가정외보호아동의 사회적 자본과 문화적 자본이 학업성취에 미치는 영향 (The Impacts of Social and Cultural Capital on the Academic Achievement of Children in Out-of-Home Care)

  • Drawing on social and cultural capital theory, the study investigates the influences of social capital and cultural capital on the academic achievement of children in out-of-home care. We collected data from 494 children living in out-of-home services, including institutional care facilities, foster care homes, and group homes. To analyze the collected data, a multiple regression analysis method was used. In addition, the IV (instrumental-variables) estimation was utilized to rule out the possibility of reverse causality. The level of children's social capital was measured through children's relationships with parents and friends, parental monitoring, etc. The level of children's cultural capital was measured by their cultural activities, such as going to museums, and playing musical instruments. Children's personal characteristics and placement history in out-of-home services were used as control variables. We found that among personal characteristic variables, self-esteem, depression and anxiety, and delinquency affected the academic achievement of the children. Cultural capital, but not social capital, positively affected the level of academic achievement of the children. Based on the study results, implications for child welfare practice were discussed.

피학대아동의 가정복귀 후 심리행동적 적응에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Related to Psycho-Behavioral Adjustment in Abused Children Returning to Their Homes After Out-of-Home Care)

  • This study examined conditions and influential factors of psycho-behavioral adjustment in abused children who had been returned home after out-of-home care. Subjects were selected nationwide from the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Subjects were 54 cooperative children selected from among 126 returned children : they were older than 11 years of age and had experienced more than one day in out-of-home care between January 2002 and December 2003. Findings were: (1)children had such psychological adjustment symptoms as withdrawal, depression, or anxiety, rather than symptoms of misdeeds and aggression. (2) Level of self-esteem and re-abuse were the great influential factors in psycho-behavioral adjustment. This result shows that the processes of out-of-home care and returning home remain important issues for abused children.

가정외보호 아동의 보호 만족도에 관한 종단적 연구 - 양육시설, 그룹홈, 가정위탁 보호의 비교 - (Longitudinal Study on Care Satisfaction of Children in Out-of-Home - Comparison among Residential Care Centers, Group Homes, and Foster Homes -)

  • 가정외보호 서비스는 그 유형에 따라 서비스의 질과 만족도에 많은 차이가 발생할 수 있지만, 우리나라의 대표적 가정외보호 유형인, 양육시설, 그룹홈, 가정위탁 서비스를 비교한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구는 양육시설, 그룹홈, 가정위탁으로부터 보호 서비스를 받고 있는 494명의 아동을 대상으로 5년간 보호 만족도를 조사하여 비교하였다. 더 나아가 가정외보호 아동의 보호 만족도 변화궤적에 영향을 미치는 요인을 다층모형 분석을 이용하여 조사하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 그룹홈 아동의 보호 만족도가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 다음으로 가정위탁, 아동양육시설 순이었다. 둘째, 자아존중감, 사회적지지, 그리고 가정외보호 서비스 유형이 가정외보호 아동의 보호 만족도 변화 궤적에 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 요인으로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 아동의 가정외보호 적응을 돕고 보호 만족도를 높이기 위한 방안을 제시하였다.

가정외보호 아동의 양육자 관계와 교우관계의 상호 영향: 자기회귀교차지연모형을 활용한 종단연구 (The Reciprocal Relationship between Caregiver Relations and Peer Relations of Children in Out-of-home Care: Longitudinal Study Using Autoregressive Cross-lagged Modeling)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the longitudinal causal relationship between caregiver relations and peer relations of children in out-of-home care. We analyzed the three years(2011-2013) of longitudinal data from the Panel Study on Korean Children in Out-of-Home Care. The autoregressive cross-lagged model (ARCL) was used to measure the longitudinal causal relationship between caregiver relations and peer relations. As a result, first, caregiver relations and peer relations showed stability over time. In other words, the results of the measurement at three time points showed that the caregiver relations and peer relations at the previous time had a significant effect on the caregiver relations and peer relations at the later time point. Second, the previous caregiver relations had a significant effect on the subsequent peer relations over time. Third, the previous peer relations had a significant effect on the subsequent caregiver relations over time. This study confirmed the interrelationships of caregiver relations and peer relations of children in care by examining the longitudinal data using the longitudinal analysis method.

서울지역 가정어린이집 원장의 어린이급식관리지원센터 이용 경험 분석 (Administrators' Experience of Using Service Provided by Center for Children's Foodservice Management among Home-based Child Care Centers in Seoul)

  • This study examined the experience of administrators of home-based child care centers about CCFSM (Center for Children's Foodservice Management) service using a qualitative approach. Eight administrators of home-based child care centers in Seoul with more than one year's experience of CCFSM were interviewed regarding their opinions on support activities, standards, and foodservice management. The interviews were semi-structured with open-ended questions and they were transcribed and classified according to the subjects. There were negative opinions regarding the indications after a hygiene inspection leaving photographs or records behind, but most positive opinions were about round visits for foodservice sanitation and nutrition management. The participants thought that it is not enough that the number of nutrition education sessions for children be twice a year, and there was a suggestion to increase the rentals of nutrition educational materials. There was a complaint about the menus in that were difficult to prepare for lunch time or to obtain food ingredients for. The administrators poorly recognized how to use the standardized recipes and chlorine-based disinfectants, so they could not be applied properly. They also pointed out the problems of joint purchasing as low quality and high prices in the food service operation. They felt discriminated against compared to with larger scale child care centers because of their size and expressed concerns regarding the fact that many home-based child care centers were not included due to the lack of publicity and budget. Through the results, the CCFSM should provide a differentiated service and management by creating a dedicated team or staff for home-based child care centers so they will not feel left out. In addition, It is also important to constantly gather opinions to improve the menus and to use standardized recipes practically. In addition, it will be necessary to develop nutrition educational materials corresponding to the infants' age for home-based child care centers and increase the rent to expand nutrition education.

아동양육시설 아동의 사회적 적응과 영향요인 (Social Adjustment and Influential Factors in Children Living in Child Care Institutions)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify and assess influential social adjustment factors in children who live in child care institutions. To do this, correlation and regression analysis in Structural Equation Model were carried out on 326 children from 12 child care institutions. The findings are as follows; Social adjustment in children living in child care institutions were deemed better based on higher self-esteem, more maintenance of contact with parents, more positive caring environment within institutions, higher support of fellow school children, and more pro-social charactes of school peers. The influence of each variables on social adjustment was indicated to be highest in institutions with a caring environment. In conclusion, self-esteem, pro-social charactes of school peers, support of fellow school children, and contact with parents (in that order) were deemed most influential to social adjustment.

그룹홈과 아동양육시설의 운영성과에 영향을 미치는 요인 : Blinder-Oaxaca 분해를 중심으로 (The Factors Influencing Service Outcomes of Group Homes and Residential Care Centers : Focusing on Blinder-Oaxaca Decomposition)

  • This study investigates the factors influencing service outcomes of group homes and residential care centers, as well as the factors causing any differences between the two service outcomes. 119 and 137 5-6th graders were selected from group homes and residential care centers respectively, using the cluster sampling method. Multiple regression and Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition were used in this study. The results revealed that 'stigma', 'school adjustment', and 'social support' were significant factors influencing service outcomes among children in group homes, while 'stigma', 'primary caregivers' attitude', and 'peer relations' were identified as significant factors among children in residential care centers. The study also found that the mean service outcome score for group homes was higher than that of residential care centers. The 74 percent of this difference in the mean scores was due to the difference in children' characteristics of the two out-of-home care service types. The remaining 26 percent of this difference was due to unobserved characteristics. Finally, the implications of this study in child welfare practices were also discussed.

보호종료아동의 자립증진을 위한 법률 및 제도 개선방안 (Plans for Improvement of Laws and Systems to Promote Independent Living of Child Discharged from out-of-home Care)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 첫째 보호종료아동의 자립 관련 법률과 제도를 분석하고, 둘째 보호종료아동의 현황에 대한 설문조사를 실시하여 분석하고, 셋째 보호종료아동의 자립증진을 위한 법률 및 제도 개선방안을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 첫째, 보호종료아동의 자립 관련 법률 및 자립지원 제도를 분석하였다. 보호종료아동의 자립 관련 선행연구, 보호종료아동의 자립 관련 법률, 보호종료아동을 위한 자립지원 제도를 분석하였다. 둘째, 보호종료아동의 현황조사를 실시하고, 그 결과를 분석하였다. 한국아동복지협회, 한국아동청소년그룹홈협의회, 중앙가정위탁지원센터의 협조를 받아 전국의 보호종료아동 251명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 그 결과를 분석하였다. 셋째, 연구의 결론으로서 아동양육시설, 공동생활가정, 위탁가정의 보호종료아동의 자립증진을 위한 법률과 제도의 개선방안을 제시하였다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 가정외보호 아동의 친부모애착과 자아존중감 간의 관계를 대리양육자애착과 또래애착의 매개효과를 검증하여 아동복지 실천 및 정책적 함의를 모색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국가정외보호아동패널조사 1차년도 자료에서 426명의 초등학교 5,6학년 아동을 연구대상으로 포함하였다. 구조방정식 분석 결과, 가정외보호 아동의 친부모애착은 자아존중감에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않았고 대리양육자애착과 또래애착은 자아존중감에 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 대리양육자애착과 또래애착의 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 대리양육자애착과 또래애착은 친부모애착과 자아존중감 간의 관계를 완전 매개한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 친부모와의 정기적 만남을 통해 친부모와의 관계 개선 및 이를 통한 대리양육자애착과 또래애착을 증진시킬 수 있는 방안을 논하였다.

학령기 아동의 자기보호와 부모감독에 따른 또래관계 및 인지적 자기능력 지각 (The Effects of Self-care and Parental Monitoring on Peer Relations and Perceived Cognitive Self-Competence of School Age Children)

  • The objects of this study were to find out the effects of peer relations and perceived cognitive self-competence according to 1) grade, sex, and self-care, 2) parental social status and monitoring. 429 3rd- and 6th-graders (238 boys and 191 girls) were included as subjects. For measuring variables, RCP, Harter's Perceived Cognitive Self-Competence Rating Scale, and Parental Monitoring Questionnaire based on Crouter et al.(1990) were used. The data were analysed by MANOVA, t-test, and univariate ANOVA. The results were as follows.‘Social-Leadership’of peer relations was influenced by children's grade, grade $\times$ sex effects. 3-way interaction of children's variables and parental monitoring made significant differences in ‘Shy-Isolation’. Children's perceived cognitive self-competence was influenced by their grade and parent's social status. These results confirmed the significant roles of self-care and parental monitoring in children's development.
