  • As increasing the growth of the Internet in medical area, a new technology to transmit effectively massive medical data is required. In optical internet, all OBS nodes have fiber delay lines, hardware components. These components are calculated under some optimal traffic conditions, and this means that if the conditions change, then the components should be altered. Therefore, in this article a new service differentiation algorithm using the previously installed components is proposed, which is used although the conditions vary. When traffic conditions change, the algorithm dynamically recalculates the threshold value used to decide the length of data bursts. By doing so, irrelevant to changes, the algorithm can maintain the service differentiation between classes without replacing any fiber delay lines. With the algorithm, loss sensitive medical data can be transferred well.

  • Change detection is a core function of remote sensing. It can be widely used in public services such as land monitoring, damage assessment from disaster, analysis of city growth, etc. However, it seems that the change detection using satellite imagery has not been fully used in public services. For the person who is in charge of public services, it seems not to be ease to implement the change detection because various functions are combined into it. So, to promote the use of the change detection in public services, the standard, the process and the method for the change detection in public services should be established. And the software which supports that will be very useful. This study aims to promote the use of satellite imagery in public services by building up the change detection process which are suitable for general public services and developing the change detection software to support the process. The software has been developed using ETRI Components for Satellite Image Processing to support the interoperability with other GIS software.

  • This paper describes the development of portable arousal measurement and analysis system. Skin impedance change which responds to the change of arousal level was detected by the three elctrode constant current method and separated into two components(SIR, SIL). Relationship between Nz, IRI and arousal level was studied and criteria of arousal level control was decided by the sleep study. Measured data with and without warning signal were compared and analyzed.

  • The perilla seed and the germinated perilla seed $(25{\sim}28^{\circ}C$, $2{\sim}3\;days)$ were extracted by n-hexane, and from the extracted oil the antioxidative components were separated, and then the effect of the change in the contents of antioxidative components by germination on the oxidative stability of the perilla oil was studied. The perilla oils were solved acetone and methanol, and kept at $-60^{\circ}C$ overnight and separated into the frozen oil fraction and unfrozen solvent soluble fraction. By comparing the antioxidative stability of the frozen oil fraction the antioxidative components in the perilla oil were found to be methanol soluble. The methanol soluble fraction of perilla oil was applied to silica gel column chromatography and the separated fractions were compared in terms of antioxidative activity. The fraction of n-hexane : ethyl acetate (7 : 3, v/v) showing the highest antioxidative activity was further separated by TLC. The components included in the band $(R_f\;0.71)$ showing the highest antioxidative activity was separated by HPLC. Four peaks were observed on the HPLC chromatogram and the peak areas were changed by germination (perilla seed : peak 1; 46.5%, peak 2; 25.6%, peak 3; 22.6%, germinated perilla seed : peak 1; 43.8%, peak 2; 20.6%, peak 3; 29.8%). The comparative change in the contents of these components was considered to be one factor affecting the antioxidative stability of perilla oil by germination.

  • In conventional fault-tree analysis, the failure probabilities of components of a system are treated as exact values in estimating the failure probability of the top event. For the plant layout and systems of the products, however, it is often difficult to evaluate the failure probabilities of components from past occurences, because the environments of the systems change. Furthermore, it might be necessary to consider possible failure of components of the systems even if they have never failed before. In the paper, instead of the probability of failure, we propose the possibility of failure, viz, a fuzzy set defined in probability space. Thus, in this paper based on a fuzzy fault-tree model, the maximum possibility of system failure is determined from the possibility of failure of each component within the system according to the extension principle.

  • Certain types of anti-inflammatory components and whitening components were in practical use as the active ingredients of quasi drugs expected to display their pharmacological actions. However, only twenty years at most have past since the introduction of cosmetics that not only physically change the condition of the surface of the skin, but also promote skin homeostasis from by acting on the physiological mechanisms of the skin. Since then, much effort hasa been made to find new active ingredients suitable for full-scale development, and the term "cosmeceutical" has often been coined to describe cosmetics containing pharmacologically active components. In this report, the prospects of cosmeceuticals will be discussed on the basis of a review of the history of the development of current skin-care products.

  • This study was performed to identify the flavor compnenets of Korean Cnidium officinale M.. The extraction of the flavor compounds of Cnidium officinale M. was accomplished by a simultaneous distillation and extraction method using a Likens and Nickerson's extraction apparatus. The concentrated extract was analyzed and identified by gas chromatography and GC-mass spectrometry. The change of the 림팩 contents in each samples was determined in terms of two different storage conditions. The flavor contents of sample at low temperature storage were higher than those at room temperature storage, and increased until storage period of 70 days. The major components of Cnidium officinale M. were terpene compounds including α-pinene, β -selinene, γ-selinene, and phthalides including butylidenephthalide, cnidilide, neocnidilide, senkyunolide A, ligustilide, which are believed to contribute to the characteristic flavor of the Cnidium officinale M.. Especially, great amount of cnidilide and ligustilide was shown in sample of low temperature storage.

  • Cell components play vital role within the cell when the cell under goes deformation. These components are microtubules, microfilaments and intermediate filaments. Intermediate filaments are like thread and are of different types. Like microtubules and microfilaments these components also undergo the deformation and their dynamics affected when change occurs within cell. In the present study, bending of intermediate filaments are studied keeping the nonlocal effects under consideration. It is observed that the nonlocal parameter has a great impact on the dynamics of intermediate filaments. This study is made by the application of Euler beam theory.

  • This paper shows that the identified and unidentified components of surface roughness in NC turning lathe which can not be analyzed in time domain such as $R_{max},\;R_a$ can be isolated in frequency domain by FFT analyzer. By interfacing FFT analyzer with stylus surface roughness instrument, surface roughness on change of working condition, especially tool feed, such as 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3(mm/rev) can be analyzed in frequency domain as follows. 1. By frequency analysis of surface roughness profile, the basic wave length of surface roughness can be obtained to isolate the identified and unidentified components of surface roughness. 2. With increase of tool feed, the unidentified components of surface roughness increase. 3. Since $R_{max}$, which can be obtained by stylus surface roughness is proportion to the output voltage of FFT analyzer, FFT analyzer also can be used to measure surface roughness in time domain such $R_a,\;R_{max}$.
