Characteristics and Implications of Civic Multiculturalism Policy of Canada (캐나다 시민적 다문화주의 정책의 특징과 시사점)

  • This study aims to analyze multiculturalism policy of Canada, where is praised for not only systematic multiculturalism policy but also one of the leading countries for successful managing of it, and is to explore the implications for Korea through analysis. The meaning, history, policy changes of multiculturalism of Canada, and the ways to maintain and generate for this by reviewing relating literature to achieve this goal. This study particularly focuses on the civic multiculturalism policy, which established not only the systematic foundation but also a social consensus regarding multiculturalism policy changes. Moreover, finally some suggestions of development strategies for Korea were provided. Developing and conducting of various programs for understanding and recognizing cultural and ethnic diversity, establishing a powerful law regulation and applying the rules rigorously, supporting for network formation of immigrants based on community organizations, providing information made by various languages, and developing and using a tool such as a racial impact analyzes were suggested.

  • As the world becomes more global, entry simplification measure increases many foreigners' entry and international marriage around the low income countries of southeast Asia. Those are adding multicultural phenomena to Korean society, which has a bad influence on public order environment and leads to side effect in society. Since the 9/11 terror attacks, a sudden increase in the threat of terror has been worldwide. Besides, the threat tends toward New Terrorism and contributes to factor to social malaise in Korea. Therefore, this study examines all the possibilities of hometown terrorism by multiculturalism and suggests measures for it. To achieve this, it is required to lead the people's understanding and national participation for multiculturalism. The mature civic awareness should be given priority over any others, which means the understanding and consideration of various countries' cultures and traditions. It is also necessary to inspect the dangers of hometown terrorism. Furthermore, there should be an urgent need for an institutional device to prevent and suppress terror through a close examination of countermeasures system of terror.

  • The article considers current information technologies in the organization of educational work in secondary schools in Great Britain. The forms and types of organization of educational work in secondary schools of Great Britain with the help of modern information technologies are covered. The purposes of education with the help of modern information technologies are singled out. Mental, physical, labor, moral, aesthetic and other types of education, merged in a holistic educational process, provide an opportunity to achieve the main goal - the formation of a comprehensive and harmoniously developed personality. All forms of educational work have their pedagogical significance, and each of them is valuable in the process of education. Democratization and partnership development are the leading principles of education in British schools at the present stage; multiculturalism and student independence. This is the ability to promote the role of different types of education, such as: labor, moral, legal, religious, family, environmental, aesthetic, civic, physical, mental education, which is now possible with the help of current information technology. The article considers current information technologies in the organization of educational work in secondary schools in Great Britain. A Study on the Direction for Planning and Modelling of Multicultural Policy in Korea (다문화정책 방향 제시 및 모형 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study had begun about the conflict between a lack of social adjustment and integration program for resident foreigners in Korea and a duplication of multicultural service in a specific area. This study was implemented through literature review and interview for analyses of the current status and problems of multicultural policy, subdivided into 3-stages model to reach the multiculturalism as multicultural policy process. The first stage suggested the unification of a channel for establishing a policies, reinforcing the functions of government ministries and the cooperation between the branches of the government. The second stage attempted to build the multicutural institutes network in a specific area unit, considering of the geographical and administrative environments. The third stage focused on the activities of individual organizations and proposed collaboration with library, school, support center for multi-cultural families, social service center, sport center, community center, and cultural facility. Additionally, 3-stages model emphasized on civic organization's role. This study was offered a meta-platform leaded by library community for sharing the information about planning and managing of multicutural programs and also mentioned significances for formulating multicutural policies. As a result, this study was presented and specified the 3-stages model to reach the multiculturalism, and verified the various considerations which have influenced the refinements of the multicultural policies as the demographic and geographical characteristics.
