The Korean Society of Preventive Medicine has undergone continuous development, after overcoming the difficult early years, in the 59 years since its establishment in 1947. It has repeatedly upgraded its quality and quantity of research with the first journal edition in 1968 and the continuous increase in publication numbers, scientific articles, joint research projects, intra-field exchanges and participation in various international scientific activities. In the future, we should gather a more extensive collection of opinions regarding the introduction of clinical preventive medicine specialists and prepare for the establishment of a training program for clinical specialists into a preventive medicine residency course. Moreover, we should raise interest in the importance of protecting individual information and maintaining medicine ethics. It's impossible to develop academic activities without cooperation. We need such cooperation with basic medical approaches across a wide range of fields. Furthermore, we should strengthen our cooperation with aspects of clinical and drug epidemiology in many fields including public health, statistics, and dietetics. Finally, we should raise the level of international cooperation with many countries, including North Korea, to prevent diseases and promote health. Preventive medicine is a science in which practice is as important as theory. We must aim to nurture preventive medicine specialists who practice in many areas of society with the goal of preventing diseases, promoting health, improving fertility, and securing healthy elderly life for individuals and the entire population. To this end, we will endeavor to promote both theoretical and practical components of academic development.

The purpose of this study was to analysis a Korean version of Satisfaction with Simulation Experience(SSE) Scale by paramedic students. Total number of 111 students majoring in the EMT-paramedic education area have taken part in the survey after completing the professional cardiac resuscitation simulative training, using the standardized simulation satisfaction evaluation method (SSE scale). Through the scale, one's preference, necessity, ACLS theory grade, and satisfaction rate per year regarding the training were measured. To analyze one's preference, necessity, ACLS theory grade, and satisfaction rate per year in regards to the training, one-way ANOVA was used. The result reveals that the overall satisfaction rate was generally quite high. When one's preference and necessity rate is high, the satisfaction rate also seems to increase. The result indicates that the simulation training will enhance the students' clinical skill, patient evaluation, and treatment capability as well as one's field adaptation skill at the time of an emergency occurrence. Eventually, training through the ACLS simulation will be used in the future for the benefit of encouraging students from emergency rescue to adapt to the site of an emergency. Therefore, such an education method should be maintained and further developed.

This study examined the effects of simulation training for nursing students who completed one year of basic nursing education. The study focused on effects of simulation training exercises on areas including self-resilience, self-efficacy, and satisfaction during the course of study. The raw experimental study of a single group was a pre-post design. The general characteristics and ego resilience were measured to analyze the effects of simulated training, self-efficacy, a major pre-acquisition and satisfaction. The improvements of the self-resilience (t=-7.38,p<.001) and self-efficacy (t=-4.93,p<.001), Major satisfaction (t=-5.28,p<.001) were statistically significant. Therefore, the simulation training has a positive effect on nursing students in terms of the self-efficacy, major satisfaction. The purpose of this research is significant in that it is presented before the nursing college students begin clinical practice as the starting time of simulation training.
Objectives : This study analyzed the concordance between student self-assessment and peer-evaluation in a role play using the Clinical Performance Examination (CPX) scenario developed based on Korean medical syndrome differentiation. Methods : The subjects of this study are first-year-students majoring in Korean Medicine. The role play based on clinical case was performed in the class of Korean Medicine Classics. Feedback on clinical skill competency got through student self-assessment and peer-evaluation, and this study was compared and analyzed of result. Results : A simple comparison of the results of self-assessment and peer-evaluation in the evaluation results of clinical skill competency may appear to be consistent. However, it was not statistically significant. It is necessary to enhance the discriminative ability in the evaluation of clinical skill competency. It will be possible to improve a bit by relatively increasing the weight of the scores on the items that students expect to respond differently among the evaluation items. In addition, in order to dramatically improve the systemicity and reliability of the evaluation of clinical skill competency itself, it is necessary to introduce the Introduction to Clinical Traditional Korean Medicine (ICTKM) course. Conclusions : Student's self-assessment and peer-evaluation as feedback on clinical skill competency are suitable for the purpose of education and training. However, the reliability of the evaluation was not statistically significant.
Purpose : This descriptive research study aimed to identify the factors influencing nursing students' empathy and gender role identity and their effect on communication competence. Methods : Participants were 183 senior nursing students who had completed a clinical practice and simulation-based practical training course. Using the IBM SPSS/WIN 21.0 program, general characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent variables were compared with t-tests and 𝑥2 tests, and influencing factors on each variable and communication underwent multiple linear regression analysis. Results : Communication competence showed significant correlations with empathy (r=.40, p<.001), gender role identity (r=.53, p<.001), major satisfaction (r=.18, p=.013), and peer relationships (r=.24, p<.001). When gender was entered as a covariate, empathy (t=4.41, p<.001) and gender role identity (t=6.97, p<.001) were identified as predictors affecting communication competence with 36% explanation power (R2=.36, p<.001). Conclusion : The findings of this study suggest that course subjects considering the gender identities of students should be developed through various programs to establish students' identity as nurses and improve their empathy and communication.

In this paper, we propose the importance of character education in nursing curriculum. It is quite difficult to define what character is. It is solely because a person's character is very abstract yet comprehensive at the same time. Nevertheless, the East defines character as someone's personality that he or she is naturally born with. Someone's character contains two elements: what he or she was born with, a nature, and how the person has and is to become. The nature is difficult to change through education since one is born with such disposition. However, another half of one's character can be educated to be reformed and developed in the right manner. And this specific education is called character education. Today in Korea, education to cultivate one's character has become a cause celebre, especially when evaluating a nursing department's certification. To be a good nurse, one must not only be skillful but also has the ability to help others or make ethical and clinical judgments. Yet, most nursing departments in Korea out there are overwhelmingly focused on the curriculum related to obtaining licenses and to become a registered nurse. Thus, this is to suggest alleviating such a stress and expanding the curriculum for character education.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to verify the necessity of endotracheal intubation through video laryngoscope and to provide basic data to inform the provision of video laryngoscope education. Methods: Eighty paramedic students participated in this study. A survey was conducted from November 5, 2018 to December 7, 2018. Data were analyzed with independent t-tests, and the chi-squared test. Results: The video laryngoscope is a highly usable instrument that can easily be applied during training. The instrument provides better visual evaluation of the normal airway (p=.004), the airway in case of cervical collar and head fixation (p=.000), and the airway in case of tongue edema (p=.000). The time of endotracheal intubation in the normal airway was significantly less with the video laryngoscope compared with the direct laryngoscope. The success rate of tracheal intubation was significantly higher in the video laryngoscope group than in the direct laryngoscope. Conclusion: This study suggests the necessity of education on endotracheal intubation through video laryngoscope in the professional airway maintenance training course of emergency department students. The video laryngoscope is easier to apply than the direct laryngoscope in cases of intubation in various clinical situations.

Currently practical examination can't function as a practical technique ability evaluation', so there is a contradiction which even though a radiologist passed an examination for license, he has to complete a training course. To improve this problem, this study tried to deduce the most reasonable plan from the analysis of propriety of currently practical examination and what improvement points are. This conduct study was compared and analyzed the performance or practical examination of radiology from leading advanced countries within the samples of 634 radiologists, 56 professors of radiology. From the result of this study, it showed that radiology practical examination was difficult to be substituted by radiology clinical training since there were some critical differences between conditions of domestic and advanced countries. Therefore, the introduction of the radiology practical examination is inevitable and necessary. However the currently practical examination can't evaluate actual practical ability, so we could conclude that converting it into OSCE (objective structured clinical examination) form is essential. From now on, we should consider more about an in-depth study on types of advanced practical examination and how to suggest and present them in order to become an one of the advanced countries for radiologic technologist.
Objectives : This study has the object to evaluate the effect of meditation at the clinical field and to classify the profer meditation by the emotional states of patients. Methods : Thirty volunteers have been recruited using local advertisement. They devided into two groups(patient group, normal group). Emotional states and stressors (STAI, STAXI, BDI, SCL-90-R, Stress Response inventory, Life event stress) have been evaluated. After that test HRV(Heart Rate Variability) has been tested and subjects took a 5-minute rest. After that, one of meditation has been chosed and has been demonstrated for 10 minutes by practiced trainer(Autogenic Training, Fruit Imaginary Meditation, Random assignment). After 5 minutes resting time, HRV has been measured again with meditation that had been administered. Results : 1. The higher the scale of emotional index, the more sensitively react has been occured according to the meditation. 2. The rate of HRV index that means stable state is higher in Fruit Imaginary Meditation group who thought to be administered meditation well. 3. The Fruit Imaginary Meditation is more effective immediately than Autogenic Training assessed by HRV scale and VAS scale of well-administered meditation especially in patients group. 4. Subjects of Highly suffered emotional problem have more effect in Fruit Imaginary Meditation Group compared to Autogenic Training Group. Conclusions : Suitable beginner meditation course considered patient's emotional problem needs to be programmed.
