  • Word similarity is often measured to enhance system performance in the information retrieval field and other related areas. This paper reports on an experimental comparison of values for word similarity measures that were computed based on 50 intentionally selected words from a Reuters corpus. There were three targets, including (1) co-occurrence-based similarity measures (for which a co-occurrence frequency is counted as the number of documents or sentences), (2) context-based distributional similarity measures obtained from a latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA), nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF), and Word2Vec algorithm, and (3) similarity measures computed from the tf-idf weights of each word according to a vector space model (VSM). Here, a Pearson correlation coefficient for a pair of VSM-based similarity measures and co-occurrence-based similarity measures according to the number of documents was highest. Group-average agglomerative hierarchical clustering was also applied to similarity matrices computed by individual measures. An evaluation of the cluster sets according to an answer set revealed that VSM- and LDA-based similarity measures performed best.

  • MEMS technology applying to the sensors and micro-electro devices is complete system. These microsystems are made by variable processes. Especially, the mentallization process has very important functions to transfer the power operating the sensor and signal induced from sensor part. But in the structures of MEMS the local stress concentration and deformation are often yielded by an irregular geometrical shape and different constraint. Therefore, this paper studies the effect of supporting type and thickness ratio about thin film of the substrate on the residual stress variation when the thermal loads is applied to the multi-layer thin film fabricated by metallization process. Specimens were made from several materials such as Al, Au and Cu. Then, uniform thermal load was applied, repeatedly. The residual stress was measured by FE Analysis and nano-indentation method using AFM. Generally, the specimen made of Al induced the larger residual stress than that of made of other materials. Specimen made of Cu and Au having the low thermal expansion coefficient induces the minimum residual stress. Similarly, the lowest indentation length was measured by nano-indentation method in the Si/Au/Cu specimen. Particularly, clusters are created in the specimen made of Cu by thermal load and the indentation length became increasingly large by cluster formation.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial characteristics of Namgang-Dam watershed for a Total Maximum Daily Loads(TMDL). Three TMDL target sites, Gyeonghogang1, 2, Namgang-Dam2, are located within Namgang-Dam watershed. Under the current criterion for TMDLs, 3-year arithmetic mean BOD concentration of the target sites should not exceed the target concentration for 2 consecutive years. Two and three times of violation were observed for Gyenghogang2 and Namgang-Dam2 sites while no violation was found for Gyeonghogang1 site. However, no violation was found since 1999 for all three sites. Correlation between each 12 stations within the watershed were analyzed and cluster analysis was conducted to figure out the spatial characteristics of the watershed. Correlation coefficient between Gyonghogang1 and 2 was high (0.758) while the coefficients between lake station (Namgang-Dam2) and stream stations (Gyonghogang1 and 2) were very low. Dendrogram indicated that all of three Namgang-Dam stations were very close and Gyenghogang1, 2 stations were also close.

  • Weighted network link prediction is a challenge issue in complex network analysis. Unsupervised methods based on local structure are widely used to handle the predictive task. However, the results are still far from satisfied as major literatures neglect two important points: common neighbors produce different influence on potential links; weighted values associated with links in local structure are also different. In this paper, we adapt an effective link prediction model-local naive Bayes model into a weighted scenario to address this issue. Correspondingly, we propose a weighted local naive Bayes (WLNB) probabilistic link prediction framework. The main contribution here is that a weighted cluster coefficient has been incorporated, allowing our model to inference the weighted contribution in the predicting stage. In addition, WLNB can extensively be applied to several classic similarity metrics. We evaluate WLNB on different kinds of real-world weighted datasets. Experimental results show that our proposed approach performs better (by AUC and Prec) than several alternative methods for link prediction in weighted complex networks.

  • Convective/stratiform radar echo classification schemes by Steiner et al. (1995) and Biggerstaff and Listemaa (2000) are examined on a monsoonal front during the summer monsoon-Changma period, which is organized as a cloud cluster with mesoscale convective complex. Target radar is S-band with wavelength of 10cm, spatial resolution of 1km, elevation angle interval of 0.5-1.0 degree, and minimum elevation angle of 0.19 degree at Jindo over the Korean Peninsula. For verification of rainfall amount retrieved from the echo classification, ground-based rain gauge observations (Automatic Weather Stations) are examined, converting the radar echo grid data to the station values using the inverse distance weighted method. Improvement from the echo classification is evaluated based on the correlation coefficient and the scattered diagram. Additionally, an optimal use method was designed to produce combined rainfalls from the radar echo and Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Precipitation Radar (TRMM/PR) data. Optimal values for the radar rain and TRMM/PR rain are inversely weighted according to the error variance statistics for each single station. It is noted how the rainfall distribution during the summer monsoon frontal system is improved from the classification of convective/stratiform echo and the use of the optimal use technique.

  • This research describes quantitative effects of initial dispersion conditions upon the dispersion randomness of Magnus rotor bomblets. Ratios of the missile spin rate to the missile velocity, a, flight path angles, ${\gamma}$ and altitudes, h, were changed to investigate their effects on dispersion randomness. Dispersion was analyzed through calculation of 6 degree of freedom motion equation with aerodynamic coefficients from wind tunnel experiments. In order to analyze the randomness, regression analysis is adopted to calculate the coefficient of determination. The optimized ratio of the missile spin rate to the missile velocity and flight path angle were obtained and the dispersion altitudes had more effect on the dispersion diameter and had less effect on dispersion than other parameters.

  • Phthalates are animal carcinogens. Potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP), which has the least complicated structure among phthalates, is used for the analysis of total organic carbon and formaldehyde. However, its toxicity has not been confirmed. A 24-hour acute toxicity test was performed using Daphnia magna, a water flea used to evaluate aquatic toxicity owing to its high sensitivity. The lowest observed effect concentration of KHP was found to be 240 mg/L. The effects of phosphorus, nitrogen, and Cr(6+), which are able to be discharged along with KHP, were also confirmed using tests. At 240 mg/L KHP, toxicity increased as phosphorus, nitrogen, and Cr(6+) increased. In addition, tests were performed to confirm the half maximal effective concentration of KHP. Through 10 test repetitions, the average ecotoxicity value was found to be 0.3, the average half maximal effective concentration was 327.75 mg/L, and the coefficient of variation (%) was 3.16%; because the latter value is lower than 25%, which is what is generally suggested for the water pollution standard method, the reproducibility of the tests is sufficient to replace the existing standard reference toxicity test that uses potassium dichromate. In addition, the half maximum effective concentration of potassium hydrogen phthalate is approximately 218 times more than that of potassium dichromate; therefore, toxicity is relatively low. In conclusion, KHP is a feasible alternative to the highly toxic potassium dichromate for performing the standard reference toxicity test.

  • Could blood type provide a key to wellness and even affect our personality? The theory that blood type is linked to personality (and other mental and physical qualities) is popular mainly in Japan, though it has carried over to Taiwan and South Korea. The present study is the result of a scientific research in which the relationship between two important variables, namely blood group a nd group participation, are determined in the research framework. Based on some collected data from manufacturing firms which are accepted firms in Tehran Stock Exchange, and through cluster sampling a sample was selected. 380 questionnaires were distributed to the personnel of production line, of the firms then the reliability and validity of the questionnaires through independence test and average ratio comparison of the two population were examined, and through Pearson's chi-square formula, the relationship between blood group (independent variable) and group participation (dependent variable) were tested, then through Schuprow coefficient, the prioritization of blood groups over group participation was identified and the following results were obtained: people group participation is affected by their personality features which is derived from their temperament, mood, and characteristics. The study also showed that people blood groups has an effect on their group cooperation, and among blood groups, blood group A has the greatest tendency to group participation and then blood group O, AB, B are prioritized respectively.
