  • Nominalization is one of the grammatical metaphors, and it is the representation of verbal meaning through noun equivalent phrases. In mathematical word problems, texts using nominalization have both the advantage of clarifying the object to be noted in the mathematization stage, and the disadvantage of complicating sentence structure, making it difficult to understand the sentences and hindering the experience of the full steps in mathematical modelling. The purpose of this study is to analyze word problems in the textbooks from the perspective of nominalization, a linguistic element, and to derive implications in relation to students' difficulties during solving the word problems. To this end, the types of nominalization of 341 word problems from the content domain of 'Numbers and Operations' of elementary math textbooks according to the 2015 revised national curriculum were analyzed in four aspects: grade-band group, main class and unit assessment, specialized class, and mathematical expression required word problems. Based on the analysis results, didactical implications related to the linguistic expression of the mathematical word problems were derived.

  • This study was a methodological research to develop computerized patient classification system. The subjects of this investigation were 435 inpatients except redundant data and outliers in P University Hospital from January 18, 2000 to January 24, 2000. The data was analyzed by discrimination analysis and adopted discriminant variables were 1) sum of frequency for the nursing activities, 2) the number of nursing activities that do not need to consider intensity of the activities, and 3) total hours of nursing activities that need to consider their intensities. Discriminant function developed by this study classified the patients into 4 groups; class I, 251 ; class II, 125 ; class III, 39 ; class IV, 20. The Hit ratio was 89.23. Based on this study, following suggestions can be made for the future research 1. Inclusive patient classification system, which includes more expanded direct nursing care factors, need to be developed and examined. 2. This developed classification system can be utilized to evaluate patient distribution and to estimate adequate numbers of nursing staffs in each nursing unit.

  • Generalized processor sharing(GPS) service policy is a scheduling algorithm to allocate the bandwidth of a queueing system with multi-class input traffic. In a queueing system with single-class traffic, the stationary queue length becomes larger stochastically when the bandwidth (i.e. the service rate) of the system decreases. For a given GPS server, we consider the similar problem to this. We define the monotonicity for the head of the line processor sharing(HLPS) servers in which the units in the heads of the queues are served simultaneously and the bandwidth allocated to each queue are determined by the numbers of units in the queues. GPS is a type of monotonic HLPS. We obtain the HLPS server whose queue length of a class stochastically bounds upper that of corresponding class in the given monotonic HLPS server for all classes. The queue lengths process of all classes in the obtained HLPS server has the stationary distribution of product form. When the given monotonic HLPS server is GPS server, we obtain the explicit form of the stationary queue lengths distribution of the bounding HLPS server. Numerical result shows how tight the stochastic bound is.

  • Japanese larch (Larix leptolepis) is one of main timber species in Korea that could find much plantation and growing stands on all over the country. It is thought to be in meaningful that a guiding diagram for density control of Japanese larch stands is made to estimate easily the density conditions in the quantitaive, ecological and economic viewpoint. Sample plots for this study are selected from the stands that have not been thinned in recent years, and mean height, mean diameter, dominant height, tree numbers per hectare and stem volume of mean tree are calculated from the each sample plots among total 165 plots In this study, especially, the theory of slenderness of mean tree are applied, that have been identified through the results of the spacing trial. Relative growth characteristics of this species are calculated from the general logistic curve and its formula is $Y=ax^b$. Relatwion between the measured items are found out as follows: 1. Relation between the mean height and tree numbers per hectare by slender class is showing the high correlation as table 1 and fig. 2, and between mean diameter and tree numbers per hectare is also high correlation as table 1 and fig 3. 2. The stem volume can be correctly estimated from height in case that slender class may be known, as showing in table 3 and fig. 4. 3. The stem volume can be more correctly estimated from the relation with $D^2H$ as formula, $Log_e\;V=0.9569\;Log_eD^2H-9.8431$, and relation between stem volume of single tree or volume per hectare and tree numbers per hectare are as following formulas: $Log_e$ stem volume=9.5026-1.6800 $Log_e$ tree numbers per hectare $Log_e$ stem volume per hectare=9.4911-0.6784 $Log_e$ tree numbers per hectare. Stem volume of mean tree, tree numbers per hectare and stem volume per hectare correspond to the mean tree height are calculated to slender class as table 5, 6, 7. Through the above steps, the diagram for density control of Japanese larch are produced as fig. 9. It is thought that this diagram could be applied to control the density of Japanese larch stands.

  • This study concerns with the reasons of the revision of the classification scheme and the kinds and methods of the reclassification. The reclassification IS to be implemented in case that classification numbers are wrongly given, or the scheme is revised, or it is wanted that presently using scheme should be changed to a different one. In the case of a revised edition, it is desired that reclassification is made based on the new edition because of the modernization of a data organization. However, in case of that it is not possible for the situations in the library such as the number of collections, staffs, facilities, budget, etc., the old edition can be based and the new one can be referred to. In this case, however, classification numbers may be dualized on one subject, and therefore, library must prepare the reference cards and the marks of the shelves for the different class numbers. Also, because much budget is required when the scheme is changed to another one due to its unsatisfactory usage, it should be carefully considered whether to change or not. The required time in reclassification for the relocated classification number of the revised edition is 18 minutes 54 seconds per volume, and its cost requires W 1,224.

  • Choi et al's work [1] in 2015 demonstrated that the resident registration numbers (RRNs) of individuals could be conveniently estimated through their personal information that is ordinarily disclosed in social network services. As a follow-up to the study, we introduce the status of the RRN system in Korea in terms of its use in the online environment, particularly focusing on their secure use. We demonstrate that it is still vulnerable against a straightforward attack. We establish that we can determine the RRNs of the current president Moon Jae-In and the world-class singer PSY.

  • Let $Z_n(s,\;f)=n^{-1}\;{\sum}^{ns}_{i=1}(f(X_i)-Pf)$ be the sequential empirical process based on the independent and identically distributed random variables. We prove that convergence problems of $sup_{(s,\;f)}|Z_n(s,\;f)|$ to zero boil down to those of $sup_f|Z_n(1,\;f)|$. We employ Ottaviani's inequality and the complete convergence to establish, under bracketing entropy with the second moment, the almost sure convergence of $sup_{(s,\;f)}|Z_n(s,\;f)|$ to zero.

  • This paper describes qualities of a library classification system that are commonly discussed in the LIS tradition and literature, and explains such a system’s three main functions, namely knowledge mapping, information retrieval, and shelf arrangement. In this vein, the paper states the functional requirements of bibliographic classifications, which broadly are subject collocation and facilitation of browsing the collection. It explains with details the components of a library classification system and their functions. The major components are schedules, notations, and index. It also states their distinguished features, such as generalia class, form divisions, book numbers, and devices for number synthesis which are not required in a knowledge classification. It illustrates with examples from the WebDewey good examples of added features of an online library classification system. It emphasizes that institutional backup and a revision machinery are essential for a classification to survive and remain relevant in the print and e-environment.

  • CYP1 enzymes, CYP1A1, CYP1A2 and CYP1B1, are known to bioactivate procarcinogens particularly polyaromatic compounds. Flavonoids are a class of natural compounds that are present in edible plants. Structurally, these compounds are polyphenols with two aromatic rings (A, B) and a heterocycyclic ring (C). We observed the differential inhibition of 5,7-dihydroxyflavones which are different in numbers of B-ring-OH, to the activity of ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) in human hepatic microsomes with the IC50 values, ie, 0.57 mM, 1.28 mM, and 3.62 mM, chrysin, apigenin, and Luteolin, respectively.
