은 저온추진제 엔진에 널리 사용되고 있다. 추진제를 미립화 시키는 장치로서 사용하는 다른 여러 형태의 인젝터에 비교할 때 저속의 액체산화제 주위에 고속의 가스연료가 분사됨으로서 발생되는 전단력에 의해 추진제가 미립화되는 특징을 가지며, 이러한 메카니즘은 매우 복잡하여 아직까지 정확히 규명되지 못하고 있는 실정이다.

A multivariable equalizer is designed which compensates transmission distortion for coaxial transmission line. The characteristic transfer function with bilateral parameter domain is approximated using the expansion method of orthonormal function and Gram Schmidt orthogonal function, but the parameter domain of approximated function is limited to unilateral. To solve that problem, Bode type transfer function is used to give bilateral variable characteristic to approximated function. The multivariable equalizer in this paper can be substituted for the current equalizer which consist of a fixed equalizer and a variable equalizer.

In this paper, frequency synthesizer that can be used in IMT-2000 was designed and fabricated using dual loop PLL(Phase Locked Loop). For improving phase noise characteristic Voltage Controlled Oscillator was fabricated using coaxial resonator and eliminated frequency divider using SPD as phase detector and increased open loop gain. Fabricated frequency synthesizer had 1.82㎓ center frequency, 160MHz tuning range and -119.73㏈c/Hz low phase noise characteristic.

Complex permittivities of human head simulating liquids were measured by a sample holder of terminated slotted coaxial line with a movable probe at mobile communication frequencies. The validity of the liquid measurement system was checked by experiments with the reference liquids. Liquids of ingredients for human brain suggested in IEEE draft and those made by the authors were measured by this slotted line system.

An insulated monopole antenna having a balun and a cap at the coaxial feeder and the monopole end, respectively, may be designed to have a well-confined uniform heating Pattern as well as the satisfactory impedance matching at the input port of the antenna. Measurements by using the infra red camera in the biologically equivalent tissue phantom shows that the highest temperature is 46 degree in centigrade at the 20 watts input Power for 2 minutes and input reflection less than -30 dB at 2450 MHz.

Since power failures in high-speed communication network, especially in HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coaxial cable) network are critical, microcontroller-based UPS(Uninterrupted Power Supply) are commonly used in the network. Hardware and software of UPS management system is designed and implemented to monitor and control UPS status to supply electric power to ONU and TBA in the HFC network. The result of laboratory tests and field tess of this system shows the scan rate to be 1 to 10 minutes to sufficiently monitor the status of UPS in the network.
