The impact absorption materials made of synthetic organic chemical product like Expanded Polystyrene(EPS), Expanded Polyethylene(EPE), Expanded Polyurethane(EPU), etc. have been used with general packaging material until the present. But nowadays, the use of these materials is intended to be decreased and to be recycled in connection with environmental pollution. In addition, it has been tried to substitute these materials with non-pollution materials(natural materials) like pulp mould, paper protectors, etc. At the same time, it is required to evaluate and analyze these cushioning materials for cushioning properties based on impact and vibration, in order to make an efficiency on the overall packaging system because they are generally being used by a random choice regardless of the properties of contents and cushioning materials. Therefore, this study provides analyzed data on cushioning properties of various cushioning materials against impact and vibration, and is intended to provide more efficient model for packaging system by minimizing their using amount through choosing an optimal cushioning material as well as intended to lead to the use of nonpollution materials in case these cushioning materials have same cushioning properties.

A method is proposed for the choice of the number of principal components in principal component regression based on the predicted error sum of squares. To do this, we approximately evaluate that statistic using a linear approximation based on the perturbation expansion. In this paper, we apply the proposed method to various data sets and discuss some properties in choosing the number of principal components in principal component regression.

The physical properties of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) are highly dependent on the degree of syndiotacticity, which is determined primarily by the choice of the vinyl ester monomer precursor. Efforts to produce more syndiotactic PVAs, as well to increase the molecular weight, have centered on the polymerization of vinyl trifluoroacetate,$^1$ vinyl trichloroacetate,$^2$ and vinyl pivalate (VPi).(omitted)

Direct application of adaptive algorithm to the actual I/O is not a good strategy. The importance of using a kind of filter for estimation or control is strongly recommended. Simple pre-filtering method and pseudo-plant method is introduced. And, the properties of each methods are compared by analysis and/or simulations. A guideline for the choice of filters are proposed.

We in the Korea Institute for Advanced Study are preparing the fifth Horizon Run in a series of large-scale cosmological simulations. For the first time we will include full hydrodynamics and astrophysical processes using a RAMSES code. I will discuss the impact of large-scale structures on smaller scale properties in cosmological hydrodynamic simulation to justify our choice of simulation boxsize, whose one side length is up to 1 Gpc.

Concrete is an important material in most of civil constructions. Many properties of concrete can be determined through analysis of concrete images. Image segmentation is the first step for the most of these analyses. An automated system for segmentation of concrete images into microstructures using texture analysis is proposed. The performance of five different classifiers has been evaluated and the results show that using an Artificial Neural Network classifier is the best choice for an automatic image segmentation of concrete.

This paper is concerned with a modification of the k-spatial medians clustering. To find a suitable number of clusters, the number k of clusters is incorporated into the k-spatial medians clustering criterion through a weight function. Proposed method for the choice of the weight function offers a reasonable number of clusters. Some theoretical properties of the method are investigated along with some examples.

This paper discusses the gereral principles to be considered in the design of usef interfaces of graphics packages and presents a top-down design process in systematic way. The effective and convenient user interfaces are analyzed based on human factors criteria and we discuss the properties and application requirements of typical interaction techniques which support primitive tasks. The choice of an interaction technique has a set of input device prerequisites to be met.

The extraordinary intrinsic properties of SiC have made this material a suitable choice to use in high temperature, high frequency, and high voltage applications. In additional to these, SiC could be employed as the based material for nonvolatile memory applications, mainly due to its extremely low thermal-generation rate at room temperature. In this paper, the reasons of using this material in this particular application is presented and the development of the application over the past fifteen years is reviewed.

This study on the lifestyle of senior citizens measured how slection criteria affects franchise restaurant selection. Word of mouth was determined not to have a negative effect between senior citizen lifestyle and franchise restaurant selection. First, the lifestyle of senior citizens were categorized into 4 sub-variables-extroverted, open, progressive, and future-oriented -. It identified information about the properties of the choice variables franchise restaurants positively influence on the all relationships .Second, the mediating effect of word of mouth was verified form the realtionships.
