Methylthymolblue(MTB)에 依한 Ti(IV)의 吸光光度分析 (Spectrophotometric Determination of Ti(IV) by means of Methylthymolblue(MTB) Complex)

  • A method of the colorimetric determination of titanium has been developed, based on the fact (IV) forms a stable blue complex with methylthymolblue(MTB) which is suitable for spectrophotometric determination of titanium in the concentration range of 0.2 to 22 $\mu$g per ml as $TiO_2$. The determination was carried out in the solution of pH range of 2.6 to 3.6, and the absorbancy of complex was at 600m$\mu$ with Coleman spectrophotometer. Titanium forms a 1:1 complex with MTB, which has a molar absorptivity, $1.1{\times}10^4$ at 600m\mu$. The effects of hydrogen ion concentration, reagent concentration, stability of complex, and hydrolysis were studied. Most of cations do not interfere seriously; however, many of anions such as oxalate, citrate, phosphate, chloride interfere in this determination.

Effects of Intramolecular Basis Set Superpositon Error on Conformational Energy Difference of 1,2-Difluoroethane and 1.2-Dimethoxyethane

  • The conformation dependences of basis set superposition errors (BSSE) for 1,2-difluoroethane (DFE) and 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME) molecules have been estimated using counterpoise method at the Moller-Plesset second order perturbation (MP2) level of theory with various basis sets, assuming that all BSSE dependences on conformations are due to the change in CC bond. The BSSE on the energy differences between eclipsed and gauche forms of DFE are in the range of 0.2-1.2 kcal/mol and those between local minima, gauche and anti forms, are less than 0.2 kcal/mol. For the larger DME molecule, the BSSE differences between local minima are still less than 0.4 kcal/mol, but may not be ignored compared to the energy differences of 0.2-3.0 kcal/mol between conformers.

Effects of Microsolvation on the Stability of Zwitterionic Valine

  • We present calculations for valine (Val) - $(H_2O)_n$ (n = 0-5) to examine the effects of microsolvating water on the relative stability of the zwitterionic vs. canonical forms of Val. We calculate the structures, energies and Gibbs free energies of the conformers at B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p), wB97XD/6-311++G(d,p) and MP2/aug-cc-pvdz level of theory. We find that five water molecules are needed to stabilize the zwitterionic form of Val. By calculating the barriers of the canonical ${\leftrightarrow}$ zwitterionic pathways of Val - $(H_2O)_5$ conformers, we suggest that both forms of Val - $(H_2O)_5$ may be observed in low temperature gas phase.

막여과지에 의한 무단체 이트륨-90에 관한 연구 (Studies on Carrier-Free Yttrium-90 with Membrane Filters)

  • The state of carrier-free yttrium-90 has been studied by filtration method with membrane filters. The studies include the adsorption ratio of carrier-free yttrium-90 on membrane filters by the change of PH, concentration of yttrium-90, and the pore size of member filters. The adsorption followed to Freundlich adsorption isotherm. The adsorption mechanism was proposed by the adsorption of transient state as an ionic form of $Y^{3+}$, and the experimental results were explained satisfactorily by the proposal. The adsorbed state of yttrium was present in the forms of yttrium such as $Y^{3+},\;Y(OH)^{3+},\;Y(OH)^{2+},\;Y(OH)^+_3,\;and\;Y(OH)_3$,and the existing ratios of the forms of yttrium were sharply changed by PH. It seems to be valid tha the carrier-free yttrium-90 exists mostly in $Y^{3+}$ state.

Isotropic NMR Shifts in Some Pyridine-Type Ligands Complexed with Paramagnetic Undecatungstocobalto(Ⅱ)silicate and Undecatungstonickelo(Ⅱ) silicate Anions. Identifications of Dumbbell-Shaped 4,$4^{\prime}$-Bipyridyl Complexes

  • $^1H$ and $^{13}C$ NMR spectra for pyridine, ${\beta}$-and ${\gamma}$-picoline, pyrazine, and 4,4'-bipyridyl complexed with paramagnetic undecatungstocobalto(II)silicate and undecatungstonickelo(II)silicate anions are reported. For these complexes the ligand exchange is slow on the NMR time scale and the pure resonance lines have been observed at room temperature. The isotropic shifts in nickel complexes can be interpreted in terms of contact shifts by ${\sigma}$-electron delocalization. Both contact and pseudocontact shifts contribute to the isotropic shifts in cobalt complexes. The contact shifts, which are obtained by subtracting the pseudocontact shifts from the isotropic shifts, require both ${\sigma}$-and ${\pi}$-electron delocalization from the cobalt ion. Slow ligand exchange has also allowed us to identify the species formed when bidentate ligands react with the heteropolyanions. Pyrazine forms a 1 : 1 complex, while 4,4'-bipyridyl forms both 1 : 1 and dumbbell-shaped 1 : 2 complexes.

  • Olmutinib, N-[3-({2-[4-(4-methylpiperazine-1-yl)aniline]thieno[3,2-d]Pyrimidin-4-yl}oxy)phenyl]prop-2-enamide dihydrochloride monohydrate, $Olita^{TM}$ is an oral, third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR TKI) that was developed by Boehringer Ingelheim and Hanmi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The aim of this work was to investigate the existence of polymorphs and pseudopolymorphs of olmutinib. Three crystal forms of olmutinib have been isolated by recrystallization and characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric (TG) analysis and powder X-ray diffractometry (PXRD). From the DSC and TG data it was confirmed that Form 1 is monohydrate, Form 2 is dihydrate, Form 3 is 1.5 hydrate. The PXRD patterns of three crystal forms were different respectively. After storage of 1 month at $2^{\circ}C$, 24% RH (Relative Humidity), Form 1, Form 2, and Form 3 were not transformed.

Separation of Optical Isomers of Amino Acids with Addition of Benzyl-L-proline Copper (II) Chelate by Reversed Phase Liquid Chromatography

  • Separation of optical isomers of dansyl amino acids by a reversed phase liquid chromatography has been accomplished by adding a copper (II) chelate of N-benzyl-L-proline to the mobile phase. The pH, the eluent composition and the concentration of copper (II) chelate all affect the optical separations. The elution orders between D and L DNS-amino acids were consistant except dansyl phenylalanine showing that D forms of DNS-amino acids elute earlier than L forms. These behaviors are different from the results obtained by the use of copper (II) proline. The retention mechanism for the optical separation of the dansyl amino acids can be explained by the equilibrium of liqand exchange and by hydrophobic interaction.

화학사고 원인분석을 통한 예방대책 수립에 관한 연구 (A Study on Prevention Measure Establishment through Cause Analysis of Chemical-Accidents)

  • Even if several chemical accident prevention systems such as PSM(Process Safety Management), RMP(Risk Management Plan), etc. have been carried out, many chemical accidents have still occurred at industrial plants in Korea. We describe the status of chemical industry and the trend of occurrence of chemical accidents in Korea. And this paper analyzes the recent chemical accidents in eight ways. These ways include chemical accident forms, ignition sources, sources of chemical equipment, human vs equipment/material causes, worker's working situation, employee scale, hazardous substances, week & time, fatalities of manufacture & contractor's workers. Finally we proposes the four representative prevention measures brought to result of cause analysis by accident statistics.

비소 오염기간이 토양 내 비소의 존재형태와 식물독성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Aging on the Chemical Forms and Phytotoxicity of Arsenic in Soil)

  • This study investigates effects of an aging period on arsenic (As) chemical forms in soils and phytotoxicity using artificially As-contaminated soils with a range of As concentrations (0-300 mg/kg) and aging periods (0 and 3 months). A sequential extraction procedure showed that the increasing As concentration in soils increased the ratio of non-specifically and specifically bound As, which are known to be bioavailable. This resulted in increasing As uptake by tomatoes with increasing As concentration (R2=0.87 for exponential fitting); however, the seed germination was not sensitive to the As concentrations of the soil samples. The seed germination was also statistically similar in the soils with 75 and 150 mg-As/kg regardless of the aging period. The time taken until the seed germination (i.e., lag phase), on the other hand, decreased from 10 d to 3 d with aging for 3 months. This can be attributed to the decreased amount of bioavailable As with aging. Overall, this study shows that when the toxic effects of the As-contaminated soils are assessed using tomato plants, it is better to use more sensitive methods than seed germination such as the As accumulation or the lag phase for seed germination.

연속추출법을 이용한 사격장 오염토양 중 중금속의 화학적 형태 결정 (The Determination of Chemical Forms of Heavy Metals in Shooting Area Contaminated Soil Using Sequential Extraction Method)

  • The soil sample obtained from shooting area contaminated with Pb, Cu, and Zn was investigated to determine the chemical forms of heavy metals with Tessier’s sequential extraction method, which is constituted of five fractions such as ‘exchangeable’, ‘bound to carbonate’, ‘bound to oxide’, ‘bound to organic matter’, and residual fractions. The amount of organic matter was measured by loss on ignition (LOI) and then the results of ‘bound to organic matter’ and LOI were compared. The sequential extraction results show that 4.7%-45% of Pb, 6.2%-25.9% of Cu and 3.9%-15.3% of Zn belong to the ‘bound to organic matter’ fraction, but LOI result shows that only 1.0%-2.8% of organic matter exists in the soil sample. In heavy medium separation tests, because Pb and Cu extracted in ‘bound to organic matter’ and residual fractions were removed, the heavy metals in the fractions would exist as heavier forms. These results suggest that the part of heavy metal extracted in ‘bound to organic matter’ fraction would result from the oxidation of metallic forms by hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid used in the fraction, and, consequently, that the ‘bound to organic matter’ fraction should be investigated in detail to determine the removal method and treatment capacity when the Tessier’s sequential extraction method is used to examine heavy metal contaminants resulted from elemental metal like bullets.
