From 1990, Seoul Metropolitan Government has established an urban master plan for the efficient city management by introducing the central place structure with a multi-tiered hierarchy. In the plan, Seoul City uses the strategy of developing the station influence area around the urban railway, in order to form the central place structure, effectively. . Therefore, reviewing impacts of urban railway is the most fundamental study for understanding changes in the spatial structures of Seoul. In the study, we have analyzed the changes in the central place structure of Seoul City with the public land price changes in station influence area around the urban railway at each year of 2000, 2005, and 2010. As a result, we could easily recognize the changes in the hierarchical central place structure by analyzing the time-series changes of public land price in station influence area.

DC series motor has been widely applicated in industry due to many advantageous characteristics, such as high starting torque, easy construction of its controller, and cost economy, etc.. However, by high starting current, excessive surge voltage, and so on, many problems which could make engineers relinguish to use it are induced. In this paper, various protection methods for power circuit are discussed. Particularly, a new proposed snubber circuit which consists of two diodes, one capacitor, and a resistor increases the performance with respect to the suppression of the surge voltage. Furthermore, the plugging algorithm, by checking the armature current and voltage and controlling the field coil current, is designed and implemented. Also, these methods and algorithms were applicated in electric vehicle, and we could find its stability to be considerably improved.

We investigate the hydrodynamics of gas clouds in the central few hundred parsecs of the Galaxy. Non-axisymmetry (elongation) of the Galactic bulge can form a reservoir of dense molecular clouds at around two hundred parsecs from the center through the X1-X2 orbit transfer, and the star formation that has been sustained for the lifetime of the galaxy can build up a nuclear bulge there. If the nuclear bulge is elongated, this again can transport the gas there down to the central few parsecs region. We perform a series of 3-D hydrodynamic simulations that consider a potential for this "nested bar", cooling/heating, star formation and supernova feedback, and estimate the efficiency of the gas inflow down to the central parsec region.

The purpose of this study was to develop a method for increasing the solubility of paclitaxel in water to reduce its toxicity and make the drug more feasible for chemotherapy. A series of highly water soluble paclitaxel polyethylene glycol (PEG) esters were synthesized and evaluated for their anti-tumor activity and toxicity. The solubility of 7-polyethylene glycol paclitaxel carbonate 5 was 840 mg/mL and the acute toxicity ($LD_{50}$) was 286 mg/kg. Because of its reduced toxicity, compound 5 showed a dramatic reduction of tumor volume without any loss of animals in long-term treatment (daily consecutive injections for 15 days).

In this paper, with a graphical approach, a series of stability charts for homogeneous slopes with benches are presented based on the upper bound limit analysis theory and strength reduction technique. The objective function of the slope safety factor $F_s$ is optimized by the nonlinear sequential quadratic programming, and a substantial number of examples are illustrated to use the stability charts for homogeneous slopes with benches driven by only the action of the soil weight. These charts can be applied to quick and accurate estimations of the stability status of homogeneous slopes with benches. Moreover, the failure modes and the formula for safety factor Fs of homogeneous slopes with benches are provided to illustrate the stability analysis of slopes with benches, which is validated by samples.

We consider a nonlinear autoregressive moving average model with nonlinear GARCH errors, and find sufficient conditions for the existence of a strictly stationary solution of three related time series equations. We also consider a geometric ergodicity and functional central limit theorem for a nonlinear autoregressive model with nonlinear ARCH errors. The given model includes broad classes of nonlinear models. New results are obtained, and known results are shown to emerge as special cases.

This note attempts to present knowledge management strategies for the upcoming 4th elected local government. Despite the series of efforts by the central government of Korea, it seems that local governments and their affiliated organizations have been very slow even understanding the necessities of knowledge management as well as adopting any particular knowledge management system. This study analyzes the evolutionary process of knowledge management policies by the central government and presents knowledge management strategies.

A series of $7-{2-(aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-Z-({\gamma}-lacton-3-yl)oxyiminoactamido}$ cephalosporins with various substituents at the 30position in cephem nucleus in cephem nucleus were synthesized and evaluated microbiologically. The tested compounds showed potent activities but were somewhat less active than cefotaxime or cefixime against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

We aim to prove a known summation formula for the series $_4F_3(1)$ by mainly using a similar method as in [2], which is different from that in [3]. The method of proof here as well as that in [2] is potentially useful in getting some other summation formulas for $_pF_q$.
