So far, there were a few web-based distance English learning systems for children. The existing systems for children have not appropriately reflected their learning characteristics and interests, since most of those systems regards mainly adults as targets. This thesis is aimed at proposing more effective educational service modules of web-based real-time system in order to encourage children's interests as much as possible in learning English. The web-based real-time distance learning system is a model based on the survey over the current use and satisfaction status of elementary school students who have actually used those kinds of systems. With the great expectation of more effective way of learning English, it also focuses on attracting parents to participate the learning process by providing a service to look over, in real-time, what their children do through the internet-based English learning system.

In order to verify the validity of the exhibition moethod in a science museum, this study undertakes a visitor follow-up survey, and clarifies the influence an exhibition method affect visitor's behavior, and its feature. The tracking research performed the visitor follow-up survey to family company children. The characteristic of the visitor's behavior by the exhibition method; Use frequency becomes low in order of 'Experience type' 'Participation type' 'Fixed type'. Experience type has tendencies, such as repetitive and continuing use, and use time was long. Otherwise use time of Fixed type was short. As a result, although the use frequency of Hands-on is high and its use time is longer than Hands-off, it turns out that is influenced according to factors, such as the exhibition method, presentation and the contents of exhibition.
This paper explores the education of school children and youths on the treatment of companion animals. It is possible to make us collect necessary information anytime, anywhere, free from time and space through the recent activation of U-city and make good use of our companion animal.
As the use of smart devices such as smartphones and tablets has become common, the time to start using smart devices is getting earlier, such as using smart devices from the age of one. Also, the use of smart devices by infants and toddlers is continuously increasing. Smart devices have become convenient means of acquiring pleasure and knowledge, but the side effects of addiction and overdependence are becoming issues as much as the benefits of smart devices. This study pays attention to young children's overdependence on smart devices, and focuses on the aspects of parents' perception, control, and observational behavior about smart devices, which can have a profound effect on young children. This study examines how young children's overdependence on smart devices can consequently affect children's characteristics in terms of activity, emotional sensitivity, and social aspects. In particular, this study attempts to explore that the factors influencing children's overdependence on smart devices and the results can vary depending on the moderating variables (parents' control method for children's smart device use, supervision method, and type of contents mainly used). Based on the findings, this study can provide guidelines and implications for parents on how to effectively use smart devices for their young children.
The purpose of this study was to find out the current status of smart phone usage, differences of developmental characteristics and time diaries between high- and low- usage groups. The study also tried predicting variables among children's personal and family environment factors in order to classify four year old children in the fifth year Panel Study on Korean Children into the two groups. Data was collected from 435 smart phone users and 157 of them who had started to use a phone before age 3.Frequency analysis, t-test and logistic regression were performed. The results showed that most 4 year old children started to use a phone in their fourth year and used it frequently. The low level groups of girls and all participants showed lower levels of behavior problems, and the low level group of all participants had a longer sleep times than the high level group had. Children's activity and social temperament were identified as predicting variables for classifying children into the two groups. The results suggested the necessity of measures preventing children from excessive smart phone usage in their early years and to consider children's temperament first.
Korean (L1)-English (L2) bilingual adults' and children's production of Korean and English stops was examined to determine the age effects and L2 experience on the development of L1 and L2 stop contrasts. Four groups of Seoul Korean speakers (experienced and inexperienced adult and child groups) and two groups of age-matched native English speakers participated. The overall results of voice onset time (VOT) and fundamental frequency (F0) of phrase-initial stops in Korean and word-intial stops in English showed a delay in the acquisition of L1 due to the dominant exposure to L2. Significantly longer VOT and lower F0 for aspirated stops as well as high temporal variability across repetitions of lenis stops were interpreted to indicate a strong effect of English on Korean stop contrasts for bilingual children. That is, the heavy use of VOT for Korean stop contrasts shows bilingual children's attention to the acoustic cue that are primarily employed in the dominant L2. Furthermore, inexperienced children, but not adults, were shown to create new L2 categories that are distinctive from the L1 within 6 months of L2 experience, suggesting greater independence between the two phonological systems. The implications of bilinguals' age at the time of testing to the degree and direction of L1-L2 interaction are further discussed.

This study explores how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed family life and relationships as well as how these changes affect perceived stress among married men and women. This study investigated changes in family time use, household work, child care, leisure activities, income and expenditures along with relationships between spouses and children using a sample of 627 married persons surveyed online from May 19 to 25, 2020. The results showed that the amount of time spent on household work, child care, and family leisure have increased and that the perceived burden of household work and child care has also increased. Gender differences were found in time use, household work, and child care. Leisure activities have changed toward more time watching TV or online media and playing online games and less time on outdoor activities, shopping, and meeting friends. About 38% of respondents reported a reduction in household income and 22% reported an increase in household debt. The majority experienced no change in the quality of relationships with spouses and children, approximately 20% of the sample reported a positive change in relationships with spouses and children. The findings of multivariate regression indicated that change in work time, negative change in household economy, negative change in household work and negative change in relationships with spouses were associated with marital stress. However, this study found that negative changes in child care and in relationships with children did not affect stress among married parents with children in elementary or secondary school.

Objectives: Excluding in their homes, children spend most of their time at an elementary school, daycare center, and/or kindergarten. For educational or recreational purposes, they make use of many children's goods at these places. Some children's goods contain phthalates and heavy metals with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), so due to their physiological and behavioral characteristics children are exposed to high concentrations of phthalates and heavy metals. This study aims to measure PVC and heavy metals, which are harmful substances in children's goods which can have an effect on children's health. Methods: Six samples of children's goods were selected through cases of detected harmful substances and the results of previous research, including assembly blocks, model toys, household toys, bags, indoor play equipment, and floor mats. The selected items were measured using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), and the presence and content of environmentally harmful substances such as PVC or heavy metals in the materials of children's goods were examined. Results: The highest detection rate for PVC was observed in floor mats, and bags and indoor play equipment were higher than other goods in this regard. The highest detection rate for heavy metals was found in bags, followed by indoor play equipment, assembly blocks, household toys, model toys and floor mats. Except for bags containing heavy metals, five goods showed the highest level of Pb compared to other heavy metals. Floor mats contained the highest level of Pb, Cr, and Cu among all goods. Conclusion: Many children's goods contain PVC and heavy metals, and high levels of heavy metals have been detected in some goods. It is necessary to manage children's goods to support their health.
This study aims to analyze the effects of education for persons with disabilities on non-disabled children's attitude to accept disabled children in order to use it as foundational data to practice successful integrated education. According to the study result, education for persons with disabilities positively changed non-disabled children's attitude to accept disabled children's school life and personal life. This plainly shows that education for persons with disabilities is effective regardless of time consumed even with the short time of four weeks here. However, it did not exert positive effects on their attitude to accept social life. Therefore, it is needed to develop education programs for persons with disabilities constantly with various approaches in order to get rid of non-disabled people's wrong recognition on disability and also ignorance about disability.
As the AI speaker market is growing rapidly in recent years, the competition for the preoccupation of children who are the main users and the future prospective customers of the related companies is very intense. However, there is a lack of empirical research on how children interact with AI speakers. Therefore, this research examines the interactions between children and AI speakers, primarily through field studies, to extract what functions they use and what features they have. For this purpose, 799 conversations were collected and analyzed using the log data of the AI speaker recorded in real time. As a result, children were more likely to use children's songs, fairy tales, emotional conversations, and personification compared to adults. In addition, content analysis by specific types resulted in success/failure cases of interaction between children and AI speakers and proposed improvements by failure type. This study is meaningful in that it identifies children's AI speaker preferences, content, and major conversation patterns, and provides guidelines for developing services that meet children's eye level.
