High performance metal-only fan-beam reflectarray with a delta source applicable for an electromagnetic fence

  • The scattering solutions for multiple rectangular metallic gratings in a perfectly conducting plane excited by the TE and TM delta sources are presented using an overlapping T-block method. A reflectarray composed of rectangular metallic gratings shows fanbeam radiation patterns that are useful for an electromagnetic fence. The scattering characteristics of multiple rectangular gratings were computed in terms of total radiated power and antenna directivity. The design method of a fan-beam reflectarray to obtain high directivity was also compared with superdirective radiation and parabolic reflector phase.

  • In order to prevent the short-channel effects due to threshold voltage adjustment implantation in conventional n+ doped silicon gate process, a new approach involving automatic doping of polycide by boron during source and drain implantation is introduced. P-MOSFET devece fabricated by theis approach shows improved short channel characteristics than conventional device with n+ doped gate. Some concerns of adopting this approach in CMOS technology are addressed togetheer with some suggestions.

  • A new 3-phase line-interactive UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) system with parallel-series active power-line conditioning capability using AC line reactor and two four-leg PWM VSCs(Voltage Source Converters) was introduced recently, In this paper, the strategy of voltage control in suggested UPS system is explained. The objective of proposed voltage controllers in parallel(shunt) and series PWM VSC is to guarantee satisfactory characteristics in steady state and transient state.

  • The fact that the channel coding methode with property of the source coder is better than using the channel characteristics is well known. In this paper We propose the UEP channel coding scheme using IP-SCCC and DCT-based embedded coder for image transmission. Moreover, to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme some simulation results are presented, in which the channel models of additive white Gaussian noise and Rayleigh fading are assumed.

Development of Electronic Ballast for Automotive HID Lamp (자동차 헤드라이트용 전자식 안정기 개발)

  • An electronic ballast for driving automotive HID lamps is presented. The circuit topology is composed of a fly back converter, a Ful bridge inverter, and an igniter. A prototype was developed and tested on a 35W lamp with a 12V input voltage. To avoiding the acoustic resonance, the full bridge inverter is operated at 250Hz and provided a squared-wave voltage source to the lamp. The transient and steady state characteristics of the tested HID lamps are measured and analyzed.

  • In this paper we analyze the performance of a statistical ATM multiplexer with bursty input traffic and two thresholds in the buffer by using queueing model. Two priority levels are considered for source traffic which is modeled by Markov Modulated Poisson Process to represent the bursty characteristics. Service time distributions of two priority sources are assumed to be same and deterministic for ATM environment. The partial buffer sharing scheme with one threshold may experience a sensitive state change around the threshold. But the proposed multiplexer with two thresholds avoids this hysterical phenominon to improve the system operation.

  • Japanese TQC had been a good model for Korean quality programs during last 30years since 1960's. Now American TQM, which has been imitating TQC creatively, is emerging as another good source of information for Korean quality programs. This paper compares the characteristics between TQC and TQM on the base of framework of TQC, which will help us to understand TQM and its developing process. This paper also suggests some implications for Korean QM.

  • As integrated circuits are developed, the crosstalk and the pulse distortion have been major problems in the design. In this paper. the PML and one-point resistive source are applied. This paper deal with the microstripline circuit which has the gap and three microstripline. Obtaining the Propagation pulse shape in microstripline, we prove that the use of the FDTD in the microstripline is valid.

Soil Chemical Properties in Asian Dust Source region in Northern China (황사발생지역에서 토양입자의 화학적 특성)

  • The chemical composition and properties of soil were determined at selected sites, such as Loess plateau, Gobi and sand deserts in northern China, where most dust storms occur. Although the transport of this sort of dust storms to Korean peninsula is a well-documented phenomenon, there is not enough information about the very source regions. In this reason, this study tried to measure the chemical composition, including soil elements, anthropogenic elements and ions for soil samples so that certain properties of some major source regions of Asian Dust can be provided. Furthermore, the results are classified into four types of soil like Loess, Loess & sand, Gobi, and sand in order to identify the characteristics and difference among the types. $(X/Al)_{crust}$ values for each soil type were also calculated in this study and compared with those of other references including Asian Dust material(ADM). The results indicated that Ca contribution was higher than Al in all the soil types of this study including ADM and, compared with the values of urban area, contribution of anthropogenic elements such as Cr, Pb, Zn was quite low. However, it must be noted that there is such a variation in the result of soil composition, but it is also certain that the very source region soil composition resolved from this study could support the enhanced study on Asian Dust phenomenon in Korea.

  • Electrical characteristics of split-gate flash EEPROM with triple polysilicon is investigated in terms of effects of floating gate and offset gate. In order to search for t the effects of offset gate on programming characteristics, threshold voltage and drain current are studied with variation of control gate voltage. The programming process is believed to depend on vertical and horizontal electric field as well as offset gate length. The erase and program threshold voltage are found to be almost constant with variation of control gate voltage above 12V, while endurance test indicates degradation of program threshold voltage. With increase of offset gate length, program threshold voltage becomes smaller and the drain source voltage just after program under constant control gate voltage becomes higher.
