In this study, a concrete faced rockfill dam constructed by stages was numerically analyzed, and the numerical results were compared with in situ measurements. The simple incremental elastic and isotropic hyperbolic model was employed to characterize the nonlinear deformation behavior of rockfill material and computational procedure followed construction sequence. A series of large triaxial tests for rockfill material were carried out to obtain mechanical input parameters. According to the analysis results, relative great additional deformation was introduced at the surface of stage-I dam body due to the loading by stage-II construction. The results reveal that numerical analysis can effectively simulate the construction processes, and some meaningful insights about the behavior of CFRD during construction were gained.

Distribution planning requires comprehensive knowledge about not only distribution but also transmission/subtransmission system expansion plan. At the same time, distribution planning is very time consuming and a series of routine job which involves a lot of experience and efforts of planning engineers. Since the quality of distribution planning depends upon the ability of planning engineers, the economy of investment should be taken into consideration. The object of this study is to establish a computerized distribution planning system which helps distribution engineers finding a new system expansion plan. It provides the engineers with at optimal system expansion plan which satisfies the condition of both reliability and economy.

This paper describes control system design for the DH(dynamic voltage restorer) consisted of a diode rectifier and series inverter applied to 22.9kV distribution system. The DVR control system is consisted of the main two parts. One is a voltage event detector using a neural network and the other is deadbeat controller for the output voltage and current control of the DVR. A simulation model was developed for analyzing performance of the controller and the whole system. The results confirm that the DVR can restore load voltage under the fault of the distribution system.

In this letter we report on the carrier velocity of polycrystalline pentacene transistors as a function of electric field. We performed a series of measurements on devices with a range of channel lengths. At moderate electric fields (<$5{\times}10^5$ V/cm), the characteristics are similar to those of disordered or amorphous organic semiconductors. The highest velocities we have measured are near $6{\times}10^4$ cm/s at room temperature. We perform quasi-static and dynamic measurements to measure carrier velocity. These results fill an important void between experimental results that have been obtained with disordered/amorphous organic semiconductors and single crystals.

The synthesis of a new series of 1$\beta$-methylcarbapenems having spiro[2,4]heptane moieties is described. Their in vitro antibacterial activities against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria were tested and the effect of substituents at the pyrrolidine ring was investigated. Most of the compounds were found to be more active compared to imipenem against Gram-negative bacteria. A particular compound (IIIc) having 7-oxo-5- azaspiro[2,4]heptane moiety showed the most potent antibacterial activity.

Vascular stenting has a great attention as a treatment for coronary arteries diseases as compared with percutaneous balloon angioplasty. In-stent restenosis and thrombosis are side effects resulting from using bare metal stent (BMS). Employing platelet therapy allowed to reduce the rate of thrombosis, however, the rate of restenosis remains a major problem. In 2002, drug-eluting stents (DESs) were introduced as an effort to reduce the restenosis. The commercially available DESs continue to suffer from coating defects that might lead to a series of adverse effects. Most importantly, multiple concerns remain regarding the polymer coating integrity on metal surfaces or the relation of polymer irregularities to longterm adverse events.

Objectives We reported a series of 2 treatment cases with Hyeongbangdojeok-san which was based on Sasang Constitutional Medicine for Climacteric Syndrome in Soyangin. Methods We prescribed Hyeongbangdojeok-san for their physical symptoms. The improvement of their Climacteric Syndrome was evaluated Results After the administration of Hyeongbangdojeok-san was given, the patient's Climacteric Syndrome and physical symptoms are improved. Conclusions These case-studies show an efficient result of using Hyeongbangdojeok-san in the Climacteric Syndrome of Soyangin.

Methods We diagnosed these two cases as a Soyangsangpung. And we prescribed Hyeongbangdojok-san for their physical symptoms. The improvement of their peripheral facial palsy were evaluated. Results After the Hyeongbangdojok-san was given, the patient's peripheral facial paralysis and physical symptoms were improved. Conclusions These case-studies showed an efficient result of using Hyeongbangdojok-san in the peripheral facial paralysis of Soyangin.
