This study presents the results of conservation treatment and research on a folding screen with embroidered classical Chinese characters "壽" (su) for longevity and "福" (bok) for good fortune in various scripts. The project was conducted as part of the program for supporting overseas Korean galleries in 2016. The present mounting of this ten-panel folding screen was difficult to identify as it had previously been remounted in a modern style. However, clues to the original mounting were discovered during the conservation process. It was revealed that the folding screen was decorated with colors frequently used in Joseon-period, such as teal silk at the top and bottom of each panel and a violet frame. These features provided clues to the original mounting of the folding screen, of which only a few elements have survived. Since this study analyzes only case of one folding screen, further research is required to reveal the method of mounting folding screens applied during this same period.

This paper proposes a method of automatically identifying sentence types in Korean and improving naturalness in sign language generation and speech synthesis using the identified sentence type information. In Korean, sentences are usually categorized into five types: declarative, imperative, propositive, interrogative, and exclamatory. However, it is also known that these types are quite ambiguous to identify in dialogues. In this paper, we present additional morphological and syntactic clues for the sentence type and propose a rule-based procedure for identifying the sentence type using these clues. The experimental results show that our method gives a reasonable performance. We also describe how the sentence type is used to generate non-manual signals in Korean-Korean sign language translation and appropriate intonation in Korean speech synthesis. Since the method of using sentence type information in speech synthesis and sign language generation is not much studied previously, it is anticipated that our method will contribute to research on generating more natural speech and sign language expressions.

This study aims to investigate the problem recognition and clue capture processes of the observation stage in a geological field trip using abductive inquiry. To this end, eight outdoor geological programs were developed in the order of diagnostic evaluation, outdoor geological fieldwork, and review. Six middle-school students participated in these programs The geological field trip was conducted twice, followed by data provision, observation, rule generation, hypothesis generation, and final hypothesis presentation. Outdoor geological fieldwork recordings and student activity sheets were collected and analyzed qualitatively. From these data, three aspects of student observations emerged during the geological fieldwork: The characteristics of each pattern were subdivided into the geological importance of the clues, attention, type of clues, observation characteristics (attention factor), clue utilization, and clue deletion. Here, by combining these results, we propose educational applications that correspond to each aspect.

To examine the taxonomic position and affinities of Isopyrum mandshuricum (Ranunculaceae) and related taxa, genetic analysis were carried out on the basis of isozyme patterns and ITS sequences. Molecular data, both isozyme patterns and ITS sequences suggest that I. mandshuricum is closely related to Enemion raddeanum than to Semiaquilegia adoxoides. The estimation of genetic identities by isozyme analysis reveals that I. manshuricum is genetically distant from E. raddeanum. The phylogenetic tree based on molecular data is rather congruent with the phenogram based on quantitative morphological characteristics, but not consistent with one based on qualitative morphological characteristics. Incongruencies between molecular and qualitative morphological data provide clues to re-evaluate several morphological features.

The purpose of this study is to develop the fashion coordination course. The first step of this study is to set up the concept of fashion coordination. And the second step is to organize the fashion coordination course depending on the concept of fashion coordination. The concept of the fashion coordination is as foltowed: The goal of the fashion coordinapion is 'making the image' The image in this study is constituted of several concepts, which are perception/conition/impression, bojective/person perception, external/internal content, and simple/complex level. The elements of fashion coordination are the person, the clothing and the accessory. The method of making the image with elements is to harmonize the symbolic aspect of elements, and the beauty aspect of elements too. The fashion coordination course is organized into theory part and practice part. The theory part is composed of theories of 'making the image', the elements, the harmony depending on the concept of fashion coordination. The practice part is composed of exercises to make the image depending on the theory, especially the important point of exercise is Listing the clues that make the image.

Children have become the target of intense and specialized food advertising efforts. This study examines the content of TV food advertising and discussed possible concerns from the perspective of children. A total of 102 ads were collected from two cable networks aimed at children. Most of the food ads used emotional appeals and did not provide information clues such as nutrition values. Ads with high sales pressure and celebrity endorsements appeared frequently and the ads for snack foods and high-carbohydrate bakery products were dominant. Understanding food ads can be a significant indicator to establish the orientation of consumer ad education and build educational programs appropriate for children. The issue that appears conspicuous in child targeted advertising and marketing is the childhood obesity and food advertising relation; subsequently, there is a need to evolve advertising that targets children into a positive educational information source.

Fungi are of particular interest due to their capacity to produce an extensive array of secondary metabolites. While many secondary metabolites have no known functions to the producing fungal organisms, these metabolites have tremendous importance to humans with beneficial (e.g., antibiotics) or detrimental (e.g., mycotoxins) properties. In this study, two important filamentous fungi, Fusarium verticillioides and Mycosphaerella graminicola were selected as target species and the genes regulatory functions on the biosynthesis of secondary metabolisms were studied. Functional genomics including forward and reverse genetics, and proteomics were utilized to better understand the complex secondary metabolism regulations in both F. verticillioides and M. graminicola. Identified genes in either F. verticillioides or M. graminicola background were CPP1 (a putative protein phosphatase gene), GAC1 (encoding a GTPase activating protein), MCC1(encoding c-type cyclin), and the velvet gene, MVE1. Our data suggest that there are diverse regulatory genes on fungal secondary metabolites with distinct or overlapping functional roles.

There could be significant numbers of isolated stellar mass black holes in our Galaxy. The detection of these black holes will provide important clues on the origin of supermassive black holes. Interstellar gas will be accreted to these isolated black holes in nearly spherical flow. The gas and the interstellar magnetic field will be compressed and emit bremsstrahlung and magnetic bremsstrahlung. We calculate the density, temperature, magnetic field of the accretion flow onto a 10 solar mass black hole as well as its radiative emission; special attention is given to cyclotron radiation and synchrotron radiation, which covers from microwave to X-ray. We consider the possibility to detect these radiation from isolated Galactic black holes with current instruments and surveys.

The purpose of this paper is to provide the unbalanced magnetic force and vibration mode comparison between two large interior permanent magnet machines(IPM) with different pole-slot combination considering stator and rotor eccentricity. Due to the punching tolerance, the mixed eccentricity of air-gap is inevitable. It will generate the asymmetric magnetic flux density in air-gap, which makes the unbalanced magnetic pull and vibration. The study is focused on the unbalanced magnetic force and their harmonic components according to eccentricity conditions such as static, dynamic and mixed. When the high vibration is produced especially resonance, the obtained results provide clues what eccentricity condition occurs in the machine.

The rapid increase in apartments of Korea brought about overall changes in the life style, and definitely played the biggest role to convert into western style. Since 1960, furniture has been changed for 50 years along with apartments, but furniture companies and the academic world had insufficient historical materials and lack of study. In addition, considering the changing trend according to residents' life style, the data of furniture industries should be collected to study every year or in 5 years at least. Therefore, this study aims to provide basic data that gives historical materials or design clues based on recent AV equipment-oriented storage furniture in the living room that prioritized design in public space. Accordingly, the study looked into the periodical trends of Korean furniture industries, analyzed 10 furniture companies in Korea which is actively doing business as the sample and arranged key points of periodical changes of furniture in the table, and suggested the conclusion according to the image map, style, color, material, and function.
