  • This paper proposes an algorithm to improve total network lifetime for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) application such as environmental condition monitoring systems based on LEACH protocol. Firstly, the algorithm had equal number of nodes allocated to each cluster at cluster set-up phase where it abided by LEACH protocol. Secondly, at cluster set-up phase, each node was determined the order to be cluster header of the cluster which it had joined. After then, the role of a cluster head delivers to the next node according to determined order when the cluster head has received certain number of packets. With above method energy consumption of each node made equal and overall network lifetime was increased. Simulation results shows that overall network lifetime of proposed algorithm was increased two times than that of LEACH and total energy consumption was one forth of that of LEACH protocol.

  • We present ultraviolet (UV) properties of dwarf galaxies in the Ursa Major cluster comparing with those in the Virgo cluster. We have constructed SDSS DR7/GALEX GR5 matched optical/UV catalog for dwarf galaxies with various morphologies in these two clusters. Membership of galaxies belonging to the Ursa Major cluster was made by hierarchical grouping method using SDSS spectroscopic data. We classified morphologies of dwarf galaxies using the combination of visual inspection of the images and spectral features returned from SDSS data. In contrast to the case of the Virgo cluster, majority of dwarf galaxies in the Ursa Major cluster lies in the blue cloud of the UV color-magnitude relations (CMRs) implying strong recent or on-going star formation. We discuss the cluster environment on the star formation history and evolution of dwarf galaxies.

  • We propose two estimating procedures to analyze clustered interval-censored data with an informative cluster size based on a marginal model and investigate their asymptotic properties. One is an extension of Cong et al. (2007) to interval-censored data and the other uses the within-cluster resampling method proposed by Hoffman et al. (2001). Simulation results imply that the proposed estimators have a better performance in terms of bias and coverage rate of true value than an estimator with no adjustment of informative cluster size when the cluster size is related with survival time. Finally, they are applied to lymphatic filariasis data adopted from Williamson et al. (2008).

  • In this paper, a cluster-based routing protocol in distributed sensor network is proposed, which enable the balanced energy consumption in the sensor nodes densely deployed in the sensor fields. This routing protocol is implemented based on clusters with hierarchical scheme. The clusters are formed by the closely located sensor nodes. A cluster node with maximum residual energy in the cluster, can be selected as cluster head node. In routing, one of the nodes in the intersection area between two clusters is selected as a relay-node and this method can extend the lifetime of all the sensor nodes in view of the balanced consumption of communication energy.

  • We present the results from a spectroscopic survey of the nearby galaxy cluster Abell 2107 at z=0.04 that has been known as a rotating cluster. By combining 978 new redshifts from the MMT/Hectospec observations with the data in the literature, we construct a large sample of 1968 galaxies with measured redshifts at R<60', which results in high (80%) and spatially uniform completeness at $m_{r,Petro,0}<19.1$. We use this sample to study the global rotation of the cluster and its connection to the large-scale structures in the universe. We first apply the caustic method to the sample and identify 285 member galaxies in Abell 2107 at R<60'. We then measure the rotation amplitude and the position angle of rotation axis. The member galaxies show strong global rotation at R<20' ($V/{\sigma}{\sim}0.60-0.70$) with a significance of >3.8 ${\sigma}$, which is confirmed by two independent methods. The rotation becomes weaker in outer regions. We find at least four filamentary structures at $R<30h^{-1}Mpc$ smoothly connected to the cluster galaxies, which can suggest that the global rotation of the cluster is induced by the inflow of galaxies from the surrounding large-scale structures in the universe.

  • The interaction between metal molecules and liquid metal molecules was modeled in the molecular scale and simulated by the molecular dynamics method in order to understand behaviors of the cluster on metallic surface in collision process. Lennard-Jones potential had been used as intermolecular potential, and only attraction 때 d repulsion had been used for the behavior of the cluster on the metal surface. As results, the behavior of the cluster was so much influenced by the cluster of liquid metal temperature and function of molecules forces, such as attraction and repulsion, in the collision progress. These results of simulation will be the foundation for the micro fabrication manufacturing by using spray application technology.

  • This paper introduces balancing energy and memory consumption for lifetime increase of wireless sensor network. In cluster-based wireless sensor network, sensor nodes adjacent of cluster heads have a tendency to deplete their own battery energy and cluster heads occupy memory space significantly. If the nodes close to region where events occur frequently consume their energy and memory fully, network might be destroyed even though most of nodes are still alive. Therefore, it needs to balance network energy and memory with consideration of event occurrence probability so that network lifetime is increased. We show a method of balancing wireless sensor network energy and memory to organize cluster groups and elect cluster heads in terms of event occurrence probability.

  • UBVI CCD photometry of open cluster NGC 2324 is presented. C-M diagrams of this cluster show well-defined main sequence with a red giant clump centered at B - V =1.05, V =13.45. We derived the major cluster characteristics; E(B - V)=0.17$\pm$0.12 from color-color diagram and mean color of red giant clump stars, (m - M)o=13.1$\pm$0.1 from zero age main sequence fitting, and [Fe/H]$\~$-0.32 from comparison the theoretical model developed by Bertelli et al. (1994) to the observed C-M diagrams. We estimate the age of NGC 2324 to be log t$\~$8.8 by applying isochrone fitting and morphological age index method.

  • On the cluster system, the parallel code of rigid-plastic FEM has been developed. The cluster system, Simforge, has 15 processors and the total memory is 4.5GBytes. In the developed parallel code, the distributed data of the column-wise partitioned stiffness are stored as the compressed row storage and the diagonal preconditioned conjugate gradient solver is applied. The analysis of block upsetting is performed with the parallel code on Simforge cluster system. In this paper, the analysis results are compared and discussed.

  • Root cluster section culture, showing high efficient Protocorm-like body (PLB) formation capacity, were established in Doritaenopsis hybrids. Three types of root were obtained from excised shoots in 1/2MS medium containing different concentrations of NAA; \circled1normal roots, \circled2multiple roots and \circled3abnormal root clusters. Those were placed on 1/2MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L thidiazuron for PLB regeneration. PLB regeneration rate was greater in root cluster section cultures (77.8%) compare to normal root tip cultures(30%). Number of PLBs regenerated from root cluster sections were counted over 11 per explant (5.3 per normal root tip).High frequency of PLB regeneration was achieved in root cluster section culture. This result can be used as an efficient method for clonal proliferation of Doritaenopsis hybrids.
