A Design of Bandwidth Allocation Scheme with Priority Consideration for Upstream Channel of Ethernet PON (Ethernet PON에서 서비스 클래스별 우선 순위를 고려한 상향 채널 대역 할당 기법)

  • In this paper, we designed the bandwidth allocation scheme with priority consideration for upstream channel access of EthernetPON. The objective of our scheme is to control the multi services in more effective way according to their CoS(Class of Service) or QoS(Quality of Service). The designed scheme considers transmission priority in the both side of OLT and ONU. In the OLT's view, the Two-step scheduling algorithm is applied with which we can support multiple bandwidth allocation policies simultaneously, i.e. SBA for the time-sensitive, constant rate transmission services and DBA for the best-effort services. This Two-step scheduling algorithm reduces the scheduling complexity by separating the process of transmission start time decision from the process of grant generation. In the ONU's view, the proposed scheme controls 8 priority queues of the 802.1d recommended 8 service classes. Higher priority queue is serviced in prior during the allowed GATE time from OLT. The OPNET modeling and simulation result compares the performance of each bandwidth allocation policy with SBA or DBA only approach.

  • In this paper, we propose a wireless MAC protocol named APRMA, which is capable of supporting the ABR type data service and maximizing channel utilization. In PRMA protocol, data terminals with random data packets cannot reserve slot. That is, slot reservation is applicable to the time constraint voice packet exclusively. But the reservation scheme has to be performed for loss sensitive data packet, and so data packets can get their quality of service. Therefore, in wireless MAC, reservation technique has to be used for both voice and data services. But in service aspects, if a fixed bandwidth is allocated to data terminals, time constraint voice packets may have a low efficiency. So in this study, the terminal which wants to request for ABR tyupe service, acquires a minimum bandwidth from system for thefirst time. If the system has extra available bandwidth, ABR terminals would acquire additional bandwidth slot by slot. As a result, APRMA protocol cansupporty the data service with loss sensitivity and maintain their channel utilization high. Also high priority services like voice can be satisfied with their QoS by APRMA.

  • In this paper, we propose an novel bandwidth scheduling algorithm for the MAC protocol employed by the Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS) 3.0 compliant cable networks. The proposed algorithm statistically improves the chances of request piggybacking to minimize the access delay. It utilizes the piggyback request feature of the segment packets that has been newly specified in DCOSIS 3.0. In DOCSIS 3.0, a bandwidth request can be granted to several upstream channels within an upstream bonding group. The grant on each individual channel is treated as a segment packet. We find the optimal segment placement to minimize the access delay in the proposed algorithm. We also use a self-similar traffic model for simulation and analysis to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this study, we have several objectives. First, In spite of a fixed bandwidth waste of reservation channel, we maximize the efficiency of transmission channel by the multiple access algorithm that performs channel reservation and data transmission independently, eliminating the frame structure of transmission channel and reserving it by the slot unit . Second, In order to improve the entire system performance, we accommodate the variation of traffic at each earth station more effectively, and accomplish the stable delay characteristics and the equlity of service #or users. For this purpose, we design the satellite channel that consists of reservation channel and transmission channel which are logically separate and operate Independently. We also design a demand assignment multiple access algorithm based on the satellite channel structure.

  • A guided-wave electro-optic Mach-Zehnder interferometric modulator was fabricated on X-cut LiNbO3 . The channel waveguides were formed by proton diffusion with self-aligned SiO2-cladding. A mach-Zehnder interferometric modulator with arm lengths of 7mm has been fabricated and tested at 0.6328${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Its modulation depth with V$\pi$ of only 3.5V was 85% and the 3dB bandwidth was 1.6KHz. For high speed operation, the electrode dimension should be reduced to have smaller R, L, and C.

  • In this paper, it was studied that the performance of OFDM transmission scheme was improved in fading channel by applying TCM, which has advantages of error correction and bandwidth efficiency. Simulation was carried out for two TCM models with different code efficient length. By mapping two models to square 16QAM, the model with the code efficient length of 2 achieved 3㏈ better than the other for the BER of 10$^{-3}$ . In conclusion, if we want to achieve a better performance with TCM in OFDM applications, we should select a TCM with langer code efficient length.

  • In this paper, we describes RF receiver module for IMT-2000 handset with 5MHz channel bandwidth. The fabricated RF receiver module consists of Low Noise Amplifier-, RF SAW filter, Down-converter, IF SAW filter, AGC and PLL Synthesizer. The NF and IIP3 of LNA is 0.8㏈, 3㏈m at 2.14㎓, conversion gain of downconverter is l0㏈, dynamic range of AGC is 80㏈, and phase noise of PLL is -100 ㏈m, at 100KHz. The receiver sensitivity is -110㏈m, adjacent channel selectivity is -48㏈m.

  • Alamouti proposes a two branch transmit diver-sity scheme that provides the same diversity order as maximal ratio combining at the receiver. It has many advantages of no bandwidth expansion, not requiring channel information at the transmitter and simple maximum likelihood decoding at the receiver. Papadias and Foschini extend this sch-eme to four transmit antennas and suggest several schemes to decrease the interference component and allow the attainment of the open-loop capacity. This paper shows the performance of ZF and MM-SE schemes comparing with ideal case on 4xl sy-stem over BER and 10% outage capacity.

  • A new power and bandwidth efficient modem technique-Correlative Encoded FSK (CEFSK) is proposed. CEFSK has a spectral efficiency comparable to Gaussian filtered FSK (GFSK), and it achieves 0.7db Eb/N0 improvement at bit error rate (BER) of 1 * 10 -4 over GFSK in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and 3.0dB improvement in a Rayleigh fading channel
