Performance of Convolution Coding Underwater Acoustic Communication System on Frequency Selectivity Index (주파수 선택 지표에 따른 길쌈 부호 수중 음향 통신 시스템의 성능 평가)

  • The convolution code(CC) of code rate 1/2 as a forward error correction (FEC) in Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) is applied to decrease bit error rate (BER) by background noise and multipath in shallow water acoustic channel. Ratio of transmitting signal bandwidth to channel coherence bandwidth is defined as frequency selectivity index. BER and bit energy-to-noise ratio gain of transmitted signal according to frequency selectivity index are evaluated. In the results of indoor water tank experiment, BER is well matched theoretical results at frequency selectivity index less than about 1.0. And bit energy-to-noise ratio gain is also matched theoretical value of 5 dB. BER is effectively decreased at frequency selective multipath channel with frequency selectivity index higher than 1.0. But bit energy-to-noise ratio greater than a certain size in terms of CC weaving is effective in reducing bit errors. In the results, the defined frequency selectivity index in this study could be applied to evaluate a performance of CC in multipath channel. Also it could effectively reduced BER in a low speed underwater acoustic communication system without an equalizer.

Analysis on Spectral Regrowth of Bandwidth Expansion Module by Quadrature Modulation Error in Digital Chirp Generator (디지털 첩 발생기에서의 직교 변조 오차에 의한 대역 확장 모듈에서의 스펙트럴 재성장 분석)

  • This paper presents an effective method to achieve the wideband waveform for high resolution SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) using the frequency multiplication technique. And also this paper analyzes the root causes for the spectral regrowth due to 3rd-order intermodulation in chirp bandwidth expansion scheme using quadrature modulator and frequency multipliers. The amplitude and phase imbalance requirement are defined based on the simulation results in terms of quadrature channel imbalance. This minimizes the degradation of range resolution, peak sidelobe ratio and integrated sidelobe ratio. The wideband chirp generator using the frequency multiplier and memory map scheme was manufactured and the compensation technique was presented to reduce the spectral regrowth of SAR waveform by minimizing the amplitude and phase imbalance. After I and Q channel imbalance adjustment, the carrier level reduces -28.7 dBm to -53.4 dBm. Chirp signal with 150 MHz bandwidth at S-band expands to 600 MHz bandwidth at X-band. The sidelobe levels are reduced by about 8 to 9 dB by compensating the amplitude balance between I and Q channels.

  • In this paper, we assume various number of multipaths in one chip duration according to spreading bandwidth. And we take into account of the effects of autocorrelation and relative phases among multipath components within one chip duration, and analyze fading effects. We derive the average error probability for different number of users. Then, we compare the performance of W-CDMA systems with different bandwidths. From the simulation results for different band-widths, wideband CDMA systems show better performance than narrowband CDMA systems in vehicular and pedestrian environments.

  • When the multiple video sources are together transmitted through the channel of fixed bandwidth, the efficiently picture quality method is necessary. This paper presents the picture quality control method to keep the same distortion level among the video sources. We first find a model of distortion and bitrate for the multiplexing system of multiple sources. Then we obtain the bitrate for each source to have same distortion level among the sources by using the approximated model parameters for simple implementation.

  • The 8-VSB modulation technology developed by ATSC was adapted for national terrestrial DTV broadcasting. It uses same bandwidth of 6㎒ as the one of NTSC TV broadcasting. The simulcast on the both of analog and digital is mandated for some period, some shortage within the limited frequency resource .   • In this paper, RF receiver for CDMA system which has 10 MHz in the channel bandwidth has been designed and fabricated. The designed and fabricated RF receiver is shown useful in operation and the performance has been confirmed by experiments. The results are to be used for establishment of a broadband CDMA wireless access specification standard for WLL system in 2.3 GHz band.

  • MPEG-2 AAC(Advanced Audio Coding) is the most advanced coding scheme available for high quality audio coding. This MPEG-2 AAC audio Standard allows for ITU-R ‘indistinguishable’ quality according to at data rates of 320 kb/s for five full-bandwidth channel audio signals. The compression ratio is around a factor of 1.4 better compared to MPEG Layer 3, you get the same quality at 70% of the bitrate. This paper suggest optimization method for MDCT/IMDCT (Modified Discrete Cosine Transform/Inverse Modified Discrete Cosine Transform) in Encoder and Decoder for AAC.

  • 유비쿼터스 시대의 도래와 이동통신 기술의 발달로 인해 VOD 기술의 응용분야 또한 점차 무선 환경으로 확대되어 가고 있다. 이에 따라 브로드캐스트 기법을 통한 VOD 서비스의 중요성 또한 점차 중요해지는 추세다. 하지만 기존의 개발된 브로드캐스트 기법은 알고리즘이 복잡하기 때문에 자원이 부족한 무선 네트워크 환경에는 적용하기 어려운 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 무선 환경에 적용 가능한 새로운 브로드캐스트 채널분할 기법을 제안한다.

  • We propose a new bandwidth-efficient technique that achieves high data rates over a wideband wireless channel. This new scheme is targeted for a multiple-input multiple- output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system that achieves transmit diversity through a space frequency block code and capacity enhancement through the iterative joint processing of zero-forcing detection and maximum a posteriori (MAP) decoding. Furthermore, the proposed scheme is compared to the coded Bell Labs Layered Space-Time OFDM (BLAST-OFDM) scheme.
