  • This paper presents the development of two ANN models which can predict an optimum production rate by controlling choke size in oil well, and gas injection rate in gas-lift well. The input data was solution gas-oil ratio, water cut, reservoir pressure, and choke size or gas injection rate. The output data was wellhead pressure and production rate. Firstly, a range of each parameters was decided by conducting sensitive analysis of input data for onshore oil well. In addition, 1,715 sets training data for choke size decision model and 1,225 sets for gas injection rate decision model were generated by nodal analysis. From the results of comparing between the nodal analysis and the ANN on the same reservoir system showed that the correlation factors were very high(>0.99). Mean absolute error of wellhead pressure and oil production rate was 0.55%, 1.05% with the choke size model, respectively. And the gas injection rate model showed the errors of 1.23%, 2.67%. It was found that the developed models had been highly accurate.

  • Current end-to-end congestion control depends only on the information of end points (using three duplicate ACK packets) and generally responds slowly to the network congestion. This mechanism can't avoid TCP global synchronization in which TCP congestion window size is fluctuated during congestion period. Furthermore, if RTT(Round Trip Time) is increased, three duplicate ACK packets are not correct congestion signals because congestion might already disappear and the host may send more packets until it receives three duplicate ACK packets. Recently there are increasing interests in solving end-to-end congestion control using AQM(Active Queue Management) to improve the performance of TCP protocols. AQM is a variation of RED-based congestion control. In this paper, we first evaluate the effectiveness of the current AQM schemes such as RED, CHOKe, ARED, FRED and SRED, over traffic with different rates and over traffic with mixed responsive and non-responsive flows, respectively. In particular, CHOKe mechanism shows greater unfairness, especially when more unresponsive flows exist in a shared link. We then propose a new AQM scheme using CHOKe mechanism, called DQC(Double Queue CHOKe), which uses two FIFO queues before applying CHOKe mechanism to adaptive congestion control. Simulation shows that it works well in protecting congestion-sensitive flows from congestion-causing flows and exhibits better performances than other AQM schemes. Also we use partial state information, proposed in LRURED, to improve our mechanism.

  • Lots of semi-active control devices have been developed in recent years because they have the best features of passive and active system. Especially, controllable magneto-rheological(MR) fluid devices have received significant attention in these area of research. The MR fluid is the material that reversibly changes from a free-flowing, linear viscous fluid to a semisolid with a controllable yield strength in milliseconds when exposed to a magnetic field. If the magnetic field is induced by moving a permanent magnet instead of applying current to a solenoid, it is possible to design a MR damper consuming low power because the power consumption is reduced at steady state. This paper proposes valve mode MR damper using permanent magnetic circuit that has wide range of operation with low power consumption and small size. To design a MR damper that has a large maximum dissipating torque and a low damping coefficient, a design parameter is adopted. The magnetic circuit, material of choke and choke type are selected experimentally with the design parameter. The behaviors of the damper are examined and torque tracking control using PID feedback controller is performed for step, ramp and sinusoidal trajectories.

  • For passive power factor correction, the valley fill circuit approach is attractive for low power applications because of low cost, high efficiency, and simple circuit design. However, to vouch for the product quality, two dc-link capacitors in the valley fill circuit should be selected to withstand the peak rectified ac input voltage. The common mode (CM) and differential mode (DM) choke should be used to suppress the electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise, thereby resulting in large size volume product. This paper presents the practical design and implementation of a valley fill flyback converter with reduced dc link capacitors and EMI magnetic volumes. By using the proposed over voltage protection circuit, dc-link capacitors in the valley fill circuit can be selected to withstand half the peak rectified ac input voltage, and the proposed CM/DM choke can be successfully adopted. The proposed circuit effectiveness is shown by simulation and experimentally verified by a 78W prototype.

  • In a screw-type centrifugal pump, the pump head deteriorates from single-phase flow to the choke due to an increased air entrainment at a wide tip clearance compared to that of a narrow tip clearance. Moreover, at a narrow tip clearance, the pump head became partially higher in a two-phase flow than that of a single-phase flow near the best efficiency point in low void fraction region. Therefore, we observed the internal flow pattern by using a stroboscope and we measured the mean size of bubbles from the images obtained with a high speed camera. Then, we investigated the influences of the mean size of bubbles, tip clearances and flow patterns on pump performance.

  • In this paper, high density on-board dc/dc converter using multi-layer PCB is proposed. Recently, the communication system wants power supply of open-frame, high density and low profile. So experimental converter was consisted of 3.3V/30A Quarter Brick size DC/DC Converter. To power height limit, coil of transformer, choke and circuits were consisted of multi layer PCB. Besides to improve of efficiency, made secondary synchronous rectifier Mosfet driving circuit. So total efficiency could be improved.

  • A LNG safety valve functions to control a constant pressure inside the LNG line of transportation, and the flow through it accompanies with noise and vibration which affect adversely on the system. The present study aims at understanding the flow physics of LNG safety valve for a practical design of LNG safety valve. A computational work using the two-dimensional, axisymmetric, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations is carried out to simulate the gas flow through the LNG safety valve, and compared with the theoretical results. It is found that the shape of valve sheet and the gap size are the key parameters in determining the gas dynamic forces on the valve sheet, and there exists a distance between nozzle exit and valve sheet in which the thrust coefficient at the valve sheet increases abruptly.

  • This study was designed to investigate the effect of the surgical delay in the prefabricated cutaneous flap. Abdominal skin flaps (n=40), $4.5{\times}6.0cm$ in size, were created by the subcutaneous implantation of a saphenous vascular tissue in the male Sprague-Dawley rats. In the groups 1 and 2, the pedicle was skeletonized. In the groups 3 and 4, perivascular muscle cuff or gracilis fascia was retained, respectively. Six weeks later, each flap was elevated as an island flap and reposed in place. All flaps of the group 2 had a 72-hours of delay period. Five days after the flap repositioning, estimation of flap viability, microangiographies, and histological evaluation of vessel development were performed. The groups 2 and 3 showed higher viability in flap survival. The dilated choke vessels and fully developed vascular network were observed in the flap of the group 2, but not typically seen in the other groups. New vessels around the implanted pedicle were more developed in the group 2. Amount of the vessels in the mid-portion of the flap was significantly increased in the groups 2 and 4. In conclusion, the delay procedure enhanced the viability, and its effect was dependent on the new vessel formation around the implanted pedicle.
