Synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon non-neoplastic condition of the joints, forming multiple cartilaginous nodules in the synovium. The lesion usually tends to involve large joints, and the occurrence in the small joint of foot is very rare. We would like to report a case of synovial chondromatosis which was confused with Freiberg infarction in the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint of the foot.

Osteochondroma is a benign lesion of osseous and cartilagenous origin. It is a relatively common benign tumor of the skeleton, occurring most often in the metaphyseal region of long bone. However, it is rare in the facial bones. Reported foci in the mandible were the condyle, coronoid process, and symphysis region. Synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon benign condition of unknown etiology which affects the articular joints. Foci of cartilage develop through metaplasia in the underlying connective tissue of the synovial membrane. These cartilagenous foci and fragments may undergo calcification and ossification. We experienced 4 patients with abnormal appearance of mandibular condyle. This report describes 3 cases of osteocondroma and 1 case of synovial chondromatosis of the mandibular condyle with review of the literature.

Synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon condition and involvement of the glenohumeral joint is rare comparing its involvement of knee and hip. We report a case of synovial chondromatosis with its radiography, MRI and microscopic findings and treatment by arthroscopic synovectomy & loose body removal which have been developed in right shoulder of a 46 year-old-female and presented as impingement syndrome.

Synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon benign lesion characterized by metaplastic cartilage formation within the synovial connective tissue, usually intraarticular, commonly affects the knee, hip and elbow. An extraarticular lesion is rare, most often seen in a synovial sheath and bursa of the hand or foot. We present a case of extraarticular synovial chondromatosis in the left ankle, originated from the FHL tendon sheath of a 31 year-old-female diagnosed by a radiography, MRI confirmed histopathologically.

Synovial chondromatosis is a, relativly rare disease, moreover the shoulder joint is very rarely affected. The authors report two cases of synovial chondromatosis of the glenohuneral Joint and biceps tendon sheath that were managed by arthrclscopic loose body removal and partial synovectomy. Excellent subjective and objective results were obtained.

A 62-year-old female patient suffered from numbness and resting pain in the right ring and little fingers for 3 years. We confirmed cubital tunnel syndrome with electrodiagnostic study and performed the operation. We found seven firm consistent nodules, compressing the overlying the ulnar nerve, proximal to the medial epicondyle in the operation field. Histological finding showed synovial chondromatosis. We report a rare case of a patient with cubital tunnel syndrome caused by synovial chondromatosis.

Synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon condition, and the involvement of the shoulder joint is rare. A 15 year old female patient presented to author's institution for right shoulder pain. We checked the plain radiographs and MRI. And they showed that a diagnosis of synovial chondromatosis in the shoulder, and they also demonstrated that the disease involved the bicipital tendon sheath as well as glenohumeral joint. We removed all loose bodies with total synovectomy by arthroscopic procedure, and a mini-open procedure for the lesions of biceps tendon sheath. Arthroscopic treatment affords excellent visualization of the shoulder joint with less morbidity. However, with current arthroscopic techniques, it is difficult to manage the synovial chondromatosis of biceps tendon in bicipital groove. The authors suggest that the complete elimination of synovial chondromatosis involving shoulder requires a mini-open procedure for the lesions of biceps tendon sheath in addition to the arthroscopic resection of the affected synovium and loose body removal in the glenohumeral joint.

Background: The purpose of our study was to evaluate the usefulness of hip arthroscopy including extensive capsulectomy for synovial chondromatosis of the hip. Methods: From 2008 to 2016, 13 patients with synovial chondromatosis of the hip were treated with arthroscopic removal of loose bodies and synovectomy using three arthroscopic portals. An extensive capsulectomy was performed to allow the remaining loose bodies to be out of the extracapsular space, and the excised capsule was not repaired. All patients were assessed by clinical scores and the radiographs were reviewed to determine whether the remaining loose bodies disappeared at the last follow-up. Results: Eight men and two women were followed up for a minimum of 1 year (mean, 3.8 years; range, 1 to 6.8 years) after hip arthroscopy. Clinical outcomes such as modified Harris hip score, University of California Los Angeles score, and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index score improved at the last follow-up. Although seven hips had remaining loose bodies after arthroscopic surgery, the remaining loose bodies disappeared in five hips (71.4%) at the last follow-up. Conclusions: Arthroscopic surgery was useful to treat synovial chondromatosis of the hip. In spite of limited removal of loose bodies, arthroscopic procedures including extensive capsulectomy could be effective for the treatment of synovial chondromatosis of the hip.

Tenosynovial chondromatosis is a multinodular cartilaginous proliferation that arises from the tenosynovial membranes. It is rare, benign neoplasm, most commonly affects the tendon of the wrist and hand. It is clinically important because of its high rate of recurrence with a unique histopathological pattern which not infrequently displays considerable focal cellular atypia and hypercellurality nevertheless it is benign, but it has not been well recognized because of its rarity. We report here a rare case of tenosynovial chondromatosis of the tendon sheath of flexor hallucis longus and flexor digitorum longus in plantar area.

the primary diagnosis of synovial chondromatosis of temporomandibular joint is extremely rare. often many months, or even years pass before the diagnosis is confirmed. synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon disease of cartilage transformation of synovial membrane with formation of loose bodies within the joint space. a 28-year-old women had experienced pain of the left TMJ area at mastication. Radiographs of the left TMJ revealed calcified loose bodies in superior temporomandibular joint space. treatment consisted of removal of calcified loose bodies and synovail membrane. after surgery, pain of Lt temporomandibular area at mastication disappeared. until present after surgery there have been no recuurence of symptoms.
