Inverted maxillary incisor is that maxillary incisor rotates to the counterclockwise direction. The incisal margin and root apex of the impacted incisor is palpated at the mucobuccal fold near the labial frenum and on the palate among the rugae, respectively. Orthodontists confront ectopically erupting teeth in various locations. In the past, extraction of impacted teeth that deviated from their normal course of eruption had been performed indiscriminately. But, if it has not any clearcut contraindications, effeort should be made to achieve optimal esthetic results by conservative means, combining the skills of oral surgeon and orthodontist. The present report provides an illustration of satisfactory correction of a inverted maxillary incisor with surgical intervention and many springs that correct the tooth axis. This technique provides the clinician with an additional means to avoid unnecessary extraction of inverted teeth in certain cases.
Effects of substituents in the nucleophile(X), the substrate(Y) and the leaving group(Z) on the structure of $S_N2$ transition states have been analyzed by considering effects of four components, electrostatic($E_{es}$), exchange repulsion ($E_{ex}$), polarization($E)_{pl}$) and charge transfer($E_{ct}$) terms, of interaction between the reactants on the degree of bond making and bond breaking. Prediction of net effects of all substituents(X, Y and Z) on the degree of bond making were found to be clearcut whereas the effect of an electron withdrawing group on the substrate (Y = EWG) on the degree of bond breaking was complex; the substituent(Y = EWG) is normally carbon-leaving group($C^{\ast}$-L) bond tightening($E_{pl}$ dominance) but becomes $C^{\ast}$-L bond loosening when the bond is strongly antibonding ($E_{ct}$ dominance). Our model calculations on the reaction of $CH_2XNH_2$ with $YCH_2COOCH_2Z$ using energy decomposition scheme have confirmed that predictions based on our analysis are correct.
A full-length 1.1 kb cDNA, designated Oryza sativa Dehydrin 1 (OsDhn1), was isolated from the seed coat of rice. The deduced protein is hydrophilic and has three K-type and one S-type motifs (SK3-type), indicating that OsDhn1 belongs to the acidic dehydrin family, which includes wheat WCOR410 and Arabidopsis COR47. Expression of OsDhn1 was strongly induced by low temperature as well as by drought. Induction of OsDhn1 by cold stress was clearcut in the roots of seedlings and the epidermis of palea and lemma. OsDhn1 was also up-regulated in UBI::CBF1/DREB1b transgenic plants indicating that it is regulated by the CBF/DREB stress signaling pathway.

Flow and transport at fracture intersections, and their effects on network scale transport, are investigated in three-dimensional random fracture networks. Fracture intersection mixing rules complete mixing and streamline routing are defined in terms of fluxes normal to the intersection line between two fractures. By analyzing flow statistics and particle transfer probabilities distributed along fracture intersections, it is shown that for various network structures with power law size distributions of fractures, the choice of intersection mixing rule makes comparatively little difference in the overall simulated solute migration patterns. The occurrence and effects of local flows around an intersection (local flow cells) are emphasized. Transport simulations at fracture intersections indicate that local flow circulations can arise from variability within the hydraulic head distribution along intersections, and from the internal no flow condition along fracture boundaries. These local flow cells act as an effective mechanism to enhance the nondiffusive breakthrough tailing often observed in discrete fracture networks. It is shown that such non-Fickian (anomalous) solute transport can be accounted for by considering only advective transport, in the framework of a continuous time random walk model. To clarify the effect of forest environmental changes (forest type difference and clearcut) on water storage capacity in soil and stream flow, watershed had been investigated.
To clarify the effect of forest environmental changes (forest type difference and clearcut) on water storage capacity in soil and stream flow, watershed had been investigated in Pyungchang, Kangwon-Do during 1983∼1993. Hydrological datas such as runoff, monthly ratio of runoff to precipitation, runoff-duration, monthly runoff(by plenty, ordinary, low and scanty duration), total runoff, direct runoff by runoff components, bulk density, porosity, coarse pore, fine pore, permeability and effective water storage were obtained from Backokpo and Yimokjong watersheds. The monthly ratio of runoff to precipitation, runoff and runoff-duration were higher in Yimokiong than in Backokpo due to forest type difference. On compararing pre-treatment with trement period in two experimental watersheds, pre-treatment period was lower than treatment period. Physical properties of soil such as bulk density, porosity, permeability, and effective water storage capacity conditions were better during the pre-trement period than treatment period in the two experiment plots.
This study addressed soil disturbances following harvesting as well as soil physical and hydrological properties within three first-order headwater catchments characterized by ephemeral-intermittent streams. Four treatments representing a range of potential Best Management Practices(BMPs) for ephemeral-intermittent streams were used; BMP1, BMP2, clearcut and reference. This study includes 1 year of pre- and post-harvest observations. Results showed that post-harvest disturbances were closely related with harvesting intensity and generally tended to reflect changes in soil physical and hydrological properties following harvest with the except of bulk density and porosity. Forest clearcutting decreased macroporosity and saturated hydraulic conductivity, and increased soil resistence as a result of severe soil disturbances thereby increasing soil erosion. These impacts were reduced by implementing two BMP treatments during harvesting activities. The finding support the use of either BMP treatments for ephemeral-intermittent streams, however, the additional measure of leaving logging debris in BMP2 did not cover enough soil surface to reduce erosion.

Four cases of pulmonary pseudallescheriasis in patients with healed pulmonary tuberculosis are described. All four patients had a long history of antituberculous chemotherapy for pulmonary tuberculosis, but continuous sputum negativity for acid fast bacilli indicated apparent recovery from tuberculosis. They, however, complained continued intermittent hemoptysis and chronic cough. Although their chest roentgenograms did not show a clearcut mycetomal shadows in preformed cavitary lung lesions, Pseudallescheria boydii or Scedosporium apiospermum was repeatedly isolated from serial sputum specimens collected at different days for a period of over half an year or two years and their serial serum specimens produced precipitin bands with home-made antigen from 8-week old culture filtrate of P. boydii. Second fungus was isolated from sputum specimens of two patients and one was Candida albicans and the other was Aspergillus fumigatus. Sera from both patients reacted with antigens of those second fungi. Unfortunately pulmonary function of three patients did not allow surgical excision of the infected area and one patient refused surgery.
To study the regeneration process of tree species after clear cutting, we investigated the density of seedling occurred after 1 year in the coniferous forest of Sikotuko Hokkaido, northern Japan that was clearcut after windthrow damage due to typhoon. As the results, 25 species of tree seedlings were growing and the density of seedlings and sprouts was $9.8trees/m^2$ ($1.25tres/m^2{\sim}54.44trees/m^2$) in the area of clear cutting. The 87% ($8.6/m^2$) of all seedlings was current seedlings and non-animal dispersal seedlings (average density $7.2tree/m^2$) were about 5 times more than animal-dispersal seedlings ($1.4tree/m^2$). The seedling density was beyond $6tree/m^2$ within 10m and $2{\sim}9tree/m^2$ in 150~250m from a natural forest. Number of non-animal dispersal seedlings were decreased along the distance from a natural forest but there was not such a tendency in animal dispersal seedlings. The variation in seedling density was higher in non-animal dispersal seedling than in animal dispersal seedling. In natural regeneration of tree species after clear-cutting, the possibility that pioneer species like Betula spp. etc. will be composed of the major species is high. Therefore, in order to maintain the species diversity, the nurture work for reducing competition among the individuals is necessary.

Open- to closed canopy stage and it's ecological characteristics in vegetation succession are commonly described, but poorly understood in Korea. Vegetation development on structure, environment and understory abundance were studied for 16 yr in post-clearcut Pinus densiflora forests in the southern Gangwon-do province by applying space-for-time approach. We sampled 210 plots (10 for structure and 200 for understory) for four seral stages (1yr, 3yr, 10yr and 16yr). After clear-cut, mean stem density increased gradually to $5,714{\pm}645$ stems/ha after 16 years and mean basal area was also from $5.5{\pm}0.7m^2/ha$ after 10 years and doubled at $10.0{\pm}1.6m^2/ha$ in 16 years. Woody debris and bared soil on the forest floor peaked at 11--- after 10 years and at 10.3--- after 3 years, respectively. In understory mean cover declined with all growth form groups following succession, but in richness, forb specie increased with structural development during 16 years. Our study suggested that overstory development did not suppressed whole understory properties especially in richness, thus appeared to act as a filter selectively constraining the understory characteristics. However only long-term studies are essential for elucidating patterns and processes that cannot be inferred form short-term or space-for-time researches. Strong negative relationship between overstory and understory characteristics in conventional models surely reexamined.

Vegetation changes were studied for 16 yr in clearcut logged Pinus densiflora forests in the southern Gangwon-do province in Korea by applying chronosequence approach. Ambient temperature and relative humidity, Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DCA), Multiple Responses Permutation Procedure (MRPP), Indicator Species Analysis (ISPAN) were used to examine successional trajectory and compositional changes. After clearcutting, canopy openness was increased abruptly at three folds (1yr 68.3% and R1 23.0%) and then decreased, but relative moisture was slightly decreased (6%) compare to control site. In the result of DCA, right after clear cutting, vegetation composition was developed heterogeneously compared to control sites, and then approached to control sites within 16 years. Based on MRPP, species composition of each developmental stages (1yr, 3yr, 10yr and 16yr) revealed signigicant differences to that of control vegetation (R1, R3, R10 and R16). Indicator species in 1yr and 3yr samples included various woody species rather than herbaceous species, but in 10yr and 16yr, herbaceous were more abundant. Earlier succession of pine forests likely can explain to Initial Floristic Composition (IFC) Model.
