The purpose of this study was to investigate problems of design, fitness, suitability for movement, and comfort in current Korean military tank driver's clothing through analysis of actual wearing condition by questionnaire and field evaluation and. to provide basic data for developing a improved design of Korean military tank driver's clothing. The survey was done for 477 military tank driver and the field evaluation was also done for evaluation. The overall satisfaction for design of military tank driver's clothing(3.25) was higher than that for the easiness in wearing and taking off(2.76). The military tank drivers evaluated that current coverall type of clothing is more suitable than two-piece type of clothing. The overall satisfaction for fitness of clothing was as a whole low(2.82~3.09), Especially, the satisfaction for fitness of from front and back rise length was the lowest one. In the satisfaction for clothing materials, the satisfaction for the breathability of material was the lowest, followed by clothing insulation and air permeability. The satisfaction for movement was low in bending waist and raising forward and aside. The part which surveyors think most dissatisfactory was also front and back rise length. The frequency in use of pocket was the highest in chest pocket, followed by waist and pants pockets. The satisfaction for opening easiness of hips opening part was very low(2.64).
To access the appropriate height of sleeve cap which is required for the basic sleeve pattern according to arm movements, plaster gypsum experiment was performed. Arm movements were 5types ($0^{\circ},\;45^{\circ},\;90^{\circ},\;135^{\circ},\;180^{\circ}$) to the vertical directions in the front. The appropriateness of the pattern was analyzed by measuring clothing pressure. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Increasing the movement angle, sleeve width increased but height of sleeve cap and armhole girth decreased. 2. Increasing the movement angle, the acromion moved to the front part of bodice. 3. On the basis of the result of the height of sleeve cap, the $\frac{AH}{4} +2.5cm$ sleeve basic 4 pattern is suitable for the direction $M_1(0^{\circ}),\;M_2(45^{\circ})$, and the $\frac{AH}{5}$sleeve basic pattern is suitable for the direction $M_3(90^{\circ}),\;M_4(135^{\circ})$, and $M_5(180^{\circ})$. 4. As the movement angle and height of sleevecap increased, the part which receive high pressure increased and the difference between the hightest and the lowest clothing pressure increased. 5. By the variation of movement angle and height of sleevecap, clothing pressure of upperarm was affected more than that of shoulder blade. 6. The clothing pressure of upperarm and shoulder blades were more affected by the height of sleeve cap than the ease of breast area. 7. Considering the clothing pressure of various arm movement, the most appropriate height of sleeve cap for $M_1(0^{\circ}),\;M_2(45^{\circ})$ positions was to use the $\frac{AH}{4}$+2.5cm, and for $M_3(90^{\circ}),\;M_4(135^{\circ})$, and $M_5(180^{\circ})$, was $\frac{AH}{5}$.
This study aimed to examine the appearance of heated clothing in relation to fashion trends by analyzing constructive components of clothing using product images and actual products. A total of 91 images of domestic and foreign heated clothing products were collected, and a product analysis conducted with six parameters of item classification, namely, concept and image, silhouette, color, number of heating elements, and heating parts. In addition, an in-depth analysis was carried out with 11 products among them, while focusing on further detailed components of the design and heating system. As a result, the overall exterior design of domestic products has been changed from outdoor clothing to daily clothing reflecting the current design trend. Compared with domestic products, foreign products showed a diverse assortment and a greater number of heating regions per individual item of clothing. The current heating system commonly consists of a heating element, power source, controller board, and wires, although the existence and type of switches differed from product to product. To develop a more efficiently heated clothing to expand the market, the design, ease of use, safety, consumer preference, heating functionality, and durability should be considered. Along with design recommendations for future heated clothing, this study also provides a practical guide to the technical aspects of the design of the components of heated clothing.
The purpose of this study was to examine clothing purchase behavior of sports participants based on outdoor sports types and sports participation motivation. The research was conducted with the use of a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 703 respondents between the ages of 25 and 55 participated in the research through an internet survey. Motivation for participation in particular sports was comprised of four factors: impress others, mental rejuvenation, social interaction, and health maintenance/improvement. Perceived benefits of clothing choice were categorized into three factors: brand/fashion pursuit, positive image pursuit, and practicality pursuit. Outdoor sports activities was categorized into six types, climbing, jogging, cycling, fishing, golf, and others including ball games. Each sports group presented differences in demographics, sports motivation factors, and benefit factors. Four segments were identified based on sports participation motivation: active group, social group, health and revitalization group, and inactive group. The active group considered three clothing benefits and 14 evaluative criteria as being the most important among the four segments, indicating the major target market for outdoor sportswear brands. On the other hand, the members of inactive group showed passive attitudes toward clothing purchasing behaviors. This study discusses the results of this research within the context of the managerial implication for outdoor sports marketers.
This study aims to develop the hospital clothing for dementia patient, which can bring them higher quality of life by giving them psychological and emotional satisfaction. As for the research method and contents, the authors searched the characteristics of aging society and dementia patient, mainly concentering on the related researches and publications. In addition, the characteristics of current domestic clothes design trend for dementia patient and design preference were studied by looking into previous studies. Also, on the characteristics of overseas design was examed by looking into sites on dementia, actual clothes and related catalogues. The development and evaluation of the design of clothes for dementia patient was conducted and which was based on the above researches. Then, the patients hospital clothing was designed and made. And also the discussion was followed with related field experts such as medical doctor and nurses, carer-givers, patient clothing manufacturers and professors of clothing textiles. Finally the authors designed and manufactured six patient clothes including one for male, one for female, two for common use in hospital, one for disable male dementia and one for disable female dementia. The developted clothes got high marks on beauty and symbolism in the evaluation by the experts. The design development of dementia patient clothes in this research will help the dementia patients' psychological comfortness and social protection.
The purpose of this study was to identify Chinese university women's appearance management characteristics and clothing purchasing behavior. A self-administered questionnaire was used. Research period was 15th - 30th March. Frequencies, percent, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, chi-square test were done. The results of study were: 1. The factors of appearance management characteristics were food management, skin care, weight control & tooth correction, nail & hair care, and use of identity kits. The factors of clothing selection criteria were outlook & appropriateness, management & service, fashion & brand, and individuality & price, and factors of information resources were marketer oriented & neutral and consumer oriented & store. 2. Chinese university women were segmented into positive appearance management group, food & skin management group, nail care & identity kits using group, and appearance management stagnated group. Positive appearance management group selected their clothing to pursuit individuality & relaxation, fashion, and conformity, considered fashion or brands more, used various information sources. Food & skin management group purchased their clothing for conformity. Nail care & identity kits using group considered management & service of clothing more, utilized consumer oriented & store information more. 3. Positive appearance management group were younger, and spent more pocket money and for their appearances. Food & skin management group were older, but nail care & identity kits using group were older. Appearance stagnated group spent less pocket money and appearance management.
This study was accomplished to investigate the preference of clothing materials and the clothing demand performance for underwear and everyday dress of atopic patients. As this study was the research study by a use of a questionnaire, the finally total 987 copies of the collected questionnaires were used to analyze the data. SPSS was used for the statistical analysis of data. To analyze the data, frequency analysis, percentage, $X^2$-test, reliability analysis, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple comparisons were used. The results obtained are as follows. In factor analysis for clothing materials and the demand performance which atopic patients favor, the preference factors for underwear materials were classified as pliability/a sense of weight, a sense of cold and warmth, tactility, and elasticity. Those for everyday wear were classified as pliability/surface roughness, a sense of cold and warmth, a sense of weight, and elasticity. And the demand performance factors for underwears were classified as thermophysiology, care convenience, and skin contact. Those for everyday wear were classified as comfortableness and care convenience. In the difference analysis for the preference and the demand performance, Both everyday wear and underwear showed a significant difference for the preference and the demand performance according to gender, age, income, education level, and occupation.
Middle and High school students are highly interested in appearance and clothing and they use it as a method of expressing their personality and freedom. We examined clothing attitudes and school uniform attitude of the students and analyzed relationship between them by the survey of 446 middle and high school students living in Seoul. First, High school students have more positive attitudes towards school uniform than middle school students have. High school students prefer school uniform and wear more frequently than middle school students do. Second, the group of economic efficiency and individuality have more positive attitudes and prefer the school uniform than group of practicality, fashion and conformity have. The group of fashion and economic efficiency show the preference of famous brand. Based on these results, we understand the attitudes of middle and high school student towards school uniform with reference to the clothing attitudes. Therefore, we need to accept demand of students in producing school uniform.
The household behavior of food, clothing, and shelter in Seoul area was analyzed to determine characteristics of consumer behavior in the industrial society. Questionaires were administered to 1095 housewives to find out the degrees and types of household labor substituted by the commodities and their buying behavior. Attitudes and values concerning clothing and housing were also measured. The results of the study indicated that the degree of labor substitution by commodities in clothing related area were high, while traditional food items were relatively low. Household labors related to clothing and housing maintenance also showed increased tendency to be substituted by the commercial services. The age and educational level of housewife, and household income were found to be the influencing factors to accelerated labor substitution, which is expected to increase as the industrialization progresses. Buying behavior varied in store selection and information sources according to commodities. Marketer dominated information sources according to commodities. Marketer dominated information sources were used for foods and clothing commodities, while interpersonal information sources were used for services. Shortened clothing life cycles, and rental housing were also found indicating consumer's change in housing concept from possession to use. Suggestion were made to consumers, industries, and government based on the results from the study.
History confirms that the eastern style was reflected in various parts of the western culture including clothing. In this paper we show some evidence that the influence of India on the French clothing during the neo-classical period(1789-1820) was substantial. Among others, the use of muslin, kashmir shawl and banyan during the period is greatly emphasized. The muslin imported from India was used as the textile for the chemise mown, a typical clothing during the period. Indian muslin was used, because it was of better quality compared to the muslin manufactured in England and France and it was not expensive. The kashmir shawl imported from kashmir in India was also a popular item in Europe not only because it matched well with simple color of chemise gown, but because it expressed the tone of Greek and Roman. Banyan which was most popular clothing worn by men in 18th century Europe originally came from India, which goes back to the Kaftan clothing in the Central Asia. Banyan was an informal home style clothing different from the conventional tight men's wear. It is true that the muslin, kashmir shawl, and banyan also became fashion items throughout the 19th and 20th century to the English and other European people. However, we limited our attention to the influence of India on France because we think the French Revolution and Napoleon's conquest of Egypt are far more important factors when considering the influence of Indian culture on Europe.
