국내산 밤나무 수간 내 목섬유 및 도관요소 길이의 방사방향 변이성 (Radial Variations in the Lengths of Wood Fibers and Vessel Elements in the Stem of Chestnut (Castanea crenata) Grown in Korea)

  • 국내산 밤나무 목재의 효율적 이용을 위한 기초 자료를 얻기 위하여 밤나무 7품종(단택, 이취, 이평, 만성, 은기, 유마, 축파)의 목섬유 및 도관요소 길이를 대상으로 방사방향 변이성을 조사하였다. 목섬유 및 도관요소 길이는 조재와 만재 부위를 구별하여 3연륜 간격으로 광학현미경과 화상분석기를 사용하여 측정하였다. 밤나무 수간에 있어 만재 목섬유의 길이가 조재의 것보다 다소 더 길었으며, 조재 및 만재 모두에 있어 연륜 증가에 따라 목섬유 길이가 증가하는 경향이 나타났다. 이와 유사하게, 만재 도관요소의 길이 역시 조재의 것보다 다소 더 길었으며, 조재 및 만재 모두에 있어 연륜 증가에 따라 도관요소의 길이가 완만하게 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 결론적으로 밤나무 수간에 있어서의 목섬유 및 도관요소의 길이는 성숙재와 미성숙재를 판단하는 재질 지표로 이용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다

Manufacture for living supplies of Chestnut wood(Castanea crenata Sieb. et Zucc)

  • This study was carried out to manufacture wooden vessels by small diameter wood and wasted wood of Castanea crenata Sieb. et Zucc, which has been largely planted in southern area. We made spice set, tea box set, cookie vessel set, bowl set and accessory set. With the development of edged tools, the human species has been able to fashion wood to change and enhance its environment - one only has to look at the history of all cultures to see examples of wooden artifacts and structures. Even with the development of synthetic materials and the progress of automated, mechanized production of wood and wood products, the raw material is still processed by traditional methods to meet a never-ending demand for products made from this most desirable natural material. Chestnut wood has high added value and natural color grain and is very useful for wooden vessel. Thinned low grade trees can be used to produce wooden vessel. Therefore this result can promote thinning and produce good forestation.

가구재로써 노령 밤나무재의 효율적 이용에 관한 연구 (Study on Effective Use of Aged Chestnut Woods as Furniture Materials)

  • This study explored the development of wood furniture made of aged Castanea crenata Sieb. et Zucc, which has been largely planted in the southern area since 1960s and has hardly been used as furniture materials. First, the physical properties of the chestnut wood including specific gravity, stiffness, and shrinkage were compared with Zelkova serrata, Acer palmatum Thunb., Fagus crenata var. multinevis, Quercus, Tagayasan, Prunus serrulata var. spontanea, Juglans sinenis, Pteronrpus santalinus, Diospyros ebenum, and Fraxinus rhynchophylla, which have largely been used in manufacturing furniture. The chestnut wood had appropliate physical properties for wood furniture like other furniture woods. A piece of small table 50 cm in width, 50 cm in length and 60 cm in height by the chestnut tree was created for a current interior space. Since the diameter of the chestnut tree planted since 1960s is below around 30 cm, the top plate of the table had to be put together by an end-joint technique using a small strip. Finally, it is expected that this study will create a greate motivation for furniture designers, furniture studios and furniture companies in Korea to use the woods from the aged chestnut tree in developing furniture in the future.

우리나라의 밤 가격(價格) 및 국내소비량(國內消費量) 추정(推定)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Estimating Functions of Price and Domestic Consumption of Chestnut in South Korea)

  • This study was carried out to estimate price and domestic consumption functions of chestnut using time series data for the period 1970~1989. Using a regression analysis method, price and domestic consumption functions of chestnut in Korea are estimated. The result of this study reveals that the optimum function of price for chestnut is PR= -249.33965 + 163532.56817 EX/POP-4.10177 PD+4.02877 DC+6056.98339 GDP/POP($R^2$=0.88207), and that optimum function of domestic consumption for chestnut is ln DC=14.97145+1.48279 ln PD/POP - 0.32853 ln GDP - 0.02337 ln PR - 0.12117 ln EX($R^2$=0.98689). On the ground that instability of prices make the income of producer and family finances of consumer unstable, the object of price-policy should be to stabilize price of chestnut in Korea.

밤송이 이용(利用)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(2) - 밤송이 분말(粉末)의 합판접착용(合板接着用) 증량제(增量劑)로의 이용(利用) - (Studies on the Utilization of Chestnut Bur(2) - Utilization of Chestnut Bur Powder as Glue Extender for Plywood Adhesion -)

  • To develope the utilities of the chestnut bur, which is wasted after harvesting chestnut in farmhouses, the feasibilities of adhesion(urea resin) extenders of the powder for plywood were examined. These experiments were implemented on experimental scale at Forestry Research Institute(Seoul) and on a plywood mill scale at Eugon Industrial Co LTD(Inchon) for more reliable data. In this paper, it was proved that the chestnut bur powder caused to rise the glue viscosity but the chaff powder to down reversely. The most effective mixing ratio were wheat flour 5kg, chaff powder: 5kg and chestnut bur powder. 5kg per 100kg of urea resin. At this condition, the viscosity were most appropriate (1,320 2,230 cps) for glue spreading operations, and the dry shear strengthes were most adequate(10.7-13.2kg/$cm^2$), wood failure ratio 82-88%). The chestnut bur powder, can be utilized for plywood adhesion extenders without any change of present process lines in plywwod mills.

밤송이 이용(利用)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (1) - 밤송이 성분(成分) - (Studies on the Utilization of Chestnut Bur(1) - Components of Chestnut Bur -)

  • As the production of chestnuts from chestnut trees has been increased annually in the past several years in this country, developing the utilities of chestnut bur has been considered as one of main research problems. Therefore. in this paper, the chemical components were analysed to find a way of utilizing the chestnut bur. It was proved that chestnut bur is abundant in extractives (hot water 16.0%, 1%-NaOH 40.6%) and tannin content (16.5%). Of the tannin, the soluble tannin (3.2%) content is higher than condensed tannin (2.2%), and gallic acid content(3.3-3.9%) is slightly higher than ellagic acid(2.8-3.0%), For more effectively utilizing as a tannin resources, the chestnut bur should be collected immediately after yield of chestnuts, maybe in October every year.

EVALUATION OF DISEASE RESISTANCE AND SUSCEPTIBILITY TO CHESTNUT BLIGHT FUNGUS, CRYPHONECTRIA PARASITTCA, OF CHESTNUT VARIETIES IN KOREA

  • For the selection and breeding of chestnut varieties resistant to the chestnut blight fungus Cryphonectria parasitica, disease resistance and susceptibility of 28 varieties widely planted and growing in Korea were evaluated by artificial inoculation of a pathogenic fungus. For this experiment, a typical virulent strain (KCPC-19) was selected. Artificial inoculation was conducted into all varieties by using two different materials and methods, i.e., bark and wood tissue sections in the laboratory and living trees in the field. In the bark and wood tissue section method, the size of necrotic area and canker development on chestnut varieties were examined and compared 4 days after inoculation. There were wide variations of chestnut varieties in disease resistance and susceptibility against chestnut blight fungus, but 3 varieties, Daebo!, Ishizuchi, and Sandae, were shown to be relatively resistant to the disease with the necrotic area of 0.95-1.03 cm2, while Arima was the most susceptible with the size of 2.0 cm2. In the living tree inoculation examined 5 weeks after inoculation, 3 varieties, Daebo, Ishizuchi, and Riheiguri, showed the higher resistance, but Tono 2 did the highest susceptibility among tested varieties.

전통악기 음향판용재의 살리게닌 처리가 음향성 및 흡습성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Saligenin Treatment on Acoustical Properties and Adsorption of Soundboard for Traditional Musical Instruments)

  • 본 연구는 밤나무와 오동나무에 대해 살리게닌 처리, 가열처리 및 무처리재의 세포조직, 평형함수율, 흡습성과 음향 성을 비교할 목적으로 수행하였는데, 이를 수종의 무처리재와 열처리재의 세포조직은 거의 동일하였지만 살리게닌 처리재의 세포벽은 무처리재의 것보다 두꺼워졌다. 평형함수율은 무처리재, 가열처리재 및 살리게닌 처리재 순으로 낮게 나타났으며, 살리게닌 흡수율(吸收率)이 클수록 평형함수율은 감소되었고 흡습곡선은 포물선적으로 증가되었다. 살리게닌 처리재의 음향성은 현저하게 개선되었으며, 그 다음 가열처리재 순으로 나타났다. 살리게닌 흡수율(吸收率)후 수준에 따른 음향성은 밤나무의 경우 흡수율(吸收率) 20%와 30%, 그리고 오동나무의 경우 흡수율(吸收率) 80% 처리재의 개량효과가 가장 컸었다.

  • 임산바이오매스 자원 이용의 일환으로 율추(栗皺) 열수추출물의 디에틸에테르 가용부의 HPLC 분석결과, 표준물질과의 retention time이 일치한 것을 RI detector로 얻어진 각 피크의 스펙트럼을 표준물질과 비교하고, 순도를 확인하는 방법으로 피크의 동정을 실시하였다. 피크의 동정 결과, phenolic acids와 aldehyde류로는 gallic acid, 3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 2,4,6-trihydroxybenzoic acid, 그리고 protocatechualdehyde이었으며, flavonoids는 catechin과 epicatechin으로 모두 6종이 확인되었다.

폐암면 입자와 목재 입자의 배지 내 혼합 비율이 페튜니아 플러그묘의 생장에 미치는 영향 (Medium Composition Including Particles of Used Rockwool and Wood Affects Growth of Plug Seedlings of Petunia 'Romeo')

  • 양액 재배용 배지의 국산화 필요성과 양액 재배 폐암면 재활용 배지를 개발하기 위하여 입자화된 폐암면과 목재 파쇄 입자를 혼합한 배지에서, 페튜니아 플러그묘를 재배하여 배지로서의 효과를 알아보고자 본 실험을 수행하였다. 1차 실험은 소독한 폐암면 입자와 파쇄기로 파쇄한 후 6개월 동안 후숙한 뒤 2.8mm와 5.6mm 체를 통과한 밤나무 입자를 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, 0:100 부피비율로 조합한 혼합 배지에서 페튜니아의 생육을 조사하였다. 그리고 2차 실험은 소독한 폐암면에 4mm 밤나무 파쇄 입자, 4mm 소나무 파쇄 입자, 코이어, 피트모스, 그리고 펄라이트를 조합하여 만든 20가지 혼합 상토배지에서 공시식물의 생육을 조사하였다. 페튜니아의 생육을 조사한 결과 1차 실험에서는 밤나무 입자의 크기에 따른 생육은 유의차가 없었고, 대조구와 100% 폐암면인 처리구에서 생육이 좋았으며 밤나무의 혼합 비율이 높아질수록 생육이 저조하였다. 2차 실험에서 페튜니아의 초장, 지상부 생체중과 건물중은 폐암면+피트모스+코이어에서 가장 높았고, 다음으로 폐암면+피트모스구에서 높게 나타났다. 밤나무나 소나무를 혼합한 처리구에서 초장이 낮게 나타났는데, 특히 밤나무를 혼합한 처리구에서 낮게 나타났다. 지하부 등급은 폐암면+피트모스+펄라이트구에서 가장 높았고, 다음으로 대조구, 폐암면+피트모스+코이어구 순으로 높게 나타났다. 즉 폐암면 100%나 이것에 피트모스, 코이어, 또는 펄라이트를 혼합한 구에서 대조구보다 양호한 생육을 보인 반면 폐암면, 피트모스, 또는 코이어의 혼합비율이 낮아질수록 생육이 억제되었다.
