A Strategy to Build a Local Wlde-city Metropolitan Transportation Electric Railway System (지방 대도시권 광역전철 구축 전략)

  • Now, the population and economical power is deeply concentrated to Seoul-metropolitan region, therefoere the provinces is so lagging behind and the country cannot get balance development. And, like metropolitan region, the more outer the living area of local wide-area city is spreading, the more serious wide-region transportation problems are. But the railroads near wide-area city fun seldom commuter train, so they cannot absorb the transportation demand of wide-area city metropolitan region. To solve above transportation problem, local wide- area cities try to make a subway or a light rail transit. But it is so difficult because the limit of public finance and original small capacity of light rail. In the paper, I propose 'Local city wide-area electric railways' system of the consortium of 'Local wide-city and province transportation union', Korean National Railroad (KNR) and local capital. A 'Local wide-city and province transportation union' operates commuter railways directly using the facilities of KNR, and local capital invests to the stations of above railways system. Therefore the commuter railway system around local wide-city region will be constructed quickly and the stations will be the strong point of local development and investment.

  • U-Eco City is promoted nation-wide by development of recent IT technology, method of effective countermeasure disasters, which real-time wire/wireless communication network, and 3D-Web GIS shall be connected that massive database, intelligent service be perceived. U&V-City is the four-dimensional future city that actualizes an intelligent daily ubiquitous computing service by embodying 3D-Virtual City, the reproduction of real world U-City while using Digital map, satellite image, VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language), which are presentation tool to describe city components and by efficiently catch and cope about nature and human disasters while employing EAI(External Authoring Interface) that provides HTML&JAVA, and interface for efficient removal/process of massive information/service and also by employing GPS/LBS/Navigation in support of the world-wide orientation concept, and RTLS(Real Time Location System).

Community-wide Early Response to COVID-19 in Dongnae-gu of Busan City (부산광역시 동래구 코로나-19 지역사회 초기대응 사례보고)

  • Objectives: We did this study to summarize and review and charcterize the community-wide early response to COVID-19 in Dongnae-gu of Busan Metropolitan City where first confirmed case of COVID_19 occurred in Busan. Methods: Research team from college of medicine participated as advisor to response team of local government. Research team consulted and educated and interviewed response team and wrote and reviewed COVID-19 white paper of local government. Results: Political commitment of District mayor made possible community-wide co-operation between public-private section. Early mobilization of District-wide resource was possible through political commitment. Whole-of-government response developoed to whole-of-society approach including economic support. Conclusions: Proactive community-wide response were mobilized under commitment of city mayor of local government to address the first CIVID-19 incidence in Busan Metropolitan City.

On the Optimal Vehicle Routing of City-Wide PRT based on Synchronization (동기화 기반 City-Wide PRT의 최적경로설정 방안 연구)

  • Recently, there are environmental issues for sustainable transportation system to pursue the energy-efficient and environment-friendly public urban transit. These transportation system needs to offer demand-oriented high-quality service being on the same level with cab service for urban space. PRT(Personal Rapid Transit), small track-guided vehicle, is repeatedly mentioned as a possible alternative for the new urban public transportion system, but but there are not many researches on the operational optimal routing for PRT network. In this paper, the concept of PRT and general optimal routing methods are reviewed. And we suggest the optimal routing method for city-wide PRT network with multi-vehicles and stations, junctions and directional arcs. Futher research directions for PRT routing are presented.

  • In this study, cyclic loading tests were conducted on the precast concrete (PC) wide beam (WB)-column joints. Two beam-column joint specimens were fabricated with the arrangement and anchorage details of the reinforcing bars penetrating the beam and column as variables. Through a cyclic loading test, the lateral load-story drift ratio responses, seismic performance characteristics (e.g., ductility, overstrength factor), energy dissipation, strength and stiffness degradations of each specimen were compared and analyzed based on the various indices and the current structural codes (ACI 318-19 and ACI 374.1-05 report). In addition, the shear lag effect was confirmed through the gauge values of the PC beam, and the differences in seismic performance between the specimens were identified on that basis.

  • This study conducted an operational evaluation of an emergency vehicle preemption system that can be operated as a wide-area unit beyond the boundaries of local governments. Analyzed the speed reduction rate of emergency vehicle dispatch data and traffic speed data to analyze the speed reduction rate of emergency vehicles operating in a wide area and region. In Goyang City, local dispatches were reduced by 50.8% and regional dispatches by 55.8%, while in Paju City, local dispatches were reduced by 55.1% and regional dispatches by 62.5%. The wide-area emergency vehicle preemption system proved to be effective when emergency vehicles were dispatched outside of local boundaries, such as confirming that there were many dispatches from Paju-si to Goyang-si when there were no large hospitals nearby.   • The purpose of this study is to analyze the arrangement of parks, in whole city level by using park's effective distance and to find the accessibility obstacles in case of using parks, in boundary of each parks' effective distance, so that to show how to improve communities' usage of city parks. The 8 cities in Gyeonggi-do and analysed the effective distance of parks. To find the accessibility obstacles in the boundary of parks' effective distance, 1) we choose 18 sample parks and extract obstacles - wide road, rail road, river- in interior and verify it by field survey and asking the park user's residents directly. The main findings of this study can be summarized as follows: First, Ansan city and Goyang city are only satisfied with the minimal city parks size standard, so that the rest 6 cities are lack of quantities which residents can use. The result of analyzing effective distance in whole city level, parks are mainly designated in new-town, so that most cities which have old-towns have very poor park systems to use. Because Ansan city is new-planned city, it is very effective arrangement in park systems exceptionally. Second, $96.2\%$ of park users' are living in the area which was easy to gain access not intercepted by wide road, rail road or river. Third, therefore at the stage of planning park, effective distance and resident's accessibility as well as park's supply quantitatively are needed to be considered. In addition, selection of location and elevation of resident's safety and accessibility through making a plan must be reflected. In the low accessibility area, the program to improve park's accessibility and amenity - like making small park or pocket park, linking parks with resident-friendly road etc.- has to be investigated.

Real-Time Generation of City Map for Games in Unity with View-dependent Refinement and Pattern Synthesis Algorithm

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can quickly generate and synthesize city maps in racing games. Racing games are characterized by moving a wide map rather than a fixed map, but designing and developing a wide map requires a lot of production time. This problem can be mitigated by creating a large map in the preprocessing step, but a fixed map makes the game tedious. It is also inefficient to process all the various maps in the preprocessing step. In order to solve this problem, we propose a technique to create a terrain pattern in the preprocessing process, to generate a map in real time, and to synthesize various maps randomly. In addition, we reduced unnecessary rendering computations by integrating view-dependent techniques into the proposed framework. This study was developed in Unity3D and can be used for various contents as well as racing game.
